  1. Which means nothing, it could be Ridgewell, Carr or someother lower league clogger Very true - only passing on what I heard 8)
  2. Met some fans from Sutton in the '82 lounge last night who had been to Cleveland Browns game (I cant remember when they went) - said they had a long chat with Randy Lerner who talked about a number of highly paid players that would be off the books by the summer. He told them that once the decks were cleared of said players there would be further investment. They didnt discuss January transfer window.
  3. Cambridge is closer to QPR than Villa add traffic times through the centre of London and I think you will find it takes a fair bit longer to get to. It's academic really. I doubt he would travel through the centre but in any case if he's off Would the travelling distance really be a factor. As far as SAFC fans were considered he was well committed to them. At the time he was said to have been unhappy with the service he was receiving and that he relished the prospect of playing with Young & Downing (and the 80k per week was a possible factor. At the time of his signing we were relegation candidates so I assume he had clauses in his contract in the event the worst happening. As I've said I remain sceptical and wouldnt be surprised if he is off at the end of the season. When I travel up to VP tonight it will be interested to hear the rumours coming out of the club.
  4. And the bit where he says he is staying and committed? And how many times have players at various clubs claimed to be committed only to **** off shortly after. I remain sceptical and his departure wouldn't surprise me maybe not January but next summer.
  5. When I was told on Sunday at VP that Bent had had a bust up and gone home the same person said that he had been "tapped up" by QPR. At the time I didn't think the QPR story was feasible and didnt say anything but having heard the rumours from a mate this morning on SKY, Birmingham Mail etc etc about a link to QPR and that AM has said DB may not play tonight I think as the saying goes "there is no smoke without fire"
  6. Am in hospitality at VP. Was told by very good itk that Bent is not injured and has had bust up. :-(

  9. 88% NO is pretty damning. Has there ever been a lower approval rating? I don't think even O'Leary was rated so poorly
  10. I have four season tickets for the family and with a very sad heart will not renewing next year if things don't improve. Irrespective of how much Randy Lerner has invested I think he has gone from an owner who respected the fans to one who has basically stuck up two fingers to us!
  11. Needs to be a bit of commonsense here. As much as I am dissatisfied with Lerner, there is now way he worse than ellis! That said, he is taking us down a similar road and many of his comments are reminiscent of ellis.
  12. What? They're all to blame - the owner, the players and the manager. I don't really see how this is entirely one party's fault. Lerner employed AM. From that point on we were f****d.
  13. Had the misfortune of sitting with the Spurs fans tonight and endured one of the most humiliating 92 minutes of my time following AVFC. Could have easily been 6-0. Spurs couldn't believe how bad we were/are and many were saying we deserve to go down. Taking my claret and blue specs off I couldn't disagree- we were abysmal and there is absolutely no light at the end of the tunnel! Whilst AM is clearly lacking as a Manager, only Lerner is too blame for this pitiful state of play IMHO
  14. Well he point I was trying to make through rather too subtle sarcasm was that this perfect chairman doesn't exist. The local boy, the fan, the multi billionaire who always gets it right. OK, if you say so. :winkold: You on a wind up John?
  15. It's very feasible imo. Before Randy Lerner bought AVFC, Arabs were very interested but I cant remember if it was Kuwaiti's or Qatari's. The rumours linking them with Blackburn really doesn't sound feasible. Would the country holding the 2022 World Cup want to own one of the smallest Premier League Clubs? Villa's historic pedigree in terms of past honours and being league founders would undoubtedly satisfy the ego of the Arabs. Whether we agree or not with being the plaything on an even bigger Billionaire, there is little doubt that Villa could be massive again with Arab money.
  16. Actually your both wrong! He's the one balancing the ball on his nose over by the dodgems! According to Randy he's an ideas man and always has "balls in the air"
  17. Just been reading an article via online Times regarding unusual excuses made by people misbehaving that made me nearly piss myself laughing!!! " But the gold cup for most unlikely defence must go to Sunday Moyo, a 28-year-old man from Zimbabwe. When he was arrested recently for allegedly having sex with a donkey tied to a tree, Mr Moyo explained that the donkey was actually a prostitute who had changed herself into asinine form while they were having sex. When caught with the donkey in Zvishavane, about 200 miles south of the capital Harare, Mr Moyo said he’d paid $20 to a prostitute in a bar and was surprised by the turn of events their sexual encounter took.He has been charged with bestiality and is being held in custody. The preliminary hearing, however, hosted one of the most unusual lines to be delivered in court. Mr Moyo told the judge: “I do not know what happened when I left the bar, but I am seriously in love with the donkey.”
  18. Given our current predicament I can understand why this thread keeps drifting towards McLeish but like many Villa managers in the past he really is incidental to the current situation. I don't think he is capable of taking us further with or without investment. Where Mr.Lerner is physically and strategically on Aston Villa is the real issue. I met a senior Villa executive on Saturday and said that like many I felt Mr.Lerner needs to speak us about his vision for the future. His response was that he had done just that through his letter to season ticket holders. I responded that the letter in my opinion told us nothing. My opinion is that Randy Lerner would sell if given half the chance and also imo realises that he gambled and failed.
  19. And if anyone thinks that a change of ownership at this time will benefit Aston Villa they are, quite frankly, gullible. :winkold: Why wouldn't a change of ownership benefit us? Isn't it reasonable to assume that IF there are interested parties that they would be prepared to invest?
  20. So using your logic we are shit but have no right to complain? We might as well have kept Ellis using your attitude
