  1. with respect but what a ridiculous statement. Failed at what exactly? they don't have a job, they don't have a responsibility. It's their club because of the monies they put in, the time and dedication they have following it but they don't have any duties as such so they cannot fail. Lambert on the other hand does have duties, does have deliverables and does have responsibilities and you can easily argue that he has failed at all of them It is not a statement merely a question that is open to semantics. Maybe a question to provoke reaction? Or maybe (?) a question in reaction to provocation?
  2. Cup shocks. Never heard of them before as they are only exclusive to Aston Villa aren't they? Colchester 3 Leeds Utd 0 Bournemouth 2 Man Utd 0 Wigan 1 Man City 0 etc etec etc

  4. Um, maybe because a manager should create a team that isn't just dependent on one individual performing well? Like I said Benteke's injury is just one reason. Now I'll give you reason number two. Lambert realised we had major problems in Central Defence & recruited Okore, who as you well know suffered a season long injury. So, your point about being dependent on just one individual is inadmissible. Fans not giving Lambert time or the benefit of the doubt is just sheer madness & ignorant IMO. I still maintain it's an over reaction. I'm not making excuses for Lambert but instead will offer up just one single reason to justify my view. Without labouring the point had Benteke not got injured at Carrow Road earlier in the season I honestly believe we would easily be in a much better position now. The above are your words. 'one single reason' and then you go on to say that if Benteke had not got injured at Carrow Road earlier in the season you honestly believe that we would be in a much better position now. Now you have been challenged on the 'one single reason' you offer up another reason 'Okore's injury' Make your mind up, how many reasons are there? There are many many reasons but there will never be enough for you to accept. I have no problem with that. However, reason number 3 is the totally unhealthy knee jerk & OTT reaction from the fans at Crystal Palace. How on earth is that conducive to the benefit of Paul Lambert, the team & ultimately Aston Villa FC? Why have we achieved only 1 point from the last 6 games? Is it the OTT reaction of fans or Lambert's inadequacy? Or the reasons that I have already offered up but that you conveniently choose to ignore?
  5. Have the fans ever failed at Villa?

  7. So that's Lambert masterplan rely on Benteke? No plan B? plan B is also injured. To all those slagging Lambert off how could you do any better when your major investments are unavailable for long & crucial periods of the season? Benteke, Okore, Kozak, Vlaar. Gabby. If you think you would fair better you are simply delusional. The manager is not responsible for injuries but no doubt various posters will claim that he is & still demand he be sacked. Is it any wonder why Clubs & not just Villa subsequently treat the majority of fans with contempt when it comes to making important decisions concerning their Club? Rightly or wrongly it is theses type of knee jerk reactions that lead to Managers like Big 'Eck eg being appointed. The fans get exactly what they deserve because they are too emotionally involved. If Lambert gets the old heave ho & then goes on to prove is worth elsewhere will you hold yourself responsible? The fans are wrong.

Without labouring the point had Benteke not got injured at Carrow Road earlier in the season I honestly believe we would easily be in a much better position now. Why fans can't see this & why fans are blaming Lambert is beyond me. How can anyone disagree with this observation? A fully fit Benteke, firing on all cylinders would surely have underlined our progress under Lambert. It probably won't be long now either before those exact same fans singing the praises of the beast will soon want him out of the exit door too. As I state, this is just one reason why I think many of the fans have lost it big time.
  10. Leave Lambert alone & let him finish the job he has started under which ever regime happens to rule our Club. I believe Lambert will get the best out of Guzan, Benteke, Vlaar, Okore, Kozak & Bacuna amongst others as they are his players & they will blossom & benefit further once he has further opportunity to add & introduce real proven quality to the squad he has already assembled. As other posters have stated, what is the point of replacing Lambo & reverting back to square one again? He has 2 years experience of the Club under his belt & has had to endure some really tough times & especially so with injuries. Up until recently the fans appeared to recognise & accept these handicaps & then probably out of sheer frustration a large majority of the fan base seemed to lose it completely & unfairly turn on Lambert & target him as the scapegoat. This was never a short term project or a short term fix. Many fans initially recognised & bought into this but now for whatever reason things appear to have changed. Fortunately, throughout all this Lambert has remained up beat & whilst many of the fans have gone OTT in their criticisms lately & thrown a wobbly, Lambert is the man I firmly want to be with in those trenches leading the charge. Still the right man for the job for me. No question. .
  11. In terms of technical ability I'll go the Bacuna free kick v Man City followed by Benteke's over head kick v Norwich followed by Westwood's free kick at Old Trafford. The best team goal & probably our true goal of the season was Bacuna's quality finish that rounded off a superb swift & decisive counter attack against Norwich at Villa Park. Simply magnificent.
  12. Or maybe they've got bored of repeating themselves and getting the same responses? Touché Yes, you can't educate pork. But you can tell lots of porkies. Or even be mutton. Dressed as Lamb-bert knowing you wont be getting the chop.

  14. You seem to talking down to those fans that could see what was happening. You shouldn't really judge others based on your need for undying support of Paul Lambert and lack of football knowledge. Yes. Those same fans who wanted him here in the first place. Practically all 35,000 of them. If you are the exception to this fact then I bow to your superior fore sight, intellect & wisdom & subsequently demand the six numbers right now for this weekends National Lottery. I know a lot of people that thought he was shite before he arrived and never wanted him. Certainly the 20/30 season ticket holders who frequent my local were not impressed with his appointment. I dont think it was as big a majority as you think I think because a couple of thousand away fans sang his name at Norwich and because he isn't Alex McLeish people assume that all fans wanted him here. The reality is quite probably way less. & yet the opposite argument also applies because those same away fans where then calling for his head only a few weeks ago at Palace. Can you see the double standard at work here or am I missing something? So when are fans entitled to call for his head? When we are relegated? Is there a certain period you have to accept a manager is in charge because you sang his name before he joined the club? Are 2 seasons not long enough? Ask your self this question then please. Whose judgement does it best reflect on. The Managers or the fans? You wanted him in & you now want him out. So who subsequently fills this void? Logically from the above there's no point asking the fans.

  18. You should be on stage. You are wise and have the gift. Yes Mr Pacbuddies - The same gift as every body else on this forum. Perfect Hind sight. I am cursed with foresight as I could see the sh*t coming way back in October/November. Can you recommend a good therapist? Yes. Try a guy called Paul Lambert. . Thank you. Will he be able to convince me that all is okay and that the future is bright even when I am convinced we are doomed? Who knows. I suggest you speak to his secretary & book your good self an appointment as I believe there is a waiting list of approx 35,000 at present. Joins massive queue Pity you never joined the queue before 30th April as you would have qualified for a 10% discount. Those depicted in that queue had the foresight from their on going therapy with Mr Lambert to do just that. 10% off f*ck all is not very appealing. You'll think a lot differently once you've had your initial therapy .with Mr Lambert.

  24. Mourinho, unquestionably a world class manager, would have undoubtedly become a broken man & hounded out of Villa Park by the Solomonic & wise after the event fan base with his reputation in tatters. He would have been accused of being tactically inept, totally unable to either identify or motivate players & practically every fan would claim they didn't want him here in the first place. All this despite several of his major & influential purchases being out injured all season. Once departed he would probably show up on the door step of Boing Boggies Albyun & lead them to their first ever Premier League title. Get the picture?
  25. I totally disagree. Why should the fans be above criticism? The last few weeks the majority of Villa fans have done nothing but moan & have displayed both total contempt & disrespect in equal measures to our Manager who needs it like a hole in the head. . It's a total double standard to claim that it's fine to slag off Lambert but unfair to level the same contempt to the fan base. If Lambert is not exempt then neither are the fans. If Lambert takes stick then so can the fans. If not why not? What's good for the goose is surely good enough for the gander. Also, it is not a question of loyalty or a petty accusation of being a better fan than anyone else. It is merely an observation. Simply - How is being totally negative about things at our Club, completely outside of your own sphere of influence as fans, helping to move our Club forward? Does anybody believe slagging off Paul Lambert is really helping the Club or the man himself at this moment in time? The guy is under intense pressure & you would automatically think that in his & the whole Clubs desperate hour of need the fans would instantly rally to the cause & recognise that their undivided support can ultimately provide the fine margin that can secure our Premiership survival. Surely the paradox is that you are only helping the opposition. He is on 2 million a year i'm sure he can handle it. Anyway according to you he is such a true professional, it should'nt bother him anyway??? Please either your good self or other posters just answer the main question: Does anybody believe slagging off Paul Lambert is really helping the Club or the man himself at this moment in time?
