  1. Like to see him playing a bit this year, with Heskey being shipped out (I'm led to believe Heskey is currently the clubs top earner), I think he has a lot to contribute!
  2. Is he as good as Ethan Moore though SGC? I say that more half hearted than usual.
  3. Wonder if Mat Kendrick could turn on the Paxman in the PC.... "So last season you relegated your club for the second time in four seasons, you've finished third in a two horse race in Scotland. Congratulations, you must feel like the luckiest man alive?"
  4. If I'm not very much mistaken Doug said Sir Alex had recommended David O'Leary... Not sure I trust that judgement!
  5. No the deficit was entirely caused by spending more than taxation. The extent of it was driven upwards by the crisis - the reaction was IMHO correct though. As would following a slower deficit reduction plan especially if it included a different blend of tax increase (on rich) vs. spending reduction.
  6. I like it... No idea why, just think it looks 'right'
  7. Yes, I do tend to agree with you Mike. Worked very hard down in Cornwall (partly to keep the Tories out), lost in two seats... Was absolutely gutting. For the moment I will take some of the smaller victories, hopefully we've stopped the NHS reforms from the grassroots (not the PP who were preparing to vote them through).
  8. I'm not sure to be honest, I struggling to see where the leadership would come from... But its not all sunshine and roses, that is for sure... If Clegg were to start talking about electoral pacts however, I think that would definitely cause a breakaway. The coalition looks a lot better on paper than in play, something we have in common with Villa this season!
  9. In theory yes, minority government would have failed (particularly when built on a combination of LD/Lab/Nationalists etc.)
  10. Indeed. Some of the Tory local campaign material that has come through our door has been pretty virulently anti-Clegg/LibDems. SAme here with the Lib Dem's about the Tories We (well most of my local party) do still genuinely hate the Tories though... What I hope AV may do is see the development of a genuine social liberal party. That is what I am (and the majority of Lib Dems - not the leadership_, just economic buggers tainting my once good name. I have put out some leaflets on behalf of a local councillor I don't think I have mentioned the Tories or Labour for that matter. I will be on the next leaflet, but it will remain local.
  11. Also reported by The Times and Mat Kendrick has said something vague on Twitter.

@DaleMCox is moi... tweets of a politicsy nature mainly
  13. @Minnie Ireland isn't pushing to move out, Houllier is attempting to push him out... He still feels he has a contribution to make, I tend to agree with that an hope he can be reintergrated as soon as possible.
  14. In this case the manager is as much, no more at fault than the player (who has been quiet), who could reasonably be distressed by the treatment given to him week after week in the media.
  15. Hmmmm.... On his managerial record he's hardly an astounding failure, I will back whoever comes in... Houllier could well provide a really grand couple of years paving the way for a new manager (who will become available in that time). Treat the appointment with healthy scepticism by all means - not with outright hate (it's not like we're employing Graeme Souness is it?)
  16. I agree with snowychap on this page.... This is all.
  17. As a Lib Dem activist who campaigned against a tide of Toryism in the South West I am far from happy. I am still holding out hope that the rebellions will rise and that more will follow the likes of Andrew George and Mike Hancock in voting against some of the awful policy. I do think that there are some very good parliamentarians in both parties, the leadership however has come up with a higgledepigglede compromise that won't work for anyone... I remain committed, but sceptical... This is far from ideal, I do hold out some hope on the positives (civil liberties, higher income tax rate, stopping the worst excesses of the Tories)... At the end of the day the coalition agreement looked very good on paper for Liberal Democrats - in reality it is looking far from it. Party conferences will be the most interesting they have been in quite some time.
  18. Just read the justice for Lee Mockble petition. It's sickening, my favourite one is the made up fact that Priest was on the floor when he was hit, despite the injuries been consistent with hitting him when standing. That is really, just, wrong.
  19. Someone that will take the Labour party back to its roots. The new Labour project was a case of '**** the core vote who else have they got'... Need to go back to them and be the Labour party not a set of pseudo Tories. I went with Ed Milliband who appears to be more in that vain than David. Crudas is a good shout though.
  20. Oh, and Theresa May... WHY? Voting record shows her to be more homophobic that Grayling. Hardly Brown's window dressing either!
  21. Hmmm... The view of a Lib Dem here: I loathe the Tories, I'm not particularly enamoured at working with them. It will probably cost us dear at the ballot box, I've seen a lot of abuse aimed at the Cornish party since it happened. But... I think that the deal is actually very good. £10K tax threshold delighted. Saved the Human Rights Act. Freedom Bill (I hope). Schools investment. Chance of a change to voting system, lobbying transparency. My opinion is that the deal has diluted the inevitable suffering and saved us from an unfettered Conservative government!
  22. Seems to be a bit of a downer on Carew, I thought he played splendidly when he was on the pitch... Some really good flick-ons and pressure (unfortunate to be offside for his goal...). Gabby on the other hand really really needs to learn how to shoot, it's all well and good having your Heskey's and Carew's for flick ons pressuring the keeper into mistakes etc. but when you don't have a decent finisher (Gab was woeful today, Bent would have had a hat-trick or at least two goals from those opportunities) to capitalise on these bits of work there really is no point. Carew 7.5.
  23. Good game, referee really lost it in the last twenty minutes, which is a shame.... he forgot that obstruction is an offence see Heskey and Distan/ Carew/Heitinga (sp?)... Red was a yellow and Cuellar's second definitely wasn't a card if a foul at all.... Lost it.
