  1. Please quit people from slagging Lambert off over his tactics. The guy played for Borussia Dortmund & had Hitzfeld as a mentor. He has his coaching badges & knows more about tactics than the majority of posters on VT (myself included) could put on the back of a postage stamp. He also played under MON too & has adopted his playing style at times when necessary. I watched Norwich play like Brazil when they gained promotion to the Premier League under Lambert & there is no way that you become a bad manager over night. Far from being tactically inept I think you'll find he is actually tactically very astute. How else then did we beat the top teams this season like Man City, Chelsea & Arsenal? The problem that we have had is that we didn't invest in a number 10. Lambert did try to sign Hoolahan but McNasty was having none of it. Also, given our pure bad luck with injuries, chances are that Hoolahan would have ended up being crocked anyway on his Villa debut had we signed him. Lambert knows what he is doing & I back his judgement entirely. Before you all choke on your cornflakes in responding to this post can I just please make one simple request that you show us all your coaching badges first.
  2. Bony is gonna score isn't he? I would get Nathan Baker to start scrapping with him in the first 5 seconds so that they both get sent off together & we can then somehow try & hold out for a 0-0
  3. Drink a lot more Vodka - That should do the tonic.
  4. Wouldn't it be ironic if a new regime appointed MON. Now that would be something.
  5. yeah get warrior in... or get a deal like the baggies, stoke etc where we pay adidas to make our kits, but at least the fans get the 3 stripes on their arm rather than the macron men... or give the shirt to whoever pays us the most, if macron are daft enough to give us £8m a year to make our shirts then so be it 8m in a year. £50 a shirt and it falls apart? Shirts are about the fans, bought by the fans. The club getting £8m a year is good but fans forking out £50 for a very badly made 'shirt' is wrong IMO. I've had all four kits, and none have fell apart. It's been said on here before, but you just need to wash them properly. small heath alliance fans have two problems with their kits. 1. They can't was them properly because they themselves are the great unwashed. 2. The shirts, just like their club they have been falling apart at the seems for centuries
  6. When Randy bought Villa the old regime died on it's arse. Ellis & DOL were immediately kicked into touch. ( I'm still celebrating.) Therefore, chances are that any new regime would want to bring in their own people too. In such circumstances I would be sorry to lose both Randy & Lambo as I believe they have both been harshly treated by many Villa supporters whose memory seems to be as short as their eye sight is myopic. Randy put his money where his mouth was when he first rode into town & he certainly gave MON every opportunity to succeed. In my opinion MON did succeed & would probably have progressed our club further had he stuck around. I know some fans won't agree with that deduction but that's their prerogative & ultimately we will never know now either way. Randy was also correct in facing head on the financial melt down whereby our business plan of spending 102% of our turnover was unsustainable. That folks is reality. As for Lambert, even Randy acknowledges what a fabulous job he has done given his remit & the parameters he has had to work in. Just my opinion ofcourse.
  7. Outside of the `Chosen few` I want Villa to be the most hated club in world football for having the most obscene amounts of cash & filthy rich owners. It's about time we had some luck.
  8. I just want the richest owners on earth that make Man City's owners look like paupers so that we can reclaim our rightful position as the world's greatest football club..
  9. Pretty much what I'd expect. Thanks Villain from Texas. While this would be fine, I want us to spend, I want Ellison. I dont mind Ellison but I dont want Ellis's son.
  10. He had a stinker against Southampton but I will forgive him. He has had a stop start season & every time he get's up to top speed he somehow get's a niggly injury like when he hurdled the bloody advertising boards at Anfield when he was absolutely on fire & murderin' Liverpools defence. We should have been 5-0 up before half time & I'm convinced we would have won had Gabby not gone off injured when he did.
  11. It got missed a few pages back but I posted a link to a new Guardian article, stating that Lambert has been told to prepare to work under new ownership. Maybe he isn't as gone as many think he is. Please see edit. (Typo error) I would not sack Lambert. No Way! No, I was letting you know that maybe he won't be going in which case you'll be happy. Personally I'm not sure but if new owners were to come in, I feel that it would make sense to at least let him try, players that he has signed for 'better' sums of money (aka £3m+) seemed to have been positive. Vlaar, Okore, Benteke and Kozak are all signings that I am happy with. I also think that bringing in a new manager and backing him to overhaul the squad yet again with a whole bunch of fresh faces could turn out badly, especially if the potential new owner does not really know who he should be bringing in. Agreed.

  13. I care. I still think Lambert is the right man. He has definitely fulfilled his remit to date & it's just a question of getting over the line now so that we can kick on. He has been desperately unlucky with injuries to key personnel & his most expensive investments. He is brave as a lion & isn't frightened to throw players in at the deep end where other managers would shrink. He will definitely prove his value at some point in the future. Whether that is at Villa Park or not remains to be seen but I for one would definitely not pull the trigger on him.
  14. Still got the blues - Gary Moore One of the greatest songs ever written.
  15. Had to laugh at the Southampton fans yesterday singing the following to us: "You used to be shit & now you are worse!" Funny or what? Make your own mind up.
  16. If & when we get new owners at Aston Villa I hope they continue the wonderful work with Acorns.
  17. I wouldn't care if our goal difference was minus one hundred if we finished 17th.
  18. Didn't you know Carol Vorderman was a Villa fan?
  19. Well done John for motivating yourself to write a report on this absolute dross. Southampton bossed the game from start to finish & Villa old boy Steve Davis should have fired them in front in the first half even if it was a good save by Guzan. Left back Luke Shaw bombed forward effortlessly for the Saints too in the first half & both Bacuna & El Ahmadi failed to get near him at times & again we were lucky that Ricky Lambert failed to score from his dangerous & inviting supply. We had a good 30 second period just before half time & earlier Agbonlahor frustratingly over ran the ball when clean through & should have done better. Weimann ran around like a headless chicken & Gabby, apart from that run, was totally anonymous. Our attacking potency is totally powder puff at the moment & only Albrighton's persistence down the right supplied any ammunition for our shot shy attack & it also stopped Luke Shaw's attacking flair & adventure in the second half other than the time he waltzed through our static defence & slipped in Lallana who fortunately for us couldn't sort his feet out. On the positive side Vlaar was imperious at the back & held it all together & Westwood moved the ball sweetly & swiftly in midfield & gave another of his under the radar performances. It's a pity he is so light weight because with a bit more timber he could really impose himself more defensively in games. All things considered 0-0 was probably as much as we could hope for & given the absence of Benteke I would happily take another four 0-0 bore draws between now & the end of the season.
  20. Yes. I would ring their Chairman now & just say your 11 stay in your half of the field & our lot will do the same.
  21. Apparently, if the stats are correct there have currently been 999 Premier League goals scored at Villa Park since the leagues inception. Hopefully it will be one of our claret & blue heroes who scores the 1000th & hopefully at the right end too. Whose your money on to score the next Premier League goal at Villa Park? Despite the fact that we don't currently look like we could score a goal in a month of Sunday's, I'll be really positive & go Gabby Agbonlahor & I hope I'm right, though I don't mind another Villa player proving me wrong.. What do you reckon VT?
  22. Just get behind the whole club! Simples!
