  1. General If it is houllier and KM I will happy but I think you may want to get your tin happy :-)
  2. Houllier director of football, Moyes as manager, I would wet my pants. Just cannot see Moyes accepting a DoF or going back on his earlier statement
  3. I don't knoW if this article from the Telegraph has been linked before http://tiny.cc/jdqmm But IMHO it sounds like this could be what's about to happen Houllier and KM.... How would I get a bet on this?
  4. IF this is true i reckon Houllier is about to be made DoF with KM as 1st team coach ..... Would not surprise me one iota. Graham Taylor's article the other day now looks like a set up and I bet he was one of RL & PF's expert advisors
  5. I have totally the opposite view. Sounds like he is pitching himself for a DoF job and is embarassing. I really now hope KM gets the job and makes everyone eat their words.
  6. I have an inkling about Hughes, if he tells Fulham he wants it who knows. Not inconceivable.
  7. Tell you what I'll stamp my feet for you and throw my toys out the pram - it's as much "information" as the other 5000+ posts on this thread.
  8. Clicky Apart from MacDonald it doesn't actually mention who else is on this five man short list and actually goes on to mention 6 other managers Hughes, Jol, Mcleish, Allardyce, Moyes and Southgate. I'd suggest whoever wrote that article knows about as much as we do. Which is **** all. FFS this is a thread about our new manager and the article relates to that. Some right grumpy people tonight!
  9. In what way was it detailed?.....Just the interview? Everything else that was said we already knew. Sorry didn't realize you knew that there is a five man shortlist - you should have told us!
  10. According to a seemingly well informed article published at 20.30 on the Guardian website, Villa have a shortlist of 5 headed by KM. Apparrently RL & PF were interviewing a candidate yesterday so it is very feasible that RL's trip abroad is to do an interview. The article is quite detailed so they definitely have an inside track - check out and tell me what you think?
  11. Bicks Agreed but I think you are being very generous with the £40 average. In reality as more kids would attend it's probably more likely below £30 or the grand sum of £150k per match.
  12. It's a pity the board can't communicate more frequently and officially with the fans instead of our having to get stuff 2nd hand from people who would appear to be ITK From my perspective the club is becoming increasingly elitist with those in the Chairmans executive area having access to an inside track and the rest being the fodder who are fed titbits to keep them happy by the General who is also not adverse to having the occasionally self righteous pop when ticket sales are poor. Whilst i am sure the process described by GaztonVilla is accurate it's a pity that is only imparted on the QT to the favoured few. I suppose it cheaper than employing communications professionals Rant over! But I am yet to be convinced that the powers that be know how to run a football club and keep the fans onside.
  13. Strange isn't it? The players and many fans are completely at odds. Clearly the players want KM, they talk about their respect for him, his coaching ability, footballing sense etc etc whereas, the (majority of (?)) fans live in dread of his appointment. They obviously see him from a very different angle. I don't for one minute believe it's because they want an easy ride - if we believe Collins, Young etc are competitive players who want to progress, why would they advocate KM if he is as bad as the fans claim?
  14. Whatever the managerial situation, it really is quite staggering that we couldn't bring in anyone but Ireland! You really get the impression that things are in a mess behind the scenes The statement on Sunday about any new manager justified its lateness by claiming they didn't want to unsettle the players - did they not think that a wall of silence was just as unsettling. KM will inevitably get the blame rather than RL & PF despite KM putting in a list of possible players. I wouldn't now be surprised if the board appoint KM and he becomes a convenient scapegoat if it all goes pear shaped. Whatever happens over this season, imho this interlude must raise the question whether we also need more football expertise on the board.
  15. lets assume, that we cannot get Moyes, Hughes or Jol. IF not KM who would you take? It's strikes me that some people would be happy with anyone but KM. Name names as your alternative, so we can have a sniff at them
  16. Think about it. IF the club statement was unambiguous i.e. PL experience is a must. WHY would KM then come out and say he now wants the job? Nothing makes sense
  17. What evidence do you have of this mate? How do you know that MON didn't want Ireland? Good mates with Martins nephew. He doesn't know much else. I told people this on the day, but was dismissed. Now people continue to miss the obvious in front of them and have justified the signing of ireland without a moments honest thought. Thinking about it, this would make sense. MON may have accepted Milner's departure but wanted a cash deal so that he could bring players in of his choice - OT I know but interesting all the same
  18. I'm afraid, that should Kevin MacDonald be appointed, this will be a similar view to mine, I think. A view, a few days ago, I didn't think I'd be having. I am not saying that you personally took this position but I find it ironic that when a relatively small number of us were questioning the boards ability to manage the club and their knowledge of "football" we were told criticised - it will be interesting to hear those same critics views if KM is appointed.
  19. General I disagree with all his detractors. I would prefer KM to any of the usual suspects such as Sven, Curbishley and Allardyce unless you pull off a master stroke and can land Jol or Moyes.
  20. Yes because everything is that simple. Forget the whole think before you act, it's irrelevant. :notsure: You don't just take the managerial job because it's Aston Villa ffs. Of course you do!! Aston Villa FC are 'supposed' to be one of the biggest clubs in the world. Despite the obviois financial restraints, it still amazes me that many more managers haven't thrown their hat in the ring to manage such a big club. For me, much as I like KM, he just doesnt come accross as passionate enough. To dither around deciding if it is the 'right move' for him after being at the club for the last 16 years shocks me. He has sat in the shadows so to speak watching, and probably disagreeing with previous managers tactics, transfers and training and MUST have thought, 'I could do better, I would LOVE to have a go at that job'.. Shame he doesnt show it in his interviews.. Has it ever crossed your or any of Kevin's other detractors minds that the reason he is supposedly dithering is that the last three weeks must have been crazy on the football side? Villa not only lost a manger but the 1st team coaching staff. The side that went out against Newcastle was MON's with the exception of Ireland and I still maintain that had Carew scored that penalty we could have got a result. The collapse was inexplicable and but I really think had we got a draw or a much less embarrassing defeat that far more fans would be backing MacDonald rather than be willing to accept the likes of Sven, Curbishley etc I think people have to be careful what they wish for. If its not going to Jol or someone of similar stature I would give KM a year withe the support of DoF. Mods can we have a poll please? What would you prefer? KM KM with an experienced DoF An experience PL manager such as Southgate, Curbishley, Allardyce etc Sven A high profile continental manager such as Jol?
  21. Well lets hope not. He got is completely wrong against Rapid, he got it completely wrong against Newcastle, and he got his original team selection for Everton wrong - had Ireland started they would have been even more dominent through our middle. We needed a change during the Everton game, something the stregthen us up. He stood there and did nothing. 'Do or die' or 'lucky that Everton had Jermain Beckford up front'? Appoint KM and not only will we be looking for a new manager again come May, but we'll have a struggling season and it'll show all the bollocks about the club still having ambitions , that they want to appoint a top manaager, one with experience of management, was complete and utter bollocks servered only to try to keep fans happy until the end of the transfer window. Appoint KM, anr Randy will have let down the fans and the club. Who would you consider to be a "top manager" then? I dont want someone who has "experience" but is useless. I repeat if we could get someone of Jol's stature I would be happy - but what if it was Sven, Southgate, Curbishley or Allardyce - NO THANK YOU!!
  22. OK, I know very few will agree with me but I would give it to Kev Mac and bring in a Director of Football. If we could get someone like Jol I would be happier, but I definitely would not give it to Sven, Curbishley, Southgate, Allardyce and all those other losers and has-beens As I said on Sunday, I was told by someone who would definitely know, that the job was Kevin's if he wanted it. So the statement yesterday threw the cat among the pigeons setting PL experience as a base criteria. I still think he may get it. If he does, he will need the backing of the fans not all the vitriol that I have heard spouted recently. He was on a hiding to nothing when he took over as caretaker and was let down badly by the players against Rapid and Newcastle. Their do or die performance on Sunday was for him.
  23. General If your rationale concerning not signing "someone who has bailed from their club" was applied to players the mercenary business that is Premiership Football would grind to a halt. I agree with your sentiments but feel in a "dog eat dog" world we have to sign the best manager possible and that results in one of our competitors losing out - all the better!
  24. Keith Harris runs Seymour Pierce, the investment bank. He was in the Villa deal and others in the past including a previoustakeover of Man City. He wasn't reaponsible for getting MON involved and although he knows people I don't think he would be used to identify a new manager. U
