  1. I can't remember 6 so far this season, so I guess I'd start him Saturday ☺ Haha well yeah, this is the thing isn't it? He could turn up and wreak havoc on Arsenal's defence - alternatively, he could be a massive liability.
  2. That's not saying much - there are about 4 good teams in the division (Dynamo, Shakhtar, Dnipro and Metalist Kharkiv), the rest are really poor.
  3. That is impressive He's grown with every game - best prospect we've had since I can remember.
  4. Haha! The MLS! What?? He's far too good for that league.
  5. Ideally you want a full-back that can do both of course but if it's a choice between one or the other then I'll always prioritise defensive solidity in that position. Also, I don't think Richardson is strong offensively. Yes, he bombs forward but unlike Bacuna, no final-third quality. So he doesn't beat Cissokho enough in that department to warrant starting ahead of him in my opinion. I agree - Sherwood doesn't seem to though, unfortunately.
  6. Good. I was a bit worried that our main transfer target was going to be Luongo - I was hoping we'd be looking at players a lot closer to the finished article than him.
  7. I do shudder at the memory of Yowsless De La Cruz, tbf.
  8. Guzan's premier league record is still quite a lot better than a guy who has been known as 'Flappyhandski' at various times in his career.
  9. It's not laziness, is it? It was about priorities. That doesn't make it any better but let's at least be accurate.
  10. It was interesting watching the game and then watching the highlights back. If you'd just seen the highlights, you'd be wondering how me managed to get nothing from the game but the feeling when watching was that we just weren't going to score and it wasn't our day. Vlaar definitely should have taken his chance IMO. I'd generally agree with your marks this time, except for Grealish who I think warranted a higher score than a 5.
  11. Yes - definitely. If I were Liverpool, I'd definitely stick with Mario. (are they buying it yet? shhhh)
  12. Why has Vardy's name been mentioned so much anyway?
  13. I know hardly any Chelsea or Man City fans - I know a lot of fans of Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool however.
  14. Works for me - I think Fox has done well so far.
  15. I'm not looking forward to this game in any way, shape or form. Nor next season. I've literally never been this pessimistic as a Villa fan. Christ, I need to snap out of it.
  16. No he isn't ffs. He made a mistake but then he's been out for ages, it's no surprise he was rusty. And it was a lack of awareness of his man, not his skill in the air that led to the Ings goal. As we've already seen with Clark, time on the pitch is the only answer there. I said it with Clark and I'll say it again with Baker, it's too early to write him off now. Personally with Okore, these three lads are a big part of our future. It's who we get to play around them now that is key. Baker's already a good enough CB - he's just rusty as hell.
  17. Considering this is football, I'd say probably not.
  18. No he isn't ffs. He made a mistake but then he's been out for ages, it's no surprise he was rusty.
  19. He's a bloody dangerous player on his day. Unfortunately, he has about 6 'days' a season.
  20. We really need to focus our spending on a small number (2 or 3) quality additions - namely some full-backs that can defend and attack reasonably well because we've got ones that can do either but not both and it seems to be a big part of Sherwood's tactics.
  21. Premier league goalies I'd rather have than Guzan: De Gea Courtois Cech Lloris Hart None of whom are remotely close to gettable. I don't think we'd be able to get someone in who's noticeably better than Guzan and wouldn't cost us at least ten mil - so I just can't see how it's worth the hassle. We've got a good enough keeper at the moment and surely the money could be better spent in other areas? I.E. Two good fullbacks who can do the job Sherwood wants them to do.
  22. Awesome stuff Chewie, thanks for posting all of these.
  23. Firstly, they're all CBs and are clearly defined as such. Bacuna hasn't really made any position his own because his skillset doesn't really suit any position. Secondly, Clark and Baker had this said about them despite showing potential to grow into the role and young CBs make errors, it's how they learn. Anyone saying the above about Vlaar, at best, was/is just plain wrong. I haven't seen any performance from Bacuna that says to me that he can be a good enough first choice Right Back for us. I think his best position is probably as a RM, seeing as his crossing is good.
  24. Adelaide is absolutely crawling with Liverpool supporters and I can't handle him going there. The red shirts with his name on it the sudden elevation in their rating of him to world class striker the bullshit "it's a shame for you guys but really he did have to step up to a contender to further himself" lines as they battle for Europa League spots "Oh he didn't have anyone like Coutinho or Henderson feeding him the ball last year that's why he's so good now" I will **** go insane if he goes to Liverpool. I'd rather he go to West Brom. Makes your skin crawl just thinking about it, doesn't it? Urgh.
  25. Just being able to cross the ball isn't enough though Naz, definitely not in the current game. He's not defensively solid, he's prone to errors and doesn't make good decisions.
