He is not the blood and thunder defender you need at places like St. James park and Anfield. He needs time to adjust to the pace of the PL. Let’s not start digging out players after a few games.

We aren’t good enough yet to be missing the like of Mings, Moreno, Ramsey and Buendia and it shows when you play better teams. Having said that we were poor but when you concede such a soft goal after 3 minutes it’s always going to be a long day!

I know that mate but my point is it never gets mentioned they spent a lot money to get to where they are now. For all the money they’ve spent they lost one player in Botman yesterday and it had a massive effect on the team.

You think £400m in 18 months isn’t a lot. Most clubs wage bills will be more than the £140m they get form the PL.

Due to the amount Chelsea have spent, Newcastle’s spending never gets mentioned in the media. They have a net spend of close to £400m since Howe has been in charged. We have a net spend of about £70m since Emery has been Manager.

Our best 2 home wins last season came with him starting, he’s not the best but he keeps things simple and puts himself about. He’s fine as a back up player.

Isak and Botman would start imo.

Archer just played a part in helping the U21’s win a tournament they hadn’t won in 39 years. At men’s football Archer has also outperformed Brewster at every level both have played at. Not sure playing well in kids football should carry as much weight as it does imo.

Yeah, Brewster would’ve been more highly rated based on him coming through the Liverpool ranks I guess, based on actual performances at the respective levels I don’t see how he could’ve been. Obviously I’m biased though

My only disappointment of the transfer window was selling Archer for such a small fee. Sort of get selling him it if it helps with FFP but not sure it actually makes that much difference. Happy to be told otherwise as I don’t really understand how FFP works. Was we really that close to breaking FFP that we needed to sell him? Sheffield United paid £5m more for Brewster 4 years ago. Archer has a better record than him in the Championship and has now scored 1 more PL goal than him.

Slightly disappointed with him tonight. Should be bossing games like this. Looked better in the centre but isn’t going to threaten the current midfield with performances like that.

This kid should be a coaches dream. Yes he’s raw but any good coach can see there is plenty to work with. I’ve said it before but I think it’s worth having a specialised striking coach just for this lad, he has so much potential.

Kid has a great chance, he sees the picture early which is vital at this level. Even at 17 he looks like he will be able to handle the physicality of the mens game. Hopefully he has good people around him that will keep his feet on the ground!

He is on £280k a week at AM according to reports. He was on £240k a year at Benfica. I can’t say I knew much of him prior to joining AM but that rise in salary is ridiculous at his age and given it’s a 7 year contract!

I was to busy celebrating the goal at the time so didn’t notice if the Burnley player got booked for his attempted Rugby tackle on McGinn leading up to the 3rd goal. Turns out he didn’t, how can any official expect to be taken seriously when things like this go unpunished. I just don’t get how players are getting booked for nothing this season and he let this go!

Just looking at our net spend over the last 3 seasons and it’s roughly £105m, obviously this was massively off set by the sale of Grealish. We are 14th for net spend in that time. Both Bournemouth and Forest are over £200m net spend in the same period. Surely Forest will have to sell Johnson this season whilst his stock is relatively high. Not sure they can risk him having a bad season. Both these sides have average squads, it just shows how much is needed just to stay in the PL. With this in mind it just shows we struck gold with Emery. He’s came in and made players who may have been sold, better. He’s saved us a fortune in the transfer market with his knowledge and tactics. I’m comfortable if we don’t make anymore signings as the manager is worth so much more to us than a marque signing.
