  1. I came on to say well done Nakamba under pressure with 2 on his back. Not easy against this team after 6 months out did very well. By time I got to the thread we were 1-0 up!
  2. Not far away from what I wanted although I think 4312 will be a mistake. Maybe it is 433 though
  3. It won't be though will he as he's out of contract so it'll be done before the window opens one way or another.
  4. So you'd what, sell both Konsa and Mings (plus Targett and Guilbert) with loans for Chrisene & KKH and buy 2 new starting CBs with backups at RB and LB? Or are you selling Cash and Digne too? As none of them can become backups. I disagree with your first bit. You buy players to compete that (as I said) eventually end up demoting your starters. Ming's and Digne will both be 30, you buy young players for both positions that can compete now and eventually will be better than them
  5. Anyway. I'm ecstatic if this gets done as told. Superb business from the club. UTV
  6. Agreed, I'd be surprised if Gerrard does but I agree. Suppose there is always the possibility that was part of our negotiations "..from what we've seen: - only a small number of clubs can afford to take even half his wages off your hands. - The number of clubs willing to play him even half as often as he wants in order to leave his huge contract with you is even smaller. - he isn't the player you signed for €140m and he isn't a 90min, 40 game a season player. He's still going to cost £10m a year in wages, you're going to have to value him as a bit part player to make this make sense for us and we'll sort it out now so you can start rebuilding your own mess Day 1 of the transfer window"
  7. Yeah like that idea. Many will say they can't see Hause moving on but it felt like he was given the contract to keep him happy. Wouldn't surprise me at all to find out a gentlemen's agreement for him to leave in the summer or a buyout clause was included that we anticipate being activated pretty early on. Perhaps not but won't surprise me. I really like Hause and he's done his part, been professional and played well when called upon but I'd rather have somebody providing genuine competition to Konsa and Mings. That isn't Hause. Even if we replace one or both of EK/TM, Hause shouldn't be the back up to the new guy imo. Sell Hause and sign genuine competition with a view to making our current starters backups, or atleast eventual-backups.
  8. That's very true. If it gets sorted before it opens it opens so many more doors for us straight away. Maybe it convinces free agents too who can sign elsewhere before the window opens (Kamara, Belotti, etc)
  9. Was thinking the same thing. If we keep Luiz we almost certainly lose Carney though as he'll want to play an 8 to stay. But keeping Luiz is better than losing both
  10. Nah even at £10m a year it's £190k a week and I'm good with that. Steal. So excited if this goes through as described.
  11. Absolute steal. Cannot argue that transfer at all. It's up to Gerrard to manage the squad appropriately and ensure he gets playing time for the best players. (I.e doesn't ruin Buendia because of Coutinho) Can't fault Lange and Purslow on securing phenomenal value for the club for a top target and world class talent if this price is correct.
  12. To be fair to Xia, he (or whoever he was a front for) got in and invested, saved us from becoming Sunderland with some sorely needed cash and then he (they) got out just in time for us to not go bust due to mismanagement. Plus he did a much better job of selling us to the right person than Custodian-With-A-Tattoo Lerner did. Don't get me wrong, he was a fraud. He was absolutely awful. Should never have passed the fit & proper test. We were incredibly lucky we managed to get away with not being wound up because of just how awful and fraudulent he was. But it could've been much worse had they clung on like the Fraudsters in Small Heath have.
  13. They have an FA Cup Final on Saturday. They're unlikely to win the league now, they'll rue it if they get an injury on Tuesday and then someone important gets injured. Although they have genuine depth now so it's still a frightening prospect no matter what they put out. But I think we'll see Firmino back from injury and straight back in. Alongside Diaz and Mane (so Jota and Salah rested). Maybe Matip back in over Konate. Keita in for Henderson who went off after 65' Vs Spurs. Firmino Mane. Diaz Thiago. Keita Fabinho Robertson VVD Matip TAA Alisson
  14. Comparing lingard to Buendia or Coutinho is a waste, he wouldn't be in over either of them. Lingard would be better cover than AEG or Trez. I think there's arguments for/against him or Traore being a better option than the other. Traore isn't getting a look in under Gerrard so if you sell him for £12-16m and get Lingard on a free, it probably makes sense. 4 year deal and big wages are a problem. I don't think we find a way to sell AEG, Trez and Traorr (can't remember if any are on frees). So I do have problems with us signing Lingard. But I don't think it's right to question whether hes taking Buendia or Coutinhos place. Traore, AEG, Trez and JPB are the ones that should be debated. It genuinely hampers playing time for JPB, Aaron Ramsey, Barry and - perhaps most importantly - Carney Chukweumeka. But unless Gerrard has lost his mind. It's not Buendia or Coutinho and probably not Bailey (although also at risk)
  15. Yeah if the situation really is the way the papers are making out. We should be in a win/win situation here. Ideally Kamara, if not, Kondogbia is a very good addition too. Probably even makes more chances for Iroegbunam if that's the way it falls too as he's further into his career.
  16. If we sold Konsa he'd be going to the Prem. Maybe a Top 5 league in Europe but he ain't going to the Championship. He's been in bad form but that's not happening. We bought him for £12m and hes grown in value. Hed be a steal at £20-25m as he'd recapture his form eventually and be £30-50m plus if the market keeps growing as it has been
  17. We'd be mental to play 4312 imo. Lack of width against Robertson, TAA, Salah , Diaz and Mane/Jota would be a disaster. Ings Watkins. Buendia McGinn. Luiz Nakamba Digne Mings Chambers Cash Martinez Watkins and Buendia working hard to provide cover for Digne and Cash. Bring Coutinho on for Buendia and a standing ovation from Red Scouse late on in the game, hopefully at 0-0, with Bailey on for Watkins and try and hit them fast on the break behind TAA. Easy this. Stevie, I'm available. £100k a year and I'm yours.
  18. He'll be at Everton or Burnley next season. Whichever one stays up
  19. I'd just woken up, for some reason I thought those were how many minutes per contributions and it was higher so worse. Forgive me CVB
  20. Which one is this season? 0.68 would make it his second worst. 0.55 would make it his best.
  21. To be fair, he wasn't very good the first few games and then an injury that was initially described as an 8 week absence would've set a few alarms off for those worried about the age. For me, Digne wasn't the problem it was losing the competition we finally had at LB by losing Targett. Looks like a good moe for Digne though, hopefully we get that competition in the summer from either Hickey or Chrisene or someone
  22. Thread makes me sad because it's so negative but I don't disagree with it
  23. But the wording is he is 'being' moved on. As in, not his call.
