Funny how scores seem a lot lower in the Worlds pre-matches than in the NBA. Anyone care to explain?

So far the best reason I've heard, that we could win.

The way VAR was used in Womens Worlds would kill all joy from football, and I was ready to come here and moan and moan. But it has not done it in the PL. It is used faster and in a limited role. That is good.

We didn't need a striker who can't score and who's trick is to hold the ball up and make others better. We already have Davis.

Good post brummybloke. I get this, and I agree with you that longer term we'd hope Guilbert is good enough to do what you say. However, it very much seems like Dean thinks he's not the answer currently. If he was, he'd play. I think we have more problems elsewhere than full backs though. I think people would want to change full backs because they wanted the other guys to start in the first place. And now that we have lost two, it's natural to want to change this to the way people wanted all along.

People are putting Elmo and Taylor together as not being able to get forward. That is just completely wrong. Elmo is different from Taylor. And there's absolutely no evidence that Guilbert was better at attacking than Elmo. Pre-season against Barnsley/Wallsall is not evidence. Against Leipzig he was lively, but showed his defiances aswell.

I'm a big fan of Heaton, but there is some truth in this. His mistake came at a terrible point where we needed confidence from one of our most experienced players. Being ok thereafter doesn't make up for it.

I don't know about his injury history, but he doesn't look like someone who gets major injuries. The way he moves is economical, he could be very durable. That would be an additional bonus for us.

Yeah, I agree SGC. I like Ezri a lot, but without an injury to Mings or Engels he'll not be getting a lot of game time.
