I don't know, it's a matter faith at this point to think he'll come good. But with the options we have, Kodjia and Davis, Wes HAS TO preform or we'll be in big trouble.
I think you raise a good point, and in a good way too. Engels was class, but he can still improve. He gave Kane too much room a few times, most notably at the very end of the first half. But anyway, a very good debut that bodes well for the future.
If you read through the thread, most think subbing Trez for Jota was a mistake, in hindside of course. Jota was just completely out of his depth. Same for Kodjia.
I don't agree that Wes and Trez were necessarily a must to take off, but who knows.
I was over the moon at half-time. Leading and not overly outplayed.
Second half was a nightmare. Under pressure on our own half all the time. Totally hammered, and then the compulsory melt-down in the end.
Don't know what to think of this performance going forward. Probably best not to think anything and see again next week.
Our players are 10 million players, theirs are 40 million players, and it showed. We need to release the ball quicker, good thing is now everybody believes and accepts that.
