  1. Can anyone help me out here. There's this bit of this whole thing I don't understand. Apparently he said something along the lines of "I don't want to play for Aston Villa Football Club". What does this mean? I don't understand. Seems like a collection of words forming some sort of gibberish that makes no logical sense whatsoever to my brain.
  2. I like your thinking.

    Tasers

Delete this thread if needed but someone made a great suggestion as far as the Dalian Atkinson thread was concerned to take the discussion here rather than fill up a thread full of wonderful memories with arguments about Taser use. Here if anyone is interested is the IPCC review of Taser complaints and incidents 2004 - 2013: https://www.ipcc.gov.uk/sites/default/files/Documents/guidelines_reports/Taser_report_final_2014.pdf
  4. Yes, yes he does. and penalties too I'm told.
  5. Just got a text from my Palace supporting mate. It reads:
  6. Happy birthday to me Happy birthday to me Happy birthday to meeeee Happy birthday to me Welcome to B6 Mile. Dr X, It's just what I wanted thank you so much
  7. For me it's purely that. We don't have one of them imo. Its not that he's good it's that he's solid and reliable unlike the rest of our powderpuff midfield
  8. Dunno, might mean Rangers would need to take Hutton home to give themselves a chance if that happened
  9. The main reason I find all this interview stuff pointless is that I think he's awful at football. At times he shows literally no awareness of what's going on around him. I can't wait to see the back of him coz I don't think he's good enough for us. After that what is there left to say? And why would it matter what he thinks about stuff?
  10. Would it be better if we were only willing to go to 50k but other teams in the Premier League and Europe bid more? I don't get it myself, but then as I said in the Jedinak thread I think if we overpay and/or give him a 3 year contract it will be worth it. Id rather have him on big money than Shelvey tbf. Also if we go back up it will totally be worth every penny of the contract and if we can rake in a few shirt sales down in Oz then all the better he'll start paying his own way then
  11. He was in the youth set up at Man Utd for a couple of years, so in fairness I doubt he needs too much time to acclimatise and probably speaks good English.
  12. Well, Im going to assume Jedinak is coming and say I like the new spine although we need something that isn't Gestede up top to complete it imo. Also fair play to the new team for doing more in under 10 weeks to address the issues in the squad than I feel Lerner did in about 4 years. Gollini ?????? - Elphick - Chester - ?????? Tshibola - (Jedinak) ?????? - McCormack - ?????? ?????? On top of that for a first 11 I think Amavi when fit will be great at left back, Ayew and Grealish for the inside right and inside left look more than capable at this level. I hate all our right back options if I'm honest and I have little faith in Rudy (Although I'm impressed he has at least upped his workrate in the last 2 games). I like that Ayew/McCormack/Grealish could all play in 2 or 3 of those 3 positions behind the striker. If and when Jedinak signs I think a Striker and a Right Back are the next priorities. As far as the second string is concerned what I'd like and what I think we'll end up with are two completely different things unfortunately. As back-up Goalkeepers Bunn and Steer hopefully wont be needed too much if Gollini settles in. But here we go, Right Back - see what Id like in my heart of hearts is to never have to watch, discuss or think about Micah Richards, Hutton or Bacuna ever again but I guess all 3 leaving in one window and buying 2 right backs is dreaming. Not that they couldn't "do a job at this level" (even if, in Richards' case it would be for the opposition) but we all know they are all not very good at football. At Centre Back i've always have had a liking for Baker. He may lack ability at the highest level but not bravery or commitment and we'll need that at times this season, No one wants to see Lescott stay and after the Luton game I finally realised Okore just doesn't have the required intelligence. Richards is not a CB is he. Anyway Lescott/Okore/Richards out and a new CB in would be lovely. At Left Back Cissokho is painful to watch in the oppositions half. Bennett's run in the first team coincided with us letting in hat fulls including the 8-0 at Chelsea. Dont think any of us would be too fussed if either or both of them left or oddly if they hung around in this 46 game marathon. As long as we keep Amavi. In Midfield Westwood's always been divisive but perfectly happy with him as a squad player, Gardner on the other hand I think it's time to move on from hoping he comes good and let him go and prove it somewhere else. Assuming Jedinak comes I think we're still pretty weak in the middle of the park. If Veretout was interested then maybe, but if his heart aint in it then sack him off. So ideally sell Veretout and Gardner, buy Jedinak AND another CM and make Westwood and Tshibola battle it out for a seat on the bench. Right Wing Im happy with Traore, Left Wing we could really do with some back - up for Jack (especially if Gabby really is done here) Inside Centre/No 10 Well the Morrison rumours don't seem to be going away and I for one would love to give him a chance here. Striker - Leaving the utter shambolic chaotic mess that is the Villa strikeforce. What the hell exactly is going on with Kozak? Does anyone think he'll play again? I hope so on a human level after the awful injuries but he cant really be counted amongst the things we want to rely on this year. Gabby is surely off, leaving us by default with Gestede, who is not very good. No real problem with him being an option. If there are 5/6 teams as bad as Rotherham in this league he might get into double figures eh? but also don't forget almost definitely off to the ACN come January. Anyway if we don't get rid of ALL the full backs (Amavi excluded) I reckon we're looking a bit like this after the first 11. Steer Hutton - ?????? - Baker - Cissokho Westwood - ?????? Traore - ?????? - ?????? Gestede Subs/3rd choice Bunn, Bacuna, Toner, Bennett, Lyden, Green, H-Murphy. OUT: Richards / Lescott / Okore / Gardner / Veretout / Agbonlahor / Kozak IN: DR / DC / MC / AMC / AML / ST (+ Jedinak) That would leave us with a 25 man squad supplemented by the likes of Lyden, Toner, RHM and Green 2 weeks, and usually the busy 2, to sort this out. And a few loans maybe.
  13. I cant fault his subs too much, the bench was awful tonight bar Baker I wouldnt have been confident throwing anyone else on tbf. Annoying dropping 2 points to a freak goal but the improvement in the workrate and movement of the front 4 over the last 2 games is encouraging.
  14. Proper shame. We were unlucky at the end but didn't take our chances when they came. We could and probably should have won that one. All too familiar at the end but look at that bench. We're a striker, right back and midfielder away from a first 11 I'd be happy with. However, after 3 games I'd have taken a win a draw and a loss while we're sorting the squad out still and players are coming in and that's what we've got. In reality we're unlucky not to be on 7 points after 2 wins and a draw imo.
  15. Brighton 2-0 up on Rotherham, Brentford 1-0 up on Forest
  16. Can i have that in writing? oh I did. Lovely. Just quoting for posterity People are fallible. Thankfully your questions are hypothetical. The average guy on the street probably wouldn't receive the same level of sympathy but then he wasn't adored by thousands of people or he wouldn't be an average guy on the street. I get what you were saying originally and it has it's own merit. People should be held accountable for their actions in a law abiding society. Some things are beyond forgiveness in all our minds and we have our own individual boundaries when it comes to stuff like this. Sometimes things happen which are so complicated that there is no hero. no villain (correct usage before the Villans start correcting me lol). Peoples views on pleading insanity or diminished responsibility on the grounds of mental instability to accused crimes varies wildly. But the reason they exist in Law is because they exist in reality. None of the people on here are condoning the violence toward his father. Or conveniently sweeping it under the carpet as an inconvenient truth. Sometimes in life irrational things happen which we can make little sense of.
  17. Gotta be better for looking at than the front that's for sure
  18. Empathy is weird isn't it. Especially when it's so far removed from ones own personal experiences. People who work in the field of mental health can deal with these things on a daily basis. It's an awful thing to have happened, but it's not uncommon or sensational unfortunately. Likewise people who have witnessed close family members or friends have to deal with mental breakdowns, drink and drug problems, depression and so on generally have a much more compassionate view towards people gripped by their own problems. I have noticed a similar thing with the friends and families of people with life limiting or life threatening conditions throughout my life. You're entitled to your opinion but just remember pride comes before a fall. Humility costs nothing. Not fully understanding something is ok. I'm really trying not to sound pious and stress there is no need for you to express any good wishes or feel any sadness if you don't feel like you need to. But away from the forum sometime ask yourself what you would do if this was a loved one of yours? A partner/sibling/family member/friend? What if there is something in the phrase "not in his right mind" which your journey in life has not brought you to have to deal with and attempt to fully understand? "And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise" - Rudyard Kipling
  19. I asked this over the weekend to a few fans of different clubs and they all thought stage 2. There's still hope.
  20. Isn't that where's your Ronny gone? from the above game
  21. Great memories already mentioned but shout out for the great debut. Goal and an assist against his former club managed by Trevor Francis!! Still my favourite away game ever. I texted my dad to thank him for the tickets again this afternoon 25 years on.
  22. hot drinks and blankets my friend. Psychological shock is very real. Haven't done a damn thing here for the last couple of hours. kind of in a daze. What a sad day.
  23. Grown man has shed a few tears here. Match, Shoot and 90minutes meant my bedroom wall was a shrine to Dalian and Deano back in the day. Such a pointless way to go. My heart goes out to his family and friends. Just gutting news.
  24. Oh my god. NO. This is just fubar.
