Ralise theres too many players who are too comfortable at VP.Get some competition in, put the likes of Gabby under pressure, sell Warnock, Dunne and Collins asap, Hutton as well if necc, let Heskey and CC go, and buy some young, hungry, competative, driven , ambitious players. The next manager could save the club a fortune if he can develop some of the youngsters.ALL have shown signs of good ability, although some have lapsed.We are not far off a good footballing team.Bent, Ireland, N'Zog are top 6 players, we need to build around them. If we have the money, and i see no reason not, a good LB, CH, Defensive CM, winger.Also if Gabby goes, at least 1 striker.

I think he is a nice bloke, i'm a nice bloke, theres nothing wrong with being a nice bloke, but it does'nt mean your a competant manager. I changed my view about McL about 3 weeks ago, too many occassions we were out thought, and out fought in the 2nd half of games, against teams who should'nt, Bburn/Bolton/Sunderland.Thats when i realised he was incompetant.

Not as bad as some of you on here think.Certainly a better FB than Warnock, and probably better than Cuellar on here as well. Supposed Villa fans who keep going on about his horror tackle against Long get up my nose to be frank.Would'nt have even earned a comment 10 years ago, and i've seen Villa legends like Evans McNaught et al, do far far worse, Eammon Deacy used to do worse in the warm up.Long played 4 weeks later, so it could'nt have been that bad. The kid might be a prick off the pitch, but on the pitch he deserves a break.Some blinkered Villa fans need to get over his association with McL.We missed him yday, and at the moment he is the best RB at the club.

Don't remember Hutton, for all his mistakes, giving many goals away, or Collins, or carlos on such a regular occurence as Dunne does, plus he is on high wages, plus he is a bad apple, plus he is 32?......for me time to get rid, sorry.

His mistake happened because, as in the Nooocastle game he has slowed down, and not able to get there as quick as he could.He is a diminishing return, and quite frankly he has a mistake in him every game. Should be got rid of.

I had this same arguement with a Spuds fan about 10 years ago.We finally agreed after an hour that Spuds ACTED bigger than Villa and could attracgt more income. On fan base, history, cups, international players, stadium, longevity, we were the bigger team.Up until about 3 years ago they could'nt beat us.I like Spuds, but how the mighty have fallen when we look up to Spuds.

I get more worked up/emotional about Villa, but i do like the whole "shared experience" of supporting England with everyone else.Probably about equal i would say.

I know hes not the right manager, and he has'nt done a good job, and he will probably go and cost us another fortune, but i do feel that McL is a genuinely nice bloke, and does'nt deserve the level of personal abuse he is getting. Still want him gone though.

The Valencia manager is leaving in the summer.....they play good football, and he seems tactically astute.I think we need a change of direction, we need to make an appointment of a manager who is good at developing young players, a la Athletic Bilbao manager.Not that we'd get him. Otherwise i would go for an ex-big name player, who might attract players, a Keane, Laudrup, Zola, Di Canio kind of appointment.

Can go with my blessing tbh. Could/Should have been Englands CF...........not the brains or aptitude to be Villas main striker.

Nice pass, too weak, too slow.Needs to watch Scholes and learn. Personally would either sell him, or let him go on loan.Not sure he has the appetite to be a good player.Compare to Carruthers attitude when he came on.. Was'nt Bannans worse game, but not sure he can play much better.

Both Baker and Clark use the ball well.Mcl has'nt taken that out of their game.Villas lack of football comes from the more experienced players.Baker, GG, Clark, Eric, Weimann, Bannan, and Herd, ALL try to play football, its the Collins, Warnocks, Gabbys of this world who sometimes lack the basics.

Still young for a CH.

Looks a better prospect for me than Clark.In fact i think him and Clark could be a good partnership in years to come. He's quick, especially on the turn, which is why i like him.Only 19, will fill out, and get better.Looks a very good prospect to me.

The same Baker who took the ball off Torres every time? The same Baker who aleays tried to play the ball out to a Villa player? The same Baker who always headed the ball out trying to maintain possession? I was impressed with Baker today.I like the way he always tried to play the ball out, always tried to maintain posession, and has a bit of pace about him as well. How was he at fault for the 2nd and 3rd?Never won the ball at the near post, and Given should have done better as well. Overall, did'nt expect much today, pleased with Baker, Eric, Weimann and GG.Bannan was ok, Herd off the pace for me.

Petrov is a lazy player.You watch him off the ball.Does'nt track his man, does'nt offer himself to receive the ball, does'nt support the attack, does'nt cover the defence.He is ok on the baqll, but is'nt a good passer, and is'nt mobile or energetic enough to be in a Prem team.When we replace him we will be a much better player.I would play GG in place of him, a young,hungry,competative player.Get Petrov , Heskey, Dunne etc out asap.

For all his supposed defensive frailties, i don't remember him giving too many goals away, or even chances tbh.Made a great defensive header 5 mins to go yday, and was probably MOM behind Ireland imho. For £3m he looks a good signing, and for all those Villa fans who have been influenced by the pathetic press about his legitimate tackle on Long, get over it, after all the tackles the Olbiyon have inflicted on our players over the years they deserved that, and much more.

I notice the LYoung fan club has gone quiet since he was ripped a new a@@@@@@e by N'Zog. Hutton is limited, but his pace is handy.Apart from last week, i can't think of many goals that i would blame him for.Dunne and Warnock, now thats another question.

Is it me,or do Keane and Ireland not get on? A few times in all 3 matches, Keane seems reluctant to pass an easy pass on to Ireland.

It was a great last ditch tackle.Shaun Teale would'nt last 10 mins in todays game.

People keep banging on about Hutton, but it was Dunne who was responsible for the first 2 goals yday. A seasoned , experienced International shoul defend a lot better than Dunne did/does.Too many times he gives cheap penalties away. Dunne cost £5m, Collins£5m, Warnock £8m, and Cuellar £8m.Hutton cost £3m....about his worth, and he gets slagged off all the time. Oh and LYoung was incredibly overrated.No pace, not particularly good going foward, or defending, too old, we done well to get as good a price as we did for him.Won't be in the QPR team come Summer. Leave Hutton alone, we're stuck with him, and only a vast investment by either Randy or new owners will see him replaced, so get used to it.

Theres always a mistake in our defence atm, even Dunne makes a balls up every game, and hes our best defender atm. Their 2nd goal came from Collins playing an unnecessary pass back, a bad kick out, Cuellar getting caught for pace, and then 3 defenders standing around whilst Routledge put the ball in the net. I'd start again with the defence tbh.

If we are being honest though pacb, he was never going to be a success was he? It seems to me too many of our supporters are not willing to give him a chance because of where he came from, and consequently want us to lose another £5m to get rid off him. You can't ignore the fact that the negativity around the club has not helped the team on match days, that the lack of reluctance to get on the teams back is not conducive to free flowing football. McL will get the sack, probably this time next year, and we will have to pay out another £3/4m in compensation.Personally i would rather go out and use the clubs money to buy better players.....starting with a LB.

I not sure either of us can call ANY Prem manager tactically naive.Some i like, some i don't, but Villa today played the same tactics/formation as they did on sat, and the same formation as Swansea, so how is McL inferior to Rodgers?........hes not, but Swansea never give us a sniff, we gave them both goals.You can blame McL if you like, but i'm not sure it was his fault today.

What kind of tactical genius are you then. The game plan was to play Ireland off Bent, with Gabby and N'Zog playing wide with 2 holding midfielders.The EXACT tactics if you like that Swansea deployed. What killed us today was giving such an early goal away.The spark went out the players, the crowd, then impatience set in, then instead of the better players wanting the ball, and trying things, they become too conservative, hence no supply for Bent. Listen i've yet to be convinced by McL, but i won't judge him until he gets his own players in.
