  1. I was thinking the same about rvp But he is also quite lazy and very much a luxury player. Not sure hes right for us
  2. But why no elphick? Maybe the guys who lack fitness and/or he isnt sure about are getting games?
  3. This is very dull for a match thread Are we playing that badly
  4. Pantyman rumours have resurfaced so id say bunn and steer are out too
  5. I hear the pantyman rumours are back in swing. Guess thatd mean bunn out and steer on loan again?
  6. fairly sure that isnt the same Colin Jackson... ;-)
  7. Yeah as we stand i think we are closer to relegation than playoffs never mind automatic promotion. At least 6 players needed for me to make us playoff contenders never mind champions.
  8. Having seen the few preseason games im more convined that we need at least 6 more in. Im not expecting that to happen before the season starts or even really before the window closes. What is clear to me is that if we dont get those 6 before the window closes i dont believe there is enough quality in the squad to compete for a playoff place. As we stand i think we are only just good enough to avoid relegation.
  9. Under Sherwood he came off the bench first game after signing, started the second then spent a number of weeks injured. By the time he was fit again Garde was in charge and wed gone 10 without a win so that was a bad situation to put a recovering attacking player in to so he got left out. Not to mention Garde is a very defensive manager. Black as we all know was just plain clueless so cant draw any conclusions from him...
  10. If fit for me he has to at least be in the squad
  11. Also remember that Rafa at newcastle has already had several month managing the team in the Premier League to get a grasp of who he likes and who he doesnt and where the squads strengths and weaknesses ate. Rdm has had 2 weeks. So its hardly surprising that we are moving slower than them...
  12. Is there any actual speculation in this thread?
  13. Cue him scoring against us when we meet PNE later in the year...
  14. Saddened at this news. Thought he was decent. Hopefully this means hes not as good as someone coming in!
  15. I think its great to have him back at Villa, and i do believe his presence alone would have a massive impact on the entire squad. However, i'm not convinced that he is going to be up to the level required to get a lot of games or game time. I've also read that what he wants is to be playing football as often and as much as possible. So if RDM doesnt think he will play a lot of games he wont be staying. Fingers Crossed for him though - above anyone associated with villa in recent times Stan deserves a break!
  16. i'm undecided on Sanchez really. As many have said one week he's class and the next dog poo. With the leadership on and off the pitch (or rather lack thereof), it could be as simple as new leadership resolves his inconsistent form. Having said that, i'm not convinced he is big or strong enough for the championship. and his stamina also worries me. If it were a straight choice between him and Gueye, i'd be saying Gueye all day long
  17. i actually think there is a player in there somewhere (admittedly not as a centre back). I'd be of the opinion that his biggest issue when playing at full back was a lack of strong leadership, managerial and coaching direction, and above all poor tactics. I wouldn't be upset about him having another shot in the Championship (assuming he has taken a significant wage cut)
  18. Scott Sinclair is what i'd call a luxury player. He doesnt work hard but if you are playing well he could be decent. I dont think we are good enough as a team to keep him and make use of his abilities - we lack quality across the board. We're also too lightweught in every department for the championship. We are crying out for a couple of bruisers to stop us getting bullied by every team in the division.
  19. Well lets compare: The villa takeover was announced on 17/05/2016 - 15 days ago and the takeover is not yet ratified. The swansea takeover was confirmed yesterday and the sky article states the test takes up to 10 days and will be completed by the 10th. Thats already a good deal shorter than how long ours has been ongoing for. Someone somewhere is having a laugh
