Yep. Collymore was the only one who used his platform to ask serious questions, but he still got a lot of grief from villa fans.

Looking forward to seeing him against Bournemouth. Think he will have a point to prove and it will be much better circumstances for him. I think he opens his account.

Where did I excuse Bruce for his part? I've criticised him numerous times for this signing, and said he is responsible m. But it isn't his fault Hogan is shit.

It is impossible to not separate them. One is about the talent of the player and the other about bringing him to the club. They're 2 completely different issues.

That adds to the fact Bruce is to blame for the signing. It's not his fault that Hogan is a shit player.

But none of them only scored goals because we played direct at times.

They did. But with that one i'm pretty sure they corrected it within a day.

That's where i got them from and usually they correct mistakes pretty quickly. I struggled to believe it and it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't correct but also we did really not keep the ball well and i don't remember him being on the ball much. He did a lot of running, pressing and tackling.

Yep, luiz made 5 in 9 minutes. Jack made 30 passes and connor 22 compared to Mcginn's 6. He played well and did his defensive work well but i think that was part of our issue in that we could not keep the ball He's too good for us not to get involved more when we have the ball

I was quite surprised to see some of his stats from the game. One of the lowest amounts of touches of the ball and completed 6 passes in 90 minutes. Scored a goal, worked hard and pressured well, but along with el ghazi and wesley, seems to be part of the issue why we couldn't keep the ball.

You won't find many fans who enjoy criticising Bruce more than me, however there is no way anyone can blame bruce's tactics for Scott Hogan being awful. Not many villa players have had myths built up around them than Hogan. World class movement and goals given the right service all became laughable the more he played. One 30 game spell of being good in the championship. That's because he isn't very good, nothing to do with Bruce. Now if you want to complain about a panic signing and a complete waste of money, then Bruce takes some of the blame.

I remember it and I was definitely one of the idiots who said he can't be worse than lerner. I didn't think we could be that unlucky. It will certainly make me think more in the future.

After watching lots of football this weekend, there are really only a handful of teams we should really fear playing. I feel we can be competitive in most games this year.

Sitting 2 places above our target with some real positives. I'll take that after week 1.

I think fans expectations could really hurt us this year. I'm hopeful those selling out VP are the realistic ones. Look at Sheff Utd yesterday, fans going absolutely mental because they got a draw at bournemouth. This is the mentality we need to adapt to for this season.

It was a really tough game for him to make his debut. I'm certainly not writing him off. It was just a very poor performance. A lot of it is down to the situation

We don't need. Fans need to get these stupid ideas of us finishing higher out of their heads. If we finish higher then great. But there is one goal this year and that is to finish 17th. As a club we need to change our mindset for 12 months. Never before has 17th been an achievement, so i get why people will struggle to change but we really need to.

I hope most fans keep the realistic thought of 17th being a major success for this club. Losing to a spurs team missing some key players will have no affect on our end goal

We dodged a bullet with butland for that price.

We needed to try and keep the ball, none of our front 3 were doing it, so I could see why he came on. However we had no one offering support and had no time to get players forward. Jota could do little.

Poor when he came on but such a difficult game to make your premier league debut in. The gulf in class yesterday was huge but we don't need to finish close to spurs we need to finish 17th. I think against the likes of bournemouth, barnsley, southampton etc.. Kodjia will show us he can contribute. I thought the sub was the right one. Wesley was contributing very little and we needed to try something different.
