    Watches

It just society nowadays really ... sometimes it's about the wine you drink , or the car you drive .. watches seems to be the new thing some of the younger lads I used to play football with could barely afford to eat because they had invested everything into some watch the size of big Ben on their wrist I try avoid any parent social gathering at my childrens school because all the men want to do is talk about if their Porsche is better than their Aston or how long it took them to decide which watch to wear to tonight's get together ... each to their own I guess , personally I spend my money on holidays / travel ..... and after all I have been known to bore (or boar :winkold:) to death about my travels
  2. I believe Spurs currently have a new catchy little number based around i wanna go home - Beach Boys sadly they are having a few teething troubles getting the lyrics to fit : His dad has never worked with elephants (or any animal for that matter)and his mum is a respectable lady as it turns out, works in asda in colindale.

    Watches

I'm happy with my mobile phone for telling the time it even has the ability to wake me up in the morning via a feature called an "alarm" Just not my thing
  5. Another £469m to add to the "Squandered by labour" tally A project to replace fire and rescue control rooms in England with nine regional centres ended in "complete failure" and cost the taxpayer £469m, MPs have found. Full story brought to your from a part of the Murdoch empire , evil since 2009
  6. Stupid in who's estimation? that's a fair question , it's not like we should make people sit an IQ test before they go to vote .. though I do understand what Risso is getting at with his post .... However my guess is if stupid people weren't allowed to vote, there would be no Labour party :winkold:

    Running

8 weeks post op .. and I started up again First day back I did 10 min run on the treadmill , 15 mins the 2nd time and then third visit and 30 mins and just over 5k Fitness doesn't seem to have totally deserted me , it's more a case of pain management now and not over doing it , the difficulty for me is that previously I was always very fast runner and it's hard for me to run slowly if that makes sense .. it's just not a natural rhythm and stride for me when I trott along at 10 km as i'm having to do at the moment ... The temptation was to crank up the speed on Friday as I felt really really good but i resisted .... I'm nursing it along and building up the knee strength ... hoping to be able to start running outside again soon as I really hate treadmills ..can't beat the feel of rain in your face as you run

    Do you read?

i like Alex Berensen ..he has a series with a character called John Wells ..first book in particular is rather good (The faithful spy)
  9. as there is currently a load outside my hotel room ..people that have conversations in hotel corridors ...i dont really care about your breakfast arrangements thank you very much ..now sod off
  10. not tried this before as usually i just take direct flights but I've found a flight option to get me to Beijing next year with a 1 day stop off in Helsinki on the way back .. London - Beijing- Helsinki - London is £570 if I remove the London Leg from the trip it goes up to £900 so i need to keep the London leg in when i purchase however my plan is have the night in Helsinki then take the ferry over to Estonia and fly back from there a few days later with Estonain Air (the £570 flight only comes up on that specific date otherwise I'd have just gone for a Helsinki flight a few days later but it goes up to £890) If I buy the £570 ticket and don't take the last flight can the airline charge me anything extra (i.e the difference between £900 and £570 ) or do they really not care if I don't turn up for it ?
  11. does it involve loads of long haired lazy people in Che Guevara T-shirts getting record number of passes whilst everyone over the age of 30 moans that exams were much harder when they were younger ?
  12. Fixed tbh I think Israel has been outmanoeuvred here .. 126 states are poised to back the Palestinian request ,even if the US do veto , recognition will still help the Palestine cause greatly , making the conflict a legal matter and bringing in the prospect of Human rights for example .

    Do you read?

bit of light reading at present so I'm on "How Not to be a professional footballer" by Paul Merson he reckons he blew £7m on gambling , drugs and drink few Villa mentions so far but none of it flattering
  14. yet more large company wastage ... The empire was built when you only got a day off if you died , no wonder this country has gone to the dogs ....
  15. companies like IBM paying people to browse Villatalk ? :winkold: personally I blame it on the bloke who sold it to the French ** cough Gordon cough **
  16. 178 -3 at lunch .... Way to go Mystic Meg :-)
  17. I see Sarkozy is in Libya today ..is it to sign surrender terms ?
  18. I have a google + account but only as I was invited and wanted to have a look .. had a look and the result was I just couldn't be arsed to get started with it but tbh Facebook is tailing off as well from what i can see ..it was a great tool , for getting back in touch with people but it's kinda much nicer to go out and meet them in the flesh or chat on the phone once you've made that contact ... I still use it for friends / family overseas and when I'm bored etc at work but it seems to have lost it's novelty factor these days ..
  19. there is only one thing Bicks sees in Wales and it's usually in a field wearing Wellies
  20. Warwicks still have to bat again and there is a full day tomorrow .. still a bit early to throw in the towel isn't it ? Go on the Surrey :-)
  21. In the only match that matters surely only the weather can stop the mighty Surrey in their promotion bid now ...
  22. :-) I guess for me the problem is I'm on limited time , ultimately I'm travelling about and taking a few snaps along the way and then moaning they are not a work of art afterwards .. the depth of field etc is something I need to look into , I tend to work on full auto and let the camera do everything for me .. though I could probably "shop" them a bit and give it something a bit extra in terms of composition ?? Despite the tip off I fell into the trap .... tbh the stag in the field isn't the sort of photo I'd take , maybe it's a personal style thing but I'd probably have deleted it (same with the sunflowers) , I tend to like my subject to fill the screen , though I then take you point about the surrounding landscape The animals doing something more interesting ... I met a photographer in Tanzania one time who had stunning shots of a leopard dragging a deer carcass up a tree ..only took her 4 weeks in a hideout by the tree to get the shot !! she had some amazing shots though
  23. The recession begin ..2008 ..the biggest jump in unemployment being in 2009.. as it's early and the coffee hasn't kicked in yet could you remind me when "this" government got into power ? a 2008 study by researchers at Cambridge University showed The North-South divide had widened to a 60-year high under Labour :-) For the record I understood it perfectly and can't see why the last 2 pages have turned into a VT who has the best qualifications debate
