  1. Backup gk: Claudio Bravo Pros: 1. Experience at the highest level for not much money 2. Would get some game time in fa cup, league cup and conference 3. Great leader / mentor for our army of young gks, which it sounds like we have enough of to fill the north stand expansion on their own 4. Gets free bus tickets on a pensioner's pass so we can save on travel expenses Cons: 1. Gets free bus tickets on a pensioner's pass so we can save on travel expenses 2. It's Friday night and I've been drinking and I just thought about it while taking a piss, but in retrospect this is when I typically make poor decisions 3. Why do auto-feeding paper towel machines always give you too little paper to dry your hands? Not related to our backup gk problem but very relevant to my current situation
  2. Inserted an unnecessary comma - that'll be right up his alley. inb4 kenneth.jpeg

    LGBTQ+

I go further and say the LBGTQI+ community doesn't have singular agreed upon defined goals or ideals (beyond very broad basic human rights issues). Like any group of more than one person it's not a monolith. I know a bunch of people who are gay and if you put them in a room and asked them to agree on one thing they'd be in there for hours. Which is exactly like any other group of 10-20 people. People are different, even when they share a lot in common.
  4. Maybe if the mail didn't have four pop-ups, three and videos and 800 other ads as soon as you load a page I'd take them seriously. Now they're basically the online version of the free rag you used to deliver when you were 12 (but you just threw them in the bushes instead). I get they need ad revenue but the site is unusable.
  5. Need a young keeper with a high ceiling who sees the value in coming here to play in cup and ecl games whilst learning off Emi and Unai. Ideally someone where a lot of the work has already been done but we can get them cheap and take them up a few levels. In short, who's the baggies academy keeper?
  6. you had me refreshing the os all day so you win in the end!
  7. You need to update your profile pic. Gave me a heart attack.
  8. As someone with young kids let me tell you - it sticks more often than not.
  9. I'm sure it's in here already but I'm too lazy to search: Credits at the start of movies and TV shows. And the fact that "skip credits" is a button you have to click and not the default. Literally the only product that insists on telling you the names of the people who made it. Also: People who don't search post history to see if thier topic has already been covered. rocket polishers.
  10. A simple like isn't enough to express my appreciation of this masterpiece of a post.
  11. Letting him go is only a mistake if we don't sign another RB. I think it's a pretty big sign that someone will be coming in.
  12. It's similar to Villa having another gambling sponsor - do the club cash in now knowing everyone else will too, or sacrifice revenue for moral reasons. Main difference is gambling sponsorship has an end date, the Saudis are going to keep throwing insane money at players whether we sell to them or not. Realistically us not selling PC isn't going to put even a scratch in their plans. It's all so tiresome.
  13. Most Man U fans don't like him and certainly don't rate it as highly as we do. Can't see it tbh. Would need to be silly money and they won't pay it.
  14. I like him, but let me ask it this way - if he was a Spurs player on loan at Boro last season and we signed him, would you be happy with him as a backup for Ollie? Disclaimer: I don't have an answer to this question and it's Friday night. I drinked too much.
  15. Since we're on the cheery topic of Unsworth, let me introduce the Pau Torres / Villa curse sweepstake. My entry: Injury - ACL tear Game week - 4 Have a great weekend.
  16. For me Ferran Torres would be the most exciting link we've had so far this window in terms of attacking players. I think his ceiling is really high - it's a specific combination of circumstances that put him where he is. Some might say he's fighting for a first team spot, I think he's at risk of not fulfilling his potential for reasons that aren't related to ability. If (and that's the big question) he wants to work with Unai AND is driven to play regularly, I think he could be one of the signings of the season. So much upside, and Don Emery has already proven his ability to work magic with players in similar situations at Villa.
  17. Measured through ball with his weaker foot for the assist. If he played elsewhere and we signed him for £40m we'd be saying we got an absolute bargain.

  19. 1. There's no cut-off - I'm saying the UK has a longer history of football than Saudi Arabia. 2. Two or three generations is great, but again it's not the same. 3. Lots of countries are football mad. I'm not talking about the rights of the Saudi people to enjoy elite level football. The original tweet was referencing how the Premier League "hoovered up all the big players in Europe, splashing cash", and my point is that if any league is going to do that in the modern age where money has taken over everything, I'd prefer that it was one with historical stadiums and a rich history on the world footballing stage. UK, Spain, Italy, Germany, Brazil, Argentina, etc - take your pick. Fwiw I live in none of those countries. Personally I think the tweet is overblown anyway - I don't think the Saudi league will be in a position to compete with the Premier League for a long time.
  20. History of football? Their pro league was founded in 1976 Fans following a local club and passing that down the generations? It's not comparable. I'm not saying it's great that the Premier League dumped money into the game. But there's a difference that's at least worth noting.
  21. Fair, but at least we have history, the invention of the sport and a rich culture of football being passed from generation to generation on our side. Can't have jumpers for goalposts when it's 45C, but I guess going skins would be less annoying.
  22. They'll need a large chunk of that to replace Rice, which Torres won't do. Anyway, we're Aston Villa, we buy who we want*. *Unless PSG want them
  23. I don't think losing signal is a huge red flag for these guys. They had a previous descent where a journalist was on the mother ship and lost contact for over 2 hours. The ship's crew's response was to turn off the ship's WiFi. Given that Titan apparently has no navigation tools onboard and relies on text messages to and from the mother ship to navigate (which apparently are slow and spotty), you can see how cavilier the attitude towards safety was.
  24. You all take the piss but he'd be in the top ten best players for your Sunday league team. Probably.
