  1. I would say specifically that it is. What with him being team manager and everything.I worded it badly I meant Lambert hasn't specifically looked to get Luna out the door he was probably listening to offers for Luna, Baker, Bennett, Clark and Stevens. Luna was the first one to gain interest
  2. Feel weird quoting myself but he's said that 1 was likely to go so any chance we had with Sinclair is dead in the water Now Rodwell has switched. He would have been a great signing in my opinion but not for that money. What about Zaha on loan? As a gamble but then every transfer we've made in the last few years has been in a way so why not see if our coaches can get him playing?
  3. I really like Bacuna and was hoping he would be playing this season, hopefully in a midfield role. Could play as a winger and would definitely offer support to Hutton/Lowton. His biggest attribute is his curse for me. Great utility player, but it means that noone knows where best to play him and he ends up on the bench
  4. I would say it's not Lambert that's let him go specifically, but more that we have 4 left backs and 2 centre backs who can play (not that well) there. With so much cover for this position in a small squad he was probably willing to listen to loan or permanent offers for any of these players except Richardson
  5. MK Dons manager has announced he would like to have Carruthers back at the club again for this coming season, so maybe the Villa Ireland page knew something? Looks like it's being discussed and it's just whether it will be a permanent or temporary switch
  6. Which I didn't say. I'm sorry I'm not trying to wind you up or anything but I wouldn't call people out on giving "grown up opinions" I don't think Richards comments were an attack on you, I think it's more a general point of how if we were in better shape our poorer players would be waved off and wished good luck rather than spoken of so negatively
  7. Blimey! Get over yourself mate. Crap players get criticised on public forums like this. It's a bit sad that certain people keep turning how you chose to support the club into a competition, certainly not befitting of a place which is intended to promote a grown-up exchange of opinions. Grown up opinions such as "he's the worst player I've seen play left back, ever"
  8. I'm travelling at the moment and there's a South Korean guy in my hostel who seems to believe Ki has left Swansea but doesn't know where he's going. Limited English but I'm guessing he's getting info from Korean football sites that might be making it up or might know more from Ki's side? The way it's fizzled out it looked to me like this was dead but thought I'd share anyways
  9. He's got a couple which are yet to cement. I think one of them was the same as the Darren Bent song, but now he's back in the frame so who knows! To be fair, he's one of the few players i'm really excited about and that makes me want to chant about him - sad i know.. No I get that it's just I think that the fans chanting his name when he's barely played for us could have a psychological effect on him. Might think he's made it when he's got a long time to prove himself yet
  10. I don't think it's about Steer being "ready" or not. He doesn't need to be ready as we have our #1 keeper and he's not gonna be displaced any time soon. And we can have a reserve keeper or Given with his vast experience on the bench. So as I say I don't think it shows that Lambert doesn't think he's ready. I think it shows that he's a young keeper that wants to be out playing games. Out of interest does anyone know the goalkeeping situation at Doncaster? Is Steer basically guaranteed to start or is there a chance he'll be sat on the bench the whole time?
  11. If LVG is so fitness-based then why is RVP coming back not fully fit? He managed him at the World Cup, and Vlaar. So you would think they were at the same level of fitness coming out the world cup,
  12. Let's call him Jack. I personally think he should earn a song. Doesn't need one written up for him expecting him to be amazing. Am I being ignorant or does Delph not have a song?
  13. All the best for the future, thanks for THAT goal
  14. Do people think N'Zogbia is best played centrally "in the hole", on the right, the left, or perhaps even as a LWB? I'd like to see him played from the start of the season to the right of a front 3 or behind a striker with 5 at the back. And then he's just got to deliver and turn into Wigan-CNZ
  15. --------------------Benteke Grealish-------------------------N'Zog NEWMIDFIELDNEWMIDFIELDNEWMIDFIELD ???????? - Vlaar ------Okore ------ ???????? ----------------------Guzan By everyone fully fit I mean basically the squad we currently have I would go 4-4-2 if he was playing, Bent Benteke Grealish Delph Westwood N'Zog Richardson Vlaar Okore Hutton Guzan It's just I currently think our strongest team with what we have would play 5-2-1-2 which would mean shoe-horning him in somewhere. Or just bringing him on to change our shape later in the game. What I'm trying to say is, if Lambert wants him to push for a 1st team spot but his strongest option formation wise involves wing-backs, would he be willing to change the team to fit Grealish in? Does he rate him that highly? Darren Bent up top and a midfield two of Westwood and Delph. Thank God you don't pick the team then I was making a point that playing Grealish effectively would be playing him out wide, which would probably mean a 4-4-2 formation. I did then explain that I think we would be stronger playing a 5-2-1-2 formation with the squad we currently have, or slightly more defensive 5-3-1-1 Guzan Bacuna Okore Vlaar Baker Richardson Westwood Delph N'Zogbia Benteke Bent Or take Bent out and put El Ahmadi between Delph and Westwood
  16. Deluded were the fans who fell for the young and hungry crap. Some of us more enlightened fans saw the truth right from the off. Who "fell" for it? We bought young and hungry players to reduce the wage bill. I think it would be hard to find someone on this forum who didn't realise this before the end of the first transfer window with Lambert
  17. I would say that Albrighton was actually very good at crossing and Lowton wasn't that bad either. And I feel with the players we have, crosses aren't going to be that necessary it'll be more about playing it through the middle.
  18. Please be really good Okore. Please
  19. I would say he'd look more clueless if he kept all his signings that didn't work and continued to ignore the bomb squad when he's been given permission to now use it. Sometimes managers make bad signings. If they can realise this and move them on then I think that shows signs of a good manager. I think we've got a better younger squad on lower wages than we did when Lambert joined us so I wouldn't say we've gone full circle. It's now off the field issues, as it always has been, but these are different off field issues now
  20. 21. Out of interest what formation would people play with Grealish in the team? And everyone fully fit?
  22. Not sure what's been discussed in this thread regarding Sinclair, but my mate is a Man City season ticket holder and he says that we are looking at getting Sinclair on a season long loan with the option to buy him in January for £3mil. We've also asked about Rodwell but that appears to be a complete non-mover. The stumbling block for both those players was that Man City have to meet a quota for English players in their Champions League team which they are close to not getting if the likes of the departed Lescott, Richards, Rodwell and Sinclair leave
  23. You've said young and hungry more times in your last 10 posts than the club have through PR in it's entire history. I would say somewhere between 1 and 5 percent of the fans believed the PR and the vast vast majority of fans realised it was cost cutting. We were bringing in young low league players on cheap wages to cut costs. Lowton was and is a good footballer but Hutton is an experienced RB who has had good seasons in this league and Scotland and played internationally. He's just a better option Just because a player is leaving doesn't mean we have to paint them and everyone else in the squad as lower-league standard at best.
  24. Can you name another club who have recently bought four players (eg Sylla, Tonev, Luna and Helenius) then moved them all on a year later? Interesting use of 'another club' when Villa haven't done it. Sylla was bought more than a year ago, Tonev hasn't been sold and Helenius/Luna are inexperienced young players who won't get a look-in going on loan for a season. I don't think that anything that's happened on the footballing side this transfer window has been bad, or embarrassing or unjustified. Especially when coupled with the restrictions and position of the club at the moment. If Tonev is loaned, hopefully he'll gain more experience and learn not to shoot constantly from impossible angles with poor technique. If he is sold, sensible option, cheap young signing that didn't work out, everyone moves on
  25. Was a fan of Hutton before he signed for us and he seems okay for Scotland. I think that the way he plays compared to how Mcleish wanted him to play resulted in him looking quite bad at times. I'm sad to see Lowton to go really. I think it's probably for the best to send him out on loan for a season, see if he gains more consistency and comes back a better defensive player. If not then thanks for the wonder goal against Stoke and you're incredible first touches on the chest. Good luck
