  1. We should start by giving the 200 odd people that were let go their jobs back
  2. We also have a banner every week saying "Lerner Out" I don't think banners work!
  3. You're probably right but isn't it the point of the forum to discuss the club? What's best, what isn't? Potential signings? etc...
  4. You may be right but that was never my original point. Please re-read my comments. The discussion is whether the purchase of Aston Villa by supporters is possible. It's unlikely, agreed, but not impossible. I will also make the point (yet again) that the buyers of Aston Villa do not need to be located in Birmingham. There are supporters world wide and some, I expect, are wealthy. Also, the cost associated with buying Villa and running the club is not 1 billion. This is an assumption with no evidence but to suggest it costs 1 billion to be competitive, in my opinion, is wrong.
  5. Curious to know the source for all of those figures quoted. The last one doesn't make sense to me - does Aston Villa have zero revenue? Are we really losing £300m per year? No wonder Lerner wants out.
  6. I have no idea if you're suggesting the 1 billion figure is absurd or the idea of buying Aston Villa?
  7. Portsmouth and Wycombe to name two but I'm not sure why that's relevant. Is it harder to buy an English team than it is a German team, for example? Where am I getting a billion? Where are you getting a billion? Have Leicester spent a billion? If you have a point, I look forward to hearing it ;-)
  8. You're assuming the only people that would want a share in Aston Villa are local to, and regularly visit, Villa Park. It would not be impossible. Clearly it would be possible since other teams are owned by their fans. It may not be easy, but it's possible.
  9. Asking the important questions in the transfer deadline thread...
  10. Anybody have significant expertise is setting up a private equity fund? Look for total capital commitment of 200 million with 100 million in year 1. Initially invest in liquid assets such as money markets until 100 million is reached and then the fund buys the club. A supporters trust is the main investor with fans buying voting rights, £1 per vote. Assuming 40,000 fans that's £2500 each in the year 1 capital call to reach the £100 million to buy the club. Additional investors welcome if their subscription into the private equity fund is voted in by the Trust, i.e the supporters. (might need to be separate entity) The Trust should remain the majority shareholder ensuring the fans control the club. Remaining 100 million is called in year 2 with cash invested into the club, in whatever way the Trust decides. Anyway, we all have dreams. This is one of mine...
  11. Who do you believe is responsible for our certain relegation this season? Garde? Sherwood? Team? Lerner? Himself? (I'm sure he will give some "collective responsibility" bullshit. The only way he comes away from it with credit is if he says himself or McLeish )
  12. I think this kid would be better if played up front with Ayew If he beats the defender he will hopefully be through on goal. If not, perhaps he can at least pull a defender out of position.
  13. Christ lads, give it a rest the two of you.
  14. 1. We signed Lescott 2. That concludes our summer transfer activity
  15. We should still play the full 11 though, just to be sure
  16. Didn't like the way he faked being hit in the chest Could do without that play acting in the game. Bullshit.
  17. Not sure if posted and robbed from reddit "Grealish to the left of me, Traore to the right here am I stuck in the middle Ayew"
  18. Imagine we finish above Liverpool this season...
  19. I've heard £26m which seems steep for a 29yr old. How will that impact on our FFP figures More importantly that brings up our net spend, so this is a good thing.
  20. No. Edit: I have no idea what's gong on in here.
