  1. 95min penalty. Bertrand Traore at the spot kick.
  2. Sevilla played today, no Acuna in the team, not even on the bench. But don't know if he is injured. Says a lot about our financial position when we have to sell one of the best players when we are fighting for league title.
  3. We'll probably never get a lovely crest like some fans made here. But change the colors and remove 1874 so the lion can be centered and not stick its head in the ceiling
  4. This is not good for us. Not only does fifth place not get CL, but the new format is much fairer for lower ranked teams. We will be in the group with the lowest ranked team, but due to the new format we will not face better opposition than, for example, Real Madrid. But look at the group Newcastle got this year!
  5. If we have ambitions to become one of the world's biggest clubs, as stated in the interview, we must have a much bigger stadium. If we wish to keep Villa Park and make it 60 thousand plus, which is the grand plan, then we should apply to build out Doug Ellis' stand too. Otherwise, we face a huge problem the day we need it. Not that today I sit with the feeling that it is imminent
  6. Excellent draw for England in CL. Easy opposition for own teams and many teams from Spain/Italy/Germany who have to play dachs other.
  7. With both Manchester United and Newcastle out of Europe, we can give up five teams in Cl next season. Italy gets all its teams through, Germany does well, and Spain has strong teams. Spain also has two teams out, but one of them is in the Conference league, and it gives fewer points than CL. Can hope for Newcastle goal in the last five minutes, but they have been weak in the second half.
  8. Agree that there are similarities with 1980/-81. But also some clear differences. Match programme: Back then we only had the league to think about. Knocked out of both cups early. In the FA Cup, we even lost in the first round against Ipswich, who were our closest challengers. Ipswich played in two tournaments in addition to the league. Had we had the same number of games we probably wouldn't have won, although I wouldn't bet against it... We were very lucky with injuries, so far this year we have been unlucky, although we have solved it well. Opposition: It was mainly just Ipswich. The best teams of the time, Forest and Liverpool had weak seasons. This year, most of the good teams are also off to a good start. Attack: We had two very good strikers, like having Kane today, or at least Toney. Watkins is unfortunately the most important reason why we don't win the league, his ability to mess up the ball in reception and after being played through, and missing the best opportunities is not worthy of a league winner. But he is doing his best, and it is probably not possible to bring in a better striker.
  9. We enter a very important week, not only in terms of points for us, but the European Cup tournaments. We need England to get one of the two extra places in the CL. A fifth place for us is perhaps the most likely position at the end of the season. In the worst case, Manchester U and Newcastle both end up in last place in their groups, and Brighton and West Ham second in the Europa League. Should that happen, England can forget about having five teams in the CL. The battle is already very even with Italy, Germany and Spain. Those countries are likely to lose only one team each before the knockout rounds. In particular, the match between Newcastle and Milan is important, there we must avoid Milan winning, and thus progressing in Europe at Newcastle's expense
  10. Hope we don’t have to buy him in the summer, awful.
  11. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/nov/16/chelsea-facing-fa-and-premier-league-probe-for-possible-ffp-breaches What are the rules? The Premier League reviews clubs’ accounts every year and sets a limit on the extent to which they can keep running at a loss. The short version is that clubs must not lose more than £105m over a three-year period. However, some spending does not count towards the calculation. Examples include infrastructure – such as investment in the stadium and training ground – community programmes, women’s football or youth development. These are known as “add backs”.
  12. City and not least Chelsea have dominated youth football for many years, no shame that we are not at their level yet. Coaches from Norway were around Europe and looked at the work being done in several academies, such as Ajax and Barcelona and others. They were most impressed by the academy of Aton Villa. We have now sold some of those who we hoped would make the step up to the first team. The best thing would have been if they could have taken the step into our team, but now they have given us money and freed up places for others. Now it will be exciting to see if players like Tim Irongebeum, Barry, Kesler, Sinisalo, Bogarde and Jhon Duran play their way into the team over the next year. We have a lot of exciting players in the group below those mentioned, born within 12 months. Omari Kellyman, Rory Wilson, Josh Feeney, Omar of Egypt, Kaden Young and Tommi O'Reilly. Here, I have faith that one or two will become important players for us. It would have been particularly fun with a self-produced striker like Wilson. In the age group below that again, Jamaldeen JimohA looks very good, similar to Tim, but better with the ball, a bit of the technique that Chuckwumeka had. Nice to have many players on the U-17 team for England, but it's better to get a new Jack Grealish or Gary Shaw than a bunch of talent that only barely reaches pl standard, or are sold on. From Norwegian NRK (bbc in Norway): - Where have you been on a study trip? - We have been to PSV, Barcelona, Leeds, Aston Villa, a Villa team that is perhaps the best in Europe in terms of player development now. We have visited a lot of the environment in December, now we will put it together and see what we can bring to Vålerenga. Because not everything is transferable due to a large difference in resources. - What impressed you the most on these visits? - Aston Villa made by far the best impression by virtue of the fact that they have facilities and expertise at a very, very high level. There were things where I learned, that I couldn't, that I can take here and make our players better.

  14. In the last 36 games between them, the top 6 have only lost 3 games. 2 of them vs other top 6 teams. ManCity two, and Liverpool one. Only Wolves outside the top 7 have won vs top 6 all season.
