  1. Mate, that is an epic description of the city as a whole Southampton makes Coventry seem interesting Bicks, to be fair Soton is bad but Coventry is a sh*thole without equal!
  2. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his Claret & Blue army! Bit of a mouthful!
  3. Bump - lets not forget Stan - I wonder how He is - anyone know?
  4. Have no idea whether Villaonsea is a wind up but given the facts that AM was tasked with driving wages down, revenues in 11/12 were shite and ST sales for 12/3 are probably still way down, I think whoever is made manager will have a limited budget and have to sell if they want to spend more. I know it's stating the obvious to some extent but I think the rumours that RL was prepared to make another big investment this summers are unlikely.
  5. Fwiw I reckon Lambert is nailed on for the Villa job!
  6. No, I believe he is from Norwich, ironically. Correct and originally a Norwich fan :!:
  7. Are you on a wind up? I don't think even Mourihno would keep us up next year with that team! Ridgewell - FFS!!!!!!!
  8. As the old saying goes you can not make "a silk purse out of a sows ear"!! Our squad is woeful with not a great number of exceptions. We need a signifcant influx of players to turn the club around and the old guard have to go.
  9. After the entirely negative year under AM, my sincere hope is that RL will realise that we need a progressive manager who can give us some hope for the future. I am no spring chicken but I would be prepared to give the right manager 3-5 years to build the club back to the point where we have a chance of competing. Newcastle, Arsenal have shown it can be done. We need an Aston Villa that can eventually compete and play attractive football. What I would not be happy with is appointing a manager who been there done it and won f**k all - i.e. Bruce, Allardyce, Curbishley....
  10. I agree with the sentiment if not neccessarily the names you mention. More specifically i would like the club to appoint someone with football experience to the board. Not as a Director of Football but purely someone who understands the culture of the game. As regards the other comments about McLeish's departure only being step 1, I appreciate that appointing the right manager is critical to win the fans back and hope the club have learned their lesson and don't balls it up again.
  11. This.... Krulak was an embarrassment to the club and insulted the fans but he is like the other one now history!
  12. Obviously the last two seasons have been terrible with the last being torture for the fans. Randy Lerner's words in sacking AM suggest at long last that he understands the feelings of the fans and the need to to get our club moving forward again. While I accept that many of us will remain somewhat sceptical till we see who the new manager is and whether he will be supported by the board, I feel it is now time for the fans to back the club by where possible buying or renewing ST's. The club in return need to understand that the fans loyalty cannot be taken for granted and that they must repair the relationship and deliver our "collective expectations". In contrast to the heady days when Randy Lerner took over the club, during the last two seasons the club's PR has been appalling. They need to urgently consider how they can improve communications with the fans, recognise that ultimately we are the club and give us a vision for the future. When McLeish was appointed we said the board were wrong and we were right! It wasnt about where he was from it was about where he had taken us. That said in my humble opinion we now need to draw a line in the sand and get behind the club.
  13. BBC's Pat Murphy reporting that McLeish has said farewells to player at BH
  14. McLeish GET OUT OF OUR CLUB!!!!!
  15. Wtf is going on!!!!!!!!!! Trouble is, if true, nobody will be surprised!!
  16. Hate to say it but I really fear he is staying - next season is going to be an even bigger nightmare!!
  17. He got out a few times briefly and the first time I shouted SIT DOWN MCLEISH and he promptly did so. Prompted a good laugh round us!
  18. As a kid one of my dreams was to play at Villa Park in Aston Villa strip and score a goal at the Holte End. Well my dream didn't come true but after the Spurs game today, an English Lions Supporters Club team played the International Supporters Clubs winning 5-3. My 19 year old son scored the 4th a volley into the Holte End goal!!!!! Proud Dad
  19. Kind of sums up my earlier point. Who cares? I guess we should, shouldn't we? Do you honestly think Collins performs to be best of his potential being, some say, a pisshead? At least I care about that. Loads of players do this all the time? Really? Maybe some of the second and third best do. Are ManU players doing "this" "all the time"? Arsenal? Surely not. Best teams act in a professional manner. We don't. One reason why we are where we are. Absolutely not the only reason, but definately one of them. What players get up to in their personal lives is irrelevant. I just don't care about it at all. If you do, fine, but I personally don't. Players aren't paid to behave like Saint Agnes of Rome - they're paid to play football. Well said. Load of bollox - if we were doing well nobody would give a damn.
