  1. I like him.Has good pace, plays the simple ball, closes down well, starting to be a key player. The problems are in front of him.Gabby, Holman, N'Zog, Albrighton, Ireland, haven't been creative enough. One or two of them need to step up.Keep playing KEA and Delph together.
  2. He's the only player we have in the 1st team squad who can beat players , we NEED him to be a success, or buy a replacement.I would prefer the former.
  3. I'll stick my neck out here.He is a better player at 19, than Cahill was, and he will be an England International. Never been over convinced about Clark, but i am about Baker.Nice lad as well apparently.
  4. We've swapped the Dutch C/H for the Welsh C/H.Not a bad deal in my eyes. Collins was a committed defender, who was prone to lunge in, and either give silly free kicks away or get caught out of position,Would have preferred Dunne to go, but want both to go along with Warnock and Hutton. Would be delighted if Douglas comes in tbh.
  5. I agree 8pints......i think Herd's long term position is as aq centre half. I really rate Baker though.
  6. Capoue and Sissokho.Double signing as our big signing. Carroll is far too expensive, and i believe too immobile for the way Lambert wants to play.Apart from Bent, i' m not sure about the rest of the fowards. For me it is make or break season for Gabby.Steady improvement under MON, 2 shit seasons under 2 different managers since, and signs of a bed attitude.Weimann looks lively, but lacks pace, Fonz is hard to judge, might be a step too far.I think Rodrigues, who has gone to Southampton would have been a very good buy, but we probably need a 25/26 striker from abroad, a la Cisse.
  7. Whenever i saw him, i always thought he was one of our better players.Ure away, Nooocastle at home, Fulham at home.Nice pass on him, a bit too clever for some of the players around him sometimes.Alongside a Capoue kind of player would be very good imho.
  8. I might be tempted to let Given go, if we can get the Chelsea/Ath Madrid goalie on loan for a season, and see how Siegriest develops.
  9. Disappointed, but not surprised. He has ambition to be a manager, and good luck to him.17 years of success at youth/reserve level entitle him to the view that he has deserved a chance at the big time, and it has, good luck and thanks Kevin.
  10. Thinking about it , swap Delf and BB for him. Not sure either will be top quality, think Rodriguez could be.
  11. This kid is going to be a very good striker.Quick, good feet, cool finisher. Granted at 21 can go either way, but for me we should be buying youngsters who might be top quality, some you win with, some you lose.Delf was up there on loan a couple of seasons ago, maybe use him as a part exchange, and i'll think we will get the better deal.
  12. Don't be too downhearted Wiz.When Ron Saunders went in 81/82, i worried,........we went on to become European Cup Winners. When Yorkie left, i worried.........and then we signed Paul Merson. Good Luck to Norwich, good supporters, proper supporters, good club, and the fact you are so gutted gives me more confidence in the appointment.
  13. Have to say having watched Rhodes and Rodriguez at Burnley, for me Rodriguez is the one i would go for. Obviously PL will have his own thoughts/targets, but i hope we go for young up and coming stars, and not players who are coming for a final pay day.So no to Holt for me.
  14. Would'nt play well with Bent imho.Bent needs a Beardsley kind of player, or a Robbie Keane. But we have spent 2 years reducing the wage bill, clearing the older players on high wages, signing a Keane or a Holt, for me would'nt fit in with the new framework.
  15. Have to say Trees, that CI is right. You was'nt the only poster who reported the OGS interest.Somebody told me about he was told about the interest on Thurs, so don't beat yourself too much over it. Have to say your contribution was fantastically entertaining, and would'nt have OGS, and the consequences of coming, happened anyway?
  16. Ralise theres too many players who are too comfortable at VP.Get some competition in, put the likes of Gabby under pressure, sell Warnock, Dunne and Collins asap, Hutton as well if necc, let Heskey and CC go, and buy some young, hungry, competative, driven , ambitious players. The next manager could save the club a fortune if he can develop some of the youngsters.ALL have shown signs of good ability, although some have lapsed. We are not far off a good footballing team.Bent, Ireland, N'Zog are top 6 players, we need to build around them. If we have the money, and i see no reason not, a good LB, CH, Defensive CM, winger. Also if Gabby goes, at least 1 striker.
  17. I think he is a nice bloke, i'm a nice bloke, theres nothing wrong with being a nice bloke, but it does'nt mean your a competant manager. I changed my view about McL about 3 weeks ago, too many occassions we were out thought, and out fought in the 2nd half of games, against teams who should'nt, Bburn/Bolton/Sunderland.Thats when i realised he was incompetant.
  18. Not as bad as some of you on here think.Certainly a better FB than Warnock, and probably better than Cuellar on here as well. Supposed Villa fans who keep going on about his horror tackle against Long get up my nose to be frank.Would'nt have even earned a comment 10 years ago, and i've seen Villa legends like Evans McNaught et al, do far far worse, Eammon Deacy used to do worse in the warm up.Long played 4 weeks later, so it could'nt have been that bad. The kid might be a prick off the pitch, but on the pitch he deserves a break. Some blinkered Villa fans need to get over his association with McL.We missed him yday, and at the moment he is the best RB at the club.
  19. Don't remember Hutton, for all his mistakes, giving many goals away, or Collins, or carlos on such a regular occurence as Dunne does, plus he is on high wages, plus he is a bad apple, plus he is 32?......for me time to get rid, sorry.
  20. His mistake happened because, as in the Nooocastle game he has slowed down, and not able to get there as quick as he could. He is a diminishing return, and quite frankly he has a mistake in him every game. Should be got rid of.
  21. I had this same arguement with a Spuds fan about 10 years ago.We finally agreed after an hour that Spuds ACTED bigger than Villa and could attracgt more income. On fan base, history, cups, international players, stadium, longevity, we were the bigger team.Up until about 3 years ago they could'nt beat us.I like Spuds, but how the mighty have fallen when we look up to Spuds.
  22. I get more worked up/emotional about Villa, but i do like the whole "shared experience" of supporting England with everyone else.Probably about equal i would say.
  23. I know hes not the right manager, and he has'nt done a good job, and he will probably go and cost us another fortune, but i do feel that McL is a genuinely nice bloke, and does'nt deserve the level of personal abuse he is getting. Still want him gone though.
  24. The Valencia manager is leaving in the summer.....they play good football, and he seems tactically astute.I think we need a change of direction, we need to make an appointment of a manager who is good at developing young players, a la Athletic Bilbao manager. Not that we'd get him. Otherwise i would go for an ex-big name player, who might attract players, a Keane, Laudrup, Zola, Di Canio kind of appointment.
