I think some fans get nervous and anxious and say things they don't really mean. Some fans are just clearings in the woods. Personally, I've waited ages to see Villa play purposeful, attractive possession-based football and I don't care how long it takes to get it right as long as we're on the way, and that we are by the looks of it. Yesterday wasn't perfect. Who really thought it would be after 2 days training? There will be days it doesn't work out and his methods will be scrutinised. But as long as we stick to the plan and have patience good things will happen.

By Christmas Smiths doctrines should have well and truly sunk in. I think we'll see gradual improvement leading up to that. In the new year, all being well, and with some reinforcements, I can see us going on one hell of a run. It's definitely all to play for - including the title. Just stay in touch and keep improving and developing.

Agree that Grealish is still under par. But pretty much everybody else was better. And as has been pointed out, after a couple of days. It should get much better.

It is essentially Bruce's team. I'm not sure what you were expecting. I thought he might play Kodjia and Abraham. And Bolassie maybe but he's still not totally match fit. It's all about how they play though I guess. Plus the tactical changes as and when needed. It's a very atracking bench. Just finishing my pint... then I'm tabbing up there. Let's see how we go.

I choose to remember Merson the footballer. Because otherwise he's just a massive bellend. If Dean does well at Villa under NSWE, which will mean be back in the PL with massive resources, he will already be in possession of a top job.

I'd say Grealish has been a 6 or 7 out of 10 so far this season. Its not been great and I wonder how much the drana in the summer has affected him. Then I hear people suggest he's been our best player and that seems strange to me but I'm struggling to say who has been. McGinn? Hourihane? Kodjia? There isnt much to choose from so far. -
Smith will bring them into training with the seniors and if they deserve a chance they'll get one. Bruce didn't even take training so had no opinion on them. Which I find to be terribly negligent. For our youngsters it will be massively different. They will still have to take their chances - which is as it should be.

There are a few technically good players in the youth set up. Everybody should be trying to impress. Looks like a few have succeeded. Good. I'd like to see O'Hare in squads at least.

I agree that Chester has been below par compared to last season when Terry organised him. However he's not had a consistent partner, had a midfield leaking runners and no organisation from management. Jedinak on the other hand is not a centre half. He's a liability there. So I find it very easy to argue that its ridiculous to say Jefinsk is no worse than Chester. Watch how many times Smith plays Jedi at the back. Im guessing not at all.

The players will have to adapt to new methods, such as the manager actually being there, tactics and... stuff.

I was in favour of the idea and bravery of Henry but Smith makes perfect sense and he has my full backing. Looks like an NFL set up with a head coach under a Director or General Manager. Better for continuity. Im delighted with Terry back in the fold too. I strongly believed most good things last season came from his leadership and example and not Bruce. Looking forward to getting this show back on the road. I hope he can do it soon as we have ground to make up but its still very possible. Not expecting miracles though.

I'm fine with Faria. Passionate guy. Lots of success wherever he's been. Mourinho is clearly missing him. Terry as No2. Works well for me too. Players know him. Natural leader. All good for me.

How can Henry officially turn down something that hasnt been officially offered? Villa hadnt been in touch with the Belgian FA last we heard. Where is this rejection if its official? I still dont think there's one journalist who knows whats going on. Not one.
