  1. He hasn't lost the fans. I back Lambo 100% & I am not the only poster who holds that view on VT either. The reality is he has only lost the impatient fans & not the one's who believe in the Lambert Project & see that as the bigger picture. Some fans have only turned recently out of frustration at having to stick with a long term project that has been derailed mainly due to the loss of our talisman Benteke. Get over the line & many of these fans can easily be won back again. Also, there is no shame in being wrong or frustrated because it is only due to the hurt & despair of seeing our beloved Villa languishing down amongst the dead men. Lambert has balls & I like that. As for the fans currently against him I would say "Don't Ball's It Up For The Rest Of Us!" Are you honestly still coming out with this crap? Every time I put you right, you ignore my post and 20 pages later you're still bleating on about "impatient fans" and "Project Lambert" - it's getting really, really tiresome. Everybody knows, pro-Lambert/anti Lambert, that the Villa fanbase has been extremely patient with Paul Lambert. Will you please, please. please stop typing tosh. On Saturday he lost the away fans, notoriously the "last line of defence" for a manager and everyone knows this. Yes, sure, if we went on a 20 game winning streak now then he'd win them back because all football fans are fickle but there's more chance of you shutting up about "Project Lambert" than that happening. If you love Lambert, and think he can take us forward, fine. But please stop calling our dedicated away following "impatient" as if your viewpoint is the majority. It's not. I think you'll find the last line of defence is the Chairman. Wrong again. Chairman come and go, the fans are the constant. Give it a rest. No. Some fans go & never return. Fans are fickle. I know fans that have never gone back to Villa park because of Doug Ellis. The Chairman is the last line of defence because he ultimately chooses whether a manager stays or goes. That is my point & you know I am right. Oh dear, can you seriously not see that I am talking about fans as a collective here? Not individual fans Without the fans, there would be no chairman or football club. Your attempt to tell me that certain fans do not return because of certain issues, in a perverse attempt to somehow prove a point, is laughable. Besides the point, stop cherry picking one thing I said and understand my main point: the fans have not been impatient (as you keep wrongly suggesting) and when you lose the away fans, it is very, very unlikely you will ever win them back. No. You claim that Paul Lambert has lost the fans & that they are the last line of defence. Who will sack Paul Lambert? The fans or the Chairman? Go back & re-read all my posts & you will see that I also stated that the fans who had lost their patience can just as easily be won back round again. My overall point though is that Lambert has not lost the fans only some of them.

As for the fans currently against him I would say "Don't Ball's It Up For The Rest Of Us!" 'Impatient fans' 'Project' 'Bigger picture' I thought we'd moved on from this sort of post. It's not a question of moving on, it's merely a question of acknowledging, understanding & recognising those realities. Just from your own point of view what did you actually think of his tactics at the weekend? Most people in the match thread before kick off were saying playing 5 at the back against palace and 3 in midfield would ultimately let us get over run. Which is exactly what happened. If you check that thread you ll see a large volume of people on it calling for a subscription 10-20 mins before the goal as our formation wasn't working and Palace were all over us. This is what worries me about Lambert and has become a more prevalent point as the season has progressed. These things above are blinding obvious to us and yet he can't seem to see it. Tactically as the season has progressed he has regressed. Wrong formations, slow to adapt or change. Baffling substitutions or substitutions which are to little and to late. This has little to do with money for me but far more to do with his coaching ability. The more I see of Villa lately the more I lose faith in any plan he has or even if he ever had one to begin with. Not having a pop at you & this is not personal but perfect hindsight (based on the result) is a wonderful thing. Lambert was brave against Chelsea to play 3 up top & it paid ultimate dividends. The point is the fans may have called it right on this occasion but do fans ever admit it when they get it wrong?
  6. Especially when the evidence suggests they're wrong. It's not a holier than you attitude though is it. I might be completely wrong. I am in no way a better or worse fan than either of you or any other VT poster. It is just my own considered opinion. If I was Paul Lambert I would say to all the moaners who all profess to know better, " Show us your ******* Medals!" Lambo is a great manager & I hope in time you both come round to my way of thinking. If I am wrong & you guy's prove accurate in your analysis & opinion I will be the first to acknowledge this & shake your hands. The bottom line though is don't be afraid to make mistakes & let Lambo make & learn from his. The man who never made a mistake never done anything.

  9. For those who are pro Lambert let's label them `Villa Supporters` For those who are go Lambert let's label them `Villa Supporters` Seems pretty straight forward to me. LAMBERT IN.
  10. Not really, he finished fourth in his second full season there so not very long at all. & where would Man Utd be right now if Lambert had taken over from Sour Alex Ferguson?
  11. I really hope Southampton are on the beach. Win this one & we can join them building sand castles. Deck chair anyone?
  12. Isn't that what McLeish did at Villa Park though?
  13. Tony Pulis is a great manager when you are in a dog fight & scrapping for your life. I totally respect the guy but detest his footballing philosophy. ( Before any one starts he knows a million % more about the game than I do.) More importantly, & please be honest here, would anybody like to see him as Villa manager? He plays dinosaur football that does not evolve & as we all know the dinosaurs eventually become extinct. Great for Stoke City & Crystal Palacein the short term but strictly limited as a long term project unlike Paul Lambert's.
  14. Their is no one on VT who can do a better job than Paul Lambert. No one. This is where fans become delusional. When I state this though Tro I am not having a pop at you. It's just a fact of life. Does anyone here on VT seriously believe that they can do a better job than Paul Lambert? The moment you walked into the Villa dressing room you would either be totally ignored by the players or quite simply just laughed out of town. Get real! You obviously never read my post properly I said and will re state I never was a professional football player...and that just about ends any chance of what ever I say(or any articulate fan) to be accepted as credible, even if word for word i said the same as any Football manager. I have had instances in my life where i have been very, very close to Premier league football players and I'm confident of what I'm saying. There is many aspects of running a Premier league football team and in most of them I wouldn't have a clue what is required, but when it comes to watching the game in the 90 odd minutes every week, I think I have a fair idea of what is going on and when I have put my knowledge to the test by talking through my understanding of what went on during a game with a pro i have been left confident I have read it right( bare in mind in confidence they tell it like it really is, not journalist bullshit) There are many folk that have a good understanding of the game, but without that tag of being a PRO footballer no one will listen to you.....whether you are right or not. That does not mean that a football manager can hoodwink you with you not having the confidence to disagree.....after all they have got a 1mill pound a year job to protect. Tro - I don't believe I did misread your post. As I stated it was not personal. I know you are sincere & I fully respect your opinion. In fairness to your good self you have run your thoughts by professional footballing people & that is to be admired. However, to underline my main point here once more, no ordinary football fan knows more about the game than the professional manager. They just simply don't & would have no credibility from any current professional in the professional football industry if they walked into a dressing room. Again, this is not aimed at you directly, but what do you think any Villa players attitude would be if any ordinary fan went into the changing room & tried to offer them their blue print for success & laid out the game plan for the day? Fan's merely state they could do better out of their total frustration at the club's current difficulties & that's as understandable as their true ignorance of the professional game. No offence intended to any VT poster here because ultimately we are all Villa fans & only want success.
  15. Nice conundrum Stef - I'm off site now & getting out the West Side Story DVD. (How sad is that?) If Lambo get's booted out by the Jets he can easily manage the Sharks. Lambo In - Jets Out!

  17. So sign a potentially quality player like Okore to do just that & then watch him get injured for the rest of the season. Surely fans understand this. That's why I refuse to join the clamour for Lambert out. Give the guy a proper chance please. Give the guy a chance?! Where did I have a pop at Lambert? I said we are too soft in midfield? We have a 3 man midfield yet no leaders in there. That's my point. He has to get STEEL in the team. AND take the armband off Vlaar. He's no captain. He's no way near vocal or passionate enough for this group. I want Lambert to turn it around like I wanted McLeish to prove us wrong as not only would it prove he had it, but piss the noses off at the same time. apologies Stewiek2. I wasn't having a go at you I was actually agreeing with your post. My remark about giving the guy a proper chance was intended for the genuine known anti Lambert posters here on VT. To qualify that further, I have nothing against the anti Lambert lobby because they may actually be right in how they currently view all Villa matters close to our hearts. What hurts me the most is that I do believe in the Lambert project & it is the overall majorities knee jerk reaction that I am afraid of as I believe such short sightedness could potentially send us back to square one again. I also accept that it could be me too who has got the whole thing wrong. I just hope it turns quickly so that those who have turned can be persuaded in the folly of their knee jerk reaction.
  18. No it doesn't. Benteke (our key player) came flying out the blocks at the start of the season. Got injured at Norwich. Got dog's for 12 games whilst trying to play half fit & then when he was back to full fitness he ruptures his achilles. Meantime his replacement Kozak breaks his leg & Okore hasn't even come out of the traps. Injuries have paralysed our progress & undermined Paul Lambert's true potential. Stick with it.
  19. So sign a potentially quality player like Okore to do just that & then watch him get injured for the rest of the season. Surely fans understand this. That's why I refuse to join the clamour for Lambert out. Give the guy a proper chance please.
  20. & that's the real point. Lambert needs time to seriously build & address our current deficiences & put some flesh to the bones.
  21. I hope Paul Lambert joined in with the singing. There's the guy, busting his balls all week & for the last two years trying to turn us around & the fans right on his back. We've all been on that ride & surely fans can see that he has not had a proper fair crack of the whip. If I was Paul Lambert yesterday I would have cracked our own fans with that whip to wake them up from their total obtuseness in failing to realise the bigger picture. For God sake give the guy a break. We don't need all this bloody damn negativity eating away at us because it is totally degenerative. For the Clubs sake, get behind the board, the manager & the team & scream them over the line. Embrace it, embrace it, embrace it. Aston Villa FC is the bigger picture. You have no evidence or tangibility to write all that, you are simply living off blind faith....There is nothing you can touch or feel or describe to convince anyone that what you say is credible. You cannot claim to be positive, because it could be said that removing him is more positive in evidence of what he has achieved, that is the worst home record in the history of the club, I'm not sure what you are waiting for....by your reckoning Billy McNeill would still be manager. If you are trying to rally the troops then I accept your point, because what ever the problems and believe me, I think this man deserves to go, we do need to get behind the team to get them over the line, because on their own or with the coaches prompting them they haven't a cat in hells chance. This football set up needs to be scraped....but now is not the time to do it, we do need a massive push to try and get them over the line. but then the proper business should start....Like getting someone in who can get this team to believe in itself. Tro - I like your post but it's not about blind faith. As I currently perceive it it is the fans that the club is having to battle with at the moment & it is the fans who paradoxically & potentially are derailing us. Paradoxically because we all know viscerally that they only want success for the club. Let Paul Lambert do his job & let him see it through to fruition. There is so much that Paul Lambert has had to address in his short time here & there is surely no one who can argue against his plans being scuppered & largely paralysed by terrible injuries. Why do some fans argue against this? It has handicapped him severely but do you see Lambo hiding behind it as an excuse. As Sunny has pointed out there are reasons, reasons, reasons. Therefore, please VT posters, don't be unreasonable. As for Billy McNeill - I can't say that I ever bought into his project but that's another story.
  22. Ha ha ha. You are Swiss Tony and I claim my £5 Ha ha ha! Your the one who has been swissed & Yo-del for me.
  23. Please feel free to answer the following question. Who of the following wants to see Paul Lambert sacked? Randy Lerner? Paul Faulkner? Paul Lambert? His coaching staff? The players? Especially Benteke, Kozak, Okore & all Lambo's young promising recruits? The Tea Lady? The fans? That is surely the bigger picture right now?
