    Green easily looked Championship quality or better at times last season. He's just had injuries at times he looks like hitting his stride and its held him back. Start of last season for instance, when Davis was also emerging, Green looked very good. In particular, against Norwich at home. I hope he can get back to that level and pick up from there.

    Tbf, Brentford are doing a good job of following the Southampton model. Punting on the family silver every year without ever getting close to where you really want to go, so kudos. There will always be rich shmucks like Villa queuing up to buy it.

    Take your point. Our business has been mostly terrible. Personally, I would only crow if we kept good players, not sold them. Not interested in a profit margin I'll never see, just watching a good Villa team. For instance, the profit on Benteke, Barry, Milner, Downing, Young etc was never something I wanted to celebrate at the time. We lost good players and I was gutted.

    Who crows about selling players? What are the Mighty Bees going to do with mighty Bournemouths filthy lucre? Invest in another 40 backroom gurus? We didn't get a player we were going to overpay for. Is that better or worse than selling the family silver again? Who knows. We're not selling Kodjia to fund anything. If we do sell its because he is second choice and sulking. We'd need to replace him too, but I'm happy if we get the defenders and mids we need first.

    No, because each player had their own sporting directors, each with the kind of support Ivan Drago had in Rocky IV. Smith was merely the face of this. Little more than an automoton.

    I'm not at all surprised we offered that much tbf. I dont know what they've got up their sleeves regarding FFP and I dont really care. We have a guy on our board that wrote the rules. And mega rich owners who wipe their arse with 14m squid, with an army of financial people. I don't think Mepham is a big loss. Better than what we have, Axel aside. Hope we have some good alternatives though.

    I suppose Brentford fans know everything that goes on because unlike other clubs they have 2 Directors of rumours and gossip coaches and tittletattle analysts that feed info to fans in near real time through power point presentations.

    The squad are a mixbag of players that are crap. Players that are past it. Players that are good. Players that are are excellent. Players that are injured. Players that are gutless. Players that are lazy... I can't be arsed to draw a Venn diagram but basically there are too many in certain groups to progress and we need to change it asap. And as for comparisons to last season. I reckon there are still as many crap players in that squad, its just that certain players Terry, Grealish, Snodgrass etc are not around to carry the others. Just having Grealish and Axel back would make a huge difference. It's not Smiths fault he doesn't have them, just bad luck. When we did have them, we were playing some great stuff. We just can't cope without certain players and we won't until we get them back or get new ones. There isnt a manager in the world who could get a tune out of Taylor, Whelan, Hutton, Hourihane etc. They're just poor.

    Lord save us from scoring more than the opposition. Look, we have a proper left back, we win that game yesterday, and a few more too. We also need Grealish back. That was the difference last season and he has been under Smith too. We need to hurry up in the market and get the deals done. New CM(s) RB and LB asap.

    We have basically no options in some positions and yet there is still surprise when the only option, or one of two options starts. No Whelan anywhere is a bonus for me. But Taylor up against Bowen scares the shit out of me.

    I dont watch Burnley much, funnily enough, but Ive seen all the Ashley Westwood I ever want to see. I mean, Jesus what a terrible suggestion. Being marginally better than Whelan is not a good enough excuse to buy a player. Im marginally better than Whelan and I'd play for free.

    I don't think so. Chelsea saying they don't want to sell him aside, there is a cast iron contract that says they can't recall him after the 14th. They would have to recall him to sell him, so it looks like he's staying.
