  1. Randy drove his Chevy to levee, but the levee was dry...
  2. Only if he is daft enough to walk - he won't get the tin tack This ..... The only way he will go is if we get relegated. I am depressed about next season already. AM will lose us our 100% premier league status!
  3. I think the problem is that Randy Lerner underestimated how hard it was to fill the stadium and increase the revenues at the biggest club in England's second city. He has missed totally in the revenue side, and thus the wages that he felt were ok to pay out, indeed was too much too handle for the club. And regarding accounting techincals. Milner was bought for 12 mill, got a 4 year contract and was sold for 26 mill after 2 years. The profit on that deal should be 20 mill. That makes the reported numbers even worse and makes me wonder what the hell is going on. Depending on the source Milner was sold for 26m or 24m on a cash plus player basis I.e. Ireland who was said to be worth £8m so the cash was 16m or 18m. Another fantastic deal by our amateur CEO! There are regular references to how much MON wasted. How much has PF wasted? Houllier, McLeish, Ireland - clearing in the woods!
  4. I wonder how the vote would have gone had the choice been Ellis, Lerner or "A Billionaire who has cash to Spend"
  5. I have voted no, but feel that Lerner also has to review the position of Paul Faulkner as CEO who IMO has been an unmitigated disaster. How about a Poll regarding the CEO?
  6. Oh btw he owns the Four Season George V Hotel in Paris and a 10% stake in Euro Disney near Paris. You never know.....
  7. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Al-Waleed This is the guy who was interested in Everton. He is the son of Prince Talal bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud Assuming Swerbs info is correct this could be very interesting. Prior to Lerner taking over i was told specifically that "Saudis" were interested in buying the club and funnily enough back then they also were said to have visited BH in the June or July. FWIW This guy's father incidentally is considered one of the good guys, a liberal reformer who wanted Saudi Arabia to move away from an absolute to constitutional monarchy.
  8. Agreed, protesting is pointless. Whilst I agree that that protesters have to be credible, I don't agree that "protesting is pointless" - if nothing else it reminds the club that the fans (their customers) are pissed off. the £ protests some years ago had some effect and my sense is that RL and PF are not as thick skinned as people think. An organised protest will probably be a damp squib, like so many before, but the booing of warnock (I didn't agree with it) may be a foretaste of more vocal stuff to come. I can't imagine Villa fans chanting "Lerner Out" but you never know.
  9. I really don't blame AM personally, any one of us and 100's of football managers would have ripped Lerners arm off to manage AVFC but I am quite frankly surprised that it hasn't become "poisonous" before now considering some of the results at VP. My sense is that the lid will blow off any time soon. Not because we stand any chance of being relegated but because of the realisation that we are back where we started 5 years ago - going nowhere. Rightly or wrongly we have always aspired to greater things and as with Ellis we are now having to face the reality that RL wasn't our fairy godmother after all! We are not going to the ball unless he sells to an Arab Prince Ali Charming and even then our success could be fleeting but the carriage ride would be more interesting than the current Pony & Trap.
  10. I don't know whether any protest will take place but I see no reason why fans if they have paid their cash cannot make their dissatisfaction known. Personally looking around VP at the empty seats is more embarrassing than seeing the odd banner. I have attended many protests over the years, put up banners at VP etc - don't know whether they made any difference ultimately but at the time they were a means of venting frustration. The reality is that many fans are protesting in abstensia by not attending matches as many did during ellis's time. I will continue to attend matches for now, I will never boo but I might furrow my brow and say a few choice words, but the journey home from VP to Bournemouth after losses and draws is becoming increasingly depressing. I very much doubt I will renew my 4 x ST if the club continues in the same vein. AM is but a symptom of a the club being back on the downward slop - whatever RL says he is not the man who took us over now. This time I will take the easy way out and simply be apathetic and use the money to do something that doesn't make me pissed off so often. I've done the "thick and thin" support for decades but as ST sales will prove this year, thousands of fans will just give up on Villa and sadly many will never return!
  11. Why do people still think Craig Gardner is any good? when he was here he was at best an ordinary player with little vision or skill. His brother Gary however is a real talent with great potential.
  12. Great result, fantasic goal by Keane! Now win at home!
  13. Haven’t they worked out that McLeish could take us down :!: :!:
  14. There is no denying Stan struggles to make it past 60-70 mins but if all our team gave his amount of blood, sweat and tears we would be a handful. Excellent professional!
  15. 'Kin Hell - great result!!! Maybe Randy Lerner will show up against the Swans?
  16. Since when did a minor thigh strain result in missing three matches? He's off!!!
  17. Merry Christmas to all VT'ers and your families UTV!
