  1. Alan Pardew- has been in charge of Newcastle since Dec 2010 Sam Allardyce- has been in charge of West Ham since Jun 2011 Paul Lambert- has been in charge of Villa since Jun 2012 If the Geordies and the Hammers fans had their way, Pardew and Allardyce would have been long gone. A bit of perseverance from the relevant boards and no itchy trigger fingers and they are both flying high at the moment. Maybe in 12 months time we will see that Lerner has actually got this one right..... I hope that if we stay up, Lambert gets another season. If we go down, then he goes. He has arguably had a more difficult job to do than the others as well.
  2. Hutton absolutely brilliant, and I honestly think if we did not have him we would be in the relegation zone at the moment. Solid in the tackle, clever with the ball at his feet, and most importantly he knows how to slow the game down and relieve some of the pressure. Never thought I would ever say that!
  3. And let's be honest, the assistant is going to be identified by Paul Lambert alone. That automatically means that he won't be very good. He managed to get his left-back right the 3rd time around, maybe he can do the same with his assistant
  4. Sky Sports have just said that he had a bust up with a Villa player in training earlier this week.... I wonder who?
  5. I think he has been a great signing so far, and what makes it more pleasing is that Liverpool fans slated us for signing him, yet he looks twice as good as Moreno who they paid 12 million quid for. One thing I have noticed is that he does seem to get very tired late in games. From about the 75 minute mark onwards he always looks like he is running through treacle. I suppose that is what having to defend solidly does to a man who's not used to it though!
  6. i'm going to get shot down in flames here but............without Benteke/Kozak it is times like this we miss having Jordan Bowery on the bench! We need a more physical presence up top to hold the ball up and allow us to build from further up the field. We are lumping it long to Gabby and it is not sticking, so the defence doesn't have any time to get out.
  7. To an extent I suppose. Though I was thinking more of success in more prominent leagues/clubs. I can't think of any other than Robson in recent memory then. The closest would maybe McClaren winning the Dutch title with FC Twente, but they are not a big team and the Dutch league is not what it was.
  8. Roy Hodgson maybe? 6 domestic titles (5 in Sweden, 1 in Denmark)
  9. Jim Beam Black Cherry Red Stag- probably not one for the Bourbon connoisseurs but it is very easy to drink!
  10. Messi has just broken the La Liga goal scoring record with a hat-trick tonight. 253 league goals at the age of 27......phenomenal.
  11. Wouldn't you be annoyed if you were an Irish player and your place in the squad was taken by an Englishman? Stephen Quinn even called Jack Grealish a plastic paddy when we played against Hull. I have no problem with Sterling and Berahino. I wouldn't have taken Hargreaves or Barnes though. McCarthy out. The Scots will have to focus all their booing on McGeady. Don't Barnes and Sterling have pretty much the same back story though? Both were born in Kingston, Jamaica, and both moved to England at an early age (Barnes at 12, Sterling at 5).
  12. Ronald Koeman's strike rate from CB wasn't too shabby either. 239 goals in 685 appearances (although he did have all the pens and free kicks). There are plenty of strikers who be happy if they finished their career with those stats.
  13. Jesus! Even he couldn't save us now.....
  14. I played centre back in Sunday League for nearly 10 years until I did my ACL. (I know it is not quite the same level!!) I had it repaired and it everything is now fine physically, but it definitely affected me mentally. Where before I may have thrown my left leg into a tackle/block/massive hoof up field, after the injury I was subconsciously trying to do every thing with my right leg even if it wasn't natural. It affected the speed of my game and it ended up causing me back and hip problems so I packed it in. Although Jores' injury may have healed, he will still have to train his mind to trust his knee again and in my opinion that is the difficult part. U21 football is the place for him to do that, not a potential Premier League relegation battle where one hesitation or subconscious decision can be costly.
  15. Pets....people spend an awful lot of money on food, bedding, vaccinations even clothes for their pets, and some don't even go on holiday because of their pets. Why not spend the money on yourself and get tastier food, better clothes and nice holidays?
  16. We do have a striker on form!!...... 2 in the first half hour in the FA Cup tonight (on BT if anyone is interested)
  17. Savo at Wembley 1996. If that had been in an FA Cup final or scored by a 'top 4' striker it would be played over and over again. A perfect finish.
  18. Motorway drivers who race right up to your bumper with full beams on, then when you do decide to change lanes, drive past you at a tenth of a mph faster than you are going. 9 times out of 10 they are driving BMWs as well.
  19. I'm not sure whether he played he played well, or whether he was just as rubbish as the rest of them but it was just a different type of rubbish that I've not got used to watching yet....
  20. We don't know his duties or the scale of his role at Villa, but one thing we do know is that he is massive improvement on the two clowns that we had running training before - book or no book! I would much rather have a 'part-time' Roy Keane than a full time Karsa/Culverhouse combo.
  21. Nirvana- In Utero The Stone Roses- The Stone Roses Oasis- Heathen Chemistry Oasis-Definitely Maybe The Libertines- The Libertines Ocean Colour Scene- Moseley Shoals Arctic Monkeys- Whatever People Say... Muse- Origin of Symmetry Stereophonics- Performance and Cocktails JJ72- JJ72 In no particular order, and definitely not musically the best albums by some of the artists, but ones that remind me of good times and good people.
