  1. Also dreading the Wednesday game, first season VP they played us off the park, and we were lucky to only draw. Last season same again....There was a little ginger headed lad who bossed the midfield for them....It will be a good test for us.
  2. Lets look at the positives.... 3 goals scored in the last 2 games Each time we were behind and came back to win We play badly yet still win First time in nearly 20(?) years that we have won the opening two games of a season and Fulham lost !
  3. At least we did not sign his cousin Ima Failure.......
  4. I think the reason why Xia has gone quiet is that he has been found out to be a con man all along. Football now is becoming polarised, I mean we can all predict the same clubs will occupy the top 6 at the end of next season in the prem league, and probably several seasons after that. Unless a club is owned by an arabic oil producing country or Russian "businessman" none of the reamaining 86 clubs in the Football league stand a chance of breaking into that top 6. The best any club outside the top 6 can hope for now is to avoid relegation, have a good cup run (until you meet one of the top 6 clubs) and maybe get promoted from division 4, 3 or even 2. Even then once in the prem league (div 1) it is a case of looking at where the 40 points for survival are coming from. Its all a bit depressing now to be honest. As a solution its shame that our football club, one of the founders of the league cannot break the mould. What I mean is, to try and create ownership of our club using something like the German model. We need to look away from mega rich owners pretending to be supporters and we need to find the right people at the top including some form of supporter ownership to create a new model of owning a football club. Yes it may not bring us cups and titles for several years but it may show other clubs in a similar predicament as ours that there is another way to have a well run club that "lives within its means". Stop buying old players, stop getting in old loan players, create a new scouting policy and refresh our youth U18/U21 etc set up so we dont have to rely on overpriced over hyped players that under perform. There has to be another way, is this the moment ? Regards to all VTID Del
  5. Saw this Hotel whilst in St Petersburg, Russia a couple of years ago...nearly changed my hotel just to stay there. Yes I know its not a flag or a banner....
  6. We might need that early (easy..?) start if we find ourselves minus12 points at the start of the season...... Regards to all
  7. Totally agree with this, wish more Villa players would follow Hutton's lead. We cannot ask for any more from a Villa player in our current situation. Whatever some may feel about Hutton, at least he appears to care for this club - on and off the pitch
  8. When the day comes that we ever get new owner, these are some of the things I would sooner him/her not do: 1. On the first time they visit Villa Park see a home game they are introduced to the crowd and walk on the hallowed turf. 2. Have a "sit by me" competition 3. Want adoration to stoke their ego 4. Have a twitter account 5. Pretend to be a celebrity ---------------------------------- When the day comes that we ever get new owner, these are some of the things I would like him/her to do: 1. Keep a low profile 2. Employ trustworthy people. 3. Experienced in the world of business 4. Good contacts in the football world 5. Not afraid of trying something new 6. Watch as many Villa matches as possible Regards to all
  9. Hi guys If we have to sell Jack Grealish (and I am assuming that he would rather stay and play for "his" club), against his wishes, in order for Aston Villa to survive, then I propose that there should be a statue of him outside the Holte End to honour that fact.... Regards Del
  10. 18/19 Race for Promotion?.......is over before the season has started! Del
  11. It does make me wonder that if things are that bad now, then if we had have gone up I suspect the extra money would have been flitted away anyway and we would have been just papering over the cracks to be honest. It could have ended up even worse! It looks like things at the top at Villa were rotten anyway and not working, and all this has just highlighted the fact. Going up would have really changed nothing in my view, just put off the inevitable... Del
  12. Shame we cannot look at how German football clubs are owned. Is it true that they are not allowed to be owned by foreign investors and supporters have a stake/share in the club? Can't we do something like that - break the mould of this interminable problems we have had over the last 10 years.. Del
  13. Well we have had a US owner before and look how that turned out.... My current firm is owned by a giant American Corporation and the only thing that matter to an American company is the bottom line.......making profit for themselves. If Villa are bought by a US company it will end badly, again. Look at the hassles that "Yanitid" and the "scousers" have had with their US owners in the past....and they are successful money generating clubs......where we are not. Slightly concerned abut all this. Someone elsewhere said only Villa can have two billionaire owners and still get sh*tted on..... Regards to all Del
  14. Trying to keep positive about this debacle..... So things are so bad that I might even get to play for the Villa in the new season. Mind you I am 60 this month so I will only be able to come on for the last 10 minutes of a game as an impact sub.....! VTID Del
  15. Simple reason why we didn't go up....we are not good enough! 1. Debacle on Saturday - especially that first half. Tactically out thought by Fulhams plan to run JT ragged with quick passing - it worked, and keep kicking our play maker Grealish - it worked 2. We don't deserve to go up losing the way we did to QPR at home Bolton and Norwich away. 3 Just because we are Aston Villa does not give us the entitlement to walk our way back the the Premier League - we have to work hard for it 5 I cannot decide if Bruce is the right man TBH. Most of us in here seem to be 50:50..... 4. I hope there is a "plan B!" Regards Del
  16. Whatever you might think of JT, his commitment to Villa was 100%, and I think he helped Grealish mature a little this season. Still that that JT has gone the door opens to ....Gardner again in midfield.......woo woo.....?
  17. Well I have seen some videos of our fans fighting each other after the game...?
  18. Raver, I agree with almost all of your comments apart from the drive home...I was on the train back to Cambridge. I hate Wembley not helped by the result of course the experience marred but some young guy puking behind me....he never saw any of the game .... Why did we play like we did for the first half?...because that is how we play most of the time. Lets face it a team that lost against QPR at home, Bolton and Norwich away don't deserve to go up... Del
  19. Money..... That is the answer... To be forever struggling in the Prem league season after season avoiding relegation or being mid table mediocrity and having the occasional surprise victory against a top 6 club is what the Premier League now is for most teams outside the top 6. ££££££££'s is all that matters. If Villa had have gone up it would have been a huge battle to stay up in my opinion, our football most of the time is awful and Fulham got their tactics right on saturday, every Prem League team will have done the same to us. In the cold light of the day, after the day after, is that we are (not yet) good enough to go up - basically not ruthless or consistent enough. The old saying the "League Table Doesn't lie". As for the future life in the Championship for our club who knows?, if bloody Cardiff can go up with little expense and unknown players then we should be able to. But the problem is in my view that we are viewed as giants in this league and every club wants our scalp they will always raise their game against us and that is what going to be hard. keep the faith, but it is depressing....we threw away the final and Fulham took advantage. Del
  20. I hate to say this but if Jack Grealish wants to progress his career as a footballer, that is win stuff, play for England earn obscene amounts of money, etc, then he won't do it with Villa any time soon. He may decide to look to a Premier League team to achieve this, he may well get less game time though but at least he will have the protection of better match officials in the Prem league, unlike on Saturday and throughout this season in the Championship where match officials have been most of the time been appalling. Regards to all Del
  21. hopefully my ticket will turn up today.....otherwise I will take my booking receipt down with me and hopefully pick up the ticket at Wembley.....
  22. re the planets aligning......don't forget Alan Hutton to score the winner with the last kick of the game at 90 mins + 7 mins injury time ...... Regards to all Del
  23. Here is my take on it for Saturday Seeing Villa at Wembley is fantastic at anytime (its the first time for me since the 1977 League Cup final against Everton 0-0 bore draw). If we win great, lets worry about life in the Prem League another day. If we lose 3 - 0 well so be it, it will have been a day out and at least we will win more games in the Championship next season than we would have done in the Prem League. The downer would be of course the lack of dosh available. The worse outcome is if we lose on penalties or a lucky last minute winner..... I have seen Villa lose (against Tottingham in 1971 LCF 2 -0, then win against Naarwich 1-0 1975 LCF, and draw 0-0 against Everton)...... I am 60 next month.....to see Villa win on Saturday would be the best early birthday pressie ever!!!! Regards to all Del
  24. I am thinking that Villa 89 was being sarcastic....not meant to be taken seriously.......but you never know. the way things that can be read on emails and on this site can be completely misunderstood... Regards to all Del
  25. May 26th was our day in 1982 May 26th will be our day in 2018 We are Aston Villa FC
