  1. I've not long started watching season 1, bloody brilliant!
  2. I'd go with Chappy on this one, Blackburn are poor... Possibly the ideal time for Ireland to come into his own. Should be a convincing win, whether it will be remains to be seen.
  3. I think that was me that you are referring to ()... I was at gig at BarAcademy where they ran off to catch the end of the Bluetones next door? Playing with the Motorettes (or similar who they had a shared single/EP with)
  4. GarethRDR, love a bit of Kubichek! sad they fell away after one album, saw them many a time.
  5. I won't clap him, I've never really clapped a manager at Villa, I'll clap the team if they're playing well and some of that clap will be owed to Mr McCleish (if I was on the touchline as he wondered to the dugout/acknowledges fans I'll acknowledge back...) However, being as I will be working until 3:10 before I get a seat I doubt I'll have the opportunity.
  6. Lets just say that BAE's sales (?) department didn't do themselves any favours in the aftermath of the strategic defence review by ringing around governmental/politicians offices and swearing down the phone at their staffers.

Harsh they haven't been on the ball... Hooooooooooooof
  9. I'd say that statement was pretty accurate Pete. I am basing this on my own life experience and the blue boys and girls I have encountered. I'd say that's how many also view them and many of them also view themselves. I also agree, at university I recognised that I was incredibly privileged to have grown up where I did, had the parents I had and end up where I was, surrounded by, I'd say, 80-90% white middle class children. The young Tory who we had a little hustings with, was of the opinion that it was all down to application, which although possibly true, is affected by the former. As a result wasn't keen on welfare state and extension of policies promoting social mobility, and yes he did wear colourful blazers.
  10. Hate to pick up on this as it is the wrong choice, but bullshit. Both Labour and the Tories were tied to the Browne Review whose recommendations were worse than what we have now. I happen to think in terms of repayment it is better (as does more for cost of living for graduates), what I think is entirely wrong is the fact that this was coupled with the withdrawal of (non-fee) funding from non science/engineering subjects.
  11. Saw something that amused me: Osborne: By eliminating growth, I've abolished boom and bust
  12. Is it still the fax that rules in football or have they moved on since the 80s? I constantly see faxes referred to, but it seems a bit old school.
  13. I might stay on top of my team if that comes about.

  15. Peterms, LVT is one of the reasons I joined the Lib Dems a few years ago... There is within (the non-governmental) party a real enthusiasm for it. Whilst I do think there are some practical issues it would encourage the sensible distribution of property and stamp out a fair amount of tax avoidance.
  16. The last time they shared something conclusive it was McCleish, keep it to yourselves guys...
  17. He's signed and gone - that was quick and painful.
  18. Seldom, I suppose when Utd. signed Bossie they may have been excited, I know I was gutted...

    Do you read?

Currently on the last of the millenium trilogy - The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest. I've enjoyed all three, brilliant crime fiction.
  20. I think it will be a solid, if uninspiring, signing - he'll be key to a good season if he is here.
  21. Christ that Bullard tackle was horrible!
