    We've just spent 7m on a keeper. I think there's more than one way to skin a cat. You dont get any extra kudos or return because you spend a fortune and if we only do that because we have money then we're idiots. We could spend 50k on a left back, 7m on a keeper and 30m on a striker. So what? The only thing that matters is the team. Im sure many clubs turned their nose up at Vardy snd Alli.

    Then you need to consider if you're too reactionary. Give the guy a proper chance. This is still very much Bruces side and the players who are letting him down, in the main, are useless shitehawks that know they'll be gone soon. Yes, its still down to Smith to get a tune out of them, as he has most emphatically at times. But until he gets a chance to put his own squad together, he cannot be properly judged. If we keep up this cycle of changing guard every so often, we'll be going nowhere. Bruce was not a man you can build a future on. Smith is, in my opinion.

    Its the same every window. Unless you're one of the current elite or have a deal done well in advance, you're basicaaly waiting for the domino effect. To me, the Jan window means basically the last week in Jan as the summer window is late August.

    Smith doesn't get off scott free, nor would he expect to. But you can't seriously pin this on him yet. This is not even the beginings of his team. If we dont make the play offs, so be it. I still want to see his squad and ideas take shape. Only when that is more or less complete, will I properly judge him.

    I would argue that apart from the games where Terry was guiding him through, he has been poor. The only reason he plays is because we have nothing else. As soon as there is another viable option, I'd drop him.

    Fly tip Whelan, Bjarnasson and Jedinak. Hourihane too. Apart from the odd goal he offers nothing. Chester is shit, as is Elphick. Taylor is shit. Bree and Hause need time. El Ghazi has fallen off a cliff. There's so much work to do it's hard to know where to begin. But this godawful midfield is the obvious place. There is no good reason to start or bring Whelan on. Not in any scenario. Please, let that be the end of it. Two midfielders, a left back and a centre half as a priority. And use the kids more if these lazy bastards don't fancy it. That was disgusting yesterday.

    Well... This is all very depressing. I don't know wtf has happened to this team since November. We were never the complete team but this is awful. Don't know what say or think.

    I wouldn't be turning our nose up at players because they are short term. If they help us get promoted who cares if they're not our player in July? We have no option at left back with any kind of quality except perhaps Hause in an emergency. And who knows how good he is. Im not saying we should get Fuched... but I wouldn't turn down players on loan to fill a desperate need. And of course have one eye on the long term as well if possible.

    No way Smith had little say in transfers. Had to consult others maybe, some of who would be left to handle negotiation, but little say? Nah. He has a big say at Villa for instance. And it will be a committee system as well. Its not a new system or anything Brentford came up with. The NFL have been doing this for decades.

    Grealish will most likely be back in a few weeks. Cover for him is not something I would prioritise, and in any case, the player potentially coming in would know he's out as soon as Jacks back. Play O'Hare in front of McGinn and a new midfielder there in the meantime and just **** Whelan off.
