Yep. I've haven't seen them play much but i'm confident that trezeguet is better than adomah and luiz and nakamaba are better than whelan.

So if we'd kept those 3 players and only signed a few premier league players we'd be short in certain areas. Seems risky to me.

We have guilbert, elmo and bree. Is hutton needed as back up? So you wouldn't have signed nakamaba or luiz to give Whelan a contract extension? Who would your starting dm have been?

You're right it was an extreme comparison. I still think the idea of not doing what we've done is madness What doesn't help is that Genie seems unable to state who he would have kept and who he wouldn't have signed Just that we shouldn't have signed so many players.

Of course. The alternative was so ridiculous. There are no guaranteed ways to do it so no one knows. Unless all of a sudden you're the guy to figure out the exact way to plan and carry out guaranteed success in professional football. Listening to Big Sam makes me think you probably aren't.

No no no. I have reservations about it and i'm not 100% convinced that every signing will hit and we will be amazing. However, the alternative approach would have been ridiculous. This was the smart and ambitious thing to do. Will it work? No one knows yet but it was without a doubt the right thing to do

Because its so clearly wrong. If my opinion was that hourihane should be our lone striker this season, i'd be jumped on because although it is my opinion its just a ridiculous one.

This all day. Any approach would have its risks but this is clearly the smart approach. I mean seriously, imagine if we'd given new deals to hutton, whelan and jedinak. As Zatman said, we'd have been laughed at. Forget doing a fulham, it would have been doing a villa from 3 years ago

But your final point is why people are struggling. It's quite clearly less of a risk than giving contracts to hutton, whelan and jedinak and hoping they can perform at this level. When there is no real alternative approach it seems strange to criticise the one that makes the most sense and carries the least amount of risk.

Some people are going way over the top. 12 months ago steer was going on loan to charlton. He is now on premier league wages and back up to a top keeper. Get a grip people

I'm sure he did. I'm also sure both players made it clear to him they wouldn't be coming back. There is no way anyone at villa has spent time trying to sign either of them for us this summer. Madness.

Nothing we can do to speed up the work permits. Its a long season, they will be in there soon enough
