  1. As far as Rodgers V Lambert is concerned you need to take into account what Lambert achieved & was building at Norwich to gain a more balanced judgement. Liverpool are currently playing with total confidence at the moment & have gained unbelievable momentum too. That is obviously largely attributable to Rodgers & he is doing an outstanding job. However, as a previous poster has pointed out, Rodgers is coming from a position of strength not weakness. When Randy appointed Lambert our club was haemorraging money like it was going out of fashion. The whole situation needed to be & has been seriously addressed. This obviously meant that Lambert had to cut his cloth accordingly & we are now fast approaching the point whereby the whole club can become expansive & competitive once more. In short, we & Lambert will soon be starting from a position of strength once more as opposed to weakness. I know it's been a miserable tenure to date but the Club has become stronger overall. The medicine tastes disgusting but it will serve us well in the long run.
  2. In the words of William Hague: " It's time for a common sense revolution!"
  3. The last few pages only confirm my congenital suspicions..........................Bullshit baffles! Bottom Line - Lambert In. We do potentially have a really great manager. No question. Surely, given the parameters & constraints, due to the current dictates of finance, this must be apparent to all? Anyway, as the truly great Ron Saunders would demand, I therefore unhesitatingly pledge my 110% backing to Lambo No.5 our great, great Messiah & I hope everybody else does like wise. In Lambo we trust! Long may he reign!
  4. Great news for Uncle Sam & our many followers on the other side of the pond.
  5. I agree DelboyVilla - Chelsea, Man City & teams like Man Utd, Spurs & Arsenal have some really rich pickings if we are judicious in our approach.
  6. I think we can soon start moving to phase 2 of the Lambert Project. It's all about adding quality now over quantity & starting to put some real flesh on the bones. It will still take time though to come fully to fruition & this is why fans will still need to be patient. Let's see where we are in 3 years time if the whole Club can hold our nerve & stick with it.
  7. There are only TWO colours that matter! Claret n Blue!
  8. If Harry Redknapp's judgement is any thing to go by then I would just loved to have seen Darren Bent's Granny given the nod in a claret & blue shirt.
  9. Any body got any news or updates regarding Chris? I really rate this guy & would love to have him playing along side Vlaar in Central Defence in either a back 3, 4 or 5? Especially so now, as we need players to pull their fingers out, stand up & be counted & put in some big performances to get us safely over the line. We could also do with his steel in Central Midfield too. Really wished he was available for selection.
  10. Even though "The Beast" had an absolute stinker yesterday ( which proves he's sometimes human as opposed to super human) he still managed to get into scoring positions on many occasions & could easily have grabbed 4 goals. As long as he brings his shooting boots next time up he will do just fine. The most positive thing is Benteke is still proving to be a real handful & the goals will surely follow. Witness how many times Vidic bounced off him with a simple shrug of our talisman's shoulders yesterday. He is still our key player, so watch out Premier League when he exacts his revenge. The Beast will return.
  11. We never score last minute winners do we? The last time we actually did was 2 years ago when Andi Weimann surprised us all by doing the business at the death against guess who? Yes. Fulham. Also, Fulham have conceded more late goals than any other Premiership team this season. Let's hope history & statistics do us all a big big favour next week though I'd much prefer a straight forward & comfortable 7-0 win instead of enduring all the agony until a last minute goal in our favour. Anyway - Whatever happens, please Villa, DO NOT LOSE THIS ******* GAME!
  12. Big Sam reckons 38 pts will be the magic marker in this years survival fight & he is normally a pretty shrewd judge. However, this is the time of year when teams suddenly start playing like world beaters so until we hit the magic 40 I will not relax. Cardiff & Fulham are looking nailed on as things stand, but it is the 3rd & final spot that is going to cause panic of epic proportions to all those teams currently involved. Take your pick of any 3 from the bottom 9 although most probably it will be Cardiff & Fulham plus one other from those currently placed 18th to 12th. Not just scary, but a bloody nightmare.
  13. Would like to see Christian Benteke play for the worlds No.1 Club just like he is now. In other words, I hope we keep him.
  14. Rooney has now gone 12 consecutive games at Old Trafford without scoring. Any body want to bet that game 13 will also be unlucky.....................for us. I seem to remember too that Van Persie went 11 consecutive matches without scoring last season & then hammered in a first half hat-trick against us no problem what so ever.
  15. Ha ha ha DJ_Villain. I thought for one minute too there that I was reading about Carson Yeung.
  16. As always John I immensely enjoyed reading your post match analysis but as for the actual game itself that was anything but. It was almost asymmetrical to the Norwich game. They scored within 5 minutes, then we went goal barmy on twenty minutes & practically sealed the game by scoring just before the break to run out 4-1 winners. This time around, having taken the lead, the whole team seemed to be beset with complacency & every one appeared to lose their focus & their will & desire to win. The midfield seemed totally lethargic, stood off Stoke, failed to pressurize the ball & allowed them to play at leisure. Another major problem too were the unfortunate injuries to Weimann & El Ahmadi which totally disrupted the set up of the team. I believe Lambert was originally looking to bring on Albrighton for Weimann until El Ahmadi's injury & then he had to throw Yacouba Sylla into the mix too. I also believe this explains the 4-5 minute delay in making the substitutions because apparently, frustrating & pedantically paper work has to be submitted to the 4th official first before substitutions can be allowed. However, I am totally baffled why Lambert initially played Albrighton in the middle & Sylla on the right side of midfield. Albrighton is a winger & that's where he should have been deployed & as good as Sylla is in the tackle, is positional sense & awareness in supporting Bacuna were either fragile at best or completely non existent. The one thing this game highlighted is that as far as complacency goes this team is simply not good enough at present to be able to go out & win a game with that type of attitude. To get the desired result, this team needs all hands to the pump & to be firing on maximum cylinders. We now need to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down & get straight back into the breech but with Man Utd next up that is not going to be an easy task but with this fixture being sandwiched between a fierce Manchester derby & a Champions league quarter final against Bayern Munich hopefully Utd may take their eye off the ball. A word of caution though here, Utd can easily be complacent against us & win, where as we have already demonstrated that we just simply can't. Right now, that may just prove to be the difference. Finally, just as our home win against Chelsea proved to be our best display in B6 this season, I'm pretty sure few would argue that the non performance against Stoke City is easily our worst? Keep The Faith!
  17. Lovely painting, although I guess Wimbledon-fans said the same at one point Yes. But was it at Match Point?
  18. As I said earlier, you seem to not understand that those wanting him gone didn't stop wanting him gone because of a couple of victories. & by the same argument & observation those who are 100% still behind him in what he is trying to build & achieve here( of which I am certainly one) don't stop losing sight of the project he has undertaken or want him gone because of an unfavourable result & performance. This team beat Chelsea last week (deservedly) & now have a major set back to deal with against Stoke this time around. Can Lambert deal with it & go again? The Board seem to think so & I think they are absolutely right. In Lambert we trust.
  19. Because Randy finally paid the outstanding TV license fees he just found that Doug Ellis craftily hid underneath his desk from him before finally selling up the tight fisted old miser.
  20. Don't you just ******* hate it when Villa lose . I don't know which is worse either, losing with practically the last kick of the game as at Newcastle a few weeks back or by witnessing today's totally abject & pitiless surrender against the Clay Heads of Stoke City? So now I, and & I daresay countless thousands of others of the claret & blue persuasion, suddenly have to contemplate facing the whole friggin' week again walking around like zombies & complete misery arses with our chins scraping along the ground as we seriously contemplate suicide. (I'm such a drama queen aren't I ? Or am I? ) Anyway, how can we brighten up our lives now to help us get over the initial pain, shock & trauma of what I term post match Villa loss disorder? If possible, please provide us all with the immediate & necessary therapy by submitting posts, .gifs, funny stories, suggestions or anything, yes absolutely bloody anything here, that you think might help put a smile back on our faces & cheer us all up & lift our claret & blue spirits once more until Villa finally provide the perfect tonic & antedote by doing the business & getting a bloody good result again so that I/we can all indulge in Villa euphoria. Until we go again?...............................HELP!
  21. Hopefully ( For our sakes) they'll have 11 players sent off in the Mancs derby this coming tuesday night.
  22. I know we we're all supposed to be generous on Acorns day but since when has Stoke City been a charity?
  23. Pity we didn't sign Ronnie O' Sullivan during the January transfer window as we only need 4 snookers at the moment to pull this off.
