  1. Helenius for sure, POTY in the Danish league. He looks technical and powerful with the ball, I think we could have a future star on our hands.
  2. he's just being silly with rhyming words. There's nothing there to read into it Relax It looks like Kendrick is cleverly giving us a hint where the strongest interest is from. No, Kendrick is demonstrating that there are no other teams who would fit in with a rhyme around "Luna" Errrmmm...deportivo la coruna? My god he IS off to Arsenal!
  3. But if somebody stands partially behind you on your right hand side it will look like you are wearing Helen on your back
  4. Claret and blue home kit...claret and white away kit. Thats not going to help us against West Ham now is it. Looks like the hi-vis away kit from this year still has some life left in it.
  5. All signs point to Spurs losing Gareth Bale to a top European club this summer, so I could definitely see them in for Benteke. While not a like for like switch per se, Gareth Bales is effectively a forward these days with the number of goals he pitches in. Hopefully much like Liverpool paying well over the odds for one Andy Carroll after they sold Tores for £50million, we could extract a similar fee from Spurs in the wake of the huge fee Bale will bring in. Did Carroll look any better than Benteke looks now? Similar ages too. We should be asking for well over £20million I think. If no deal could be agreed at that fee then Benteke should honour his contract with Villa, unless we are relegated then it'll be cut prices all round *sigh*

Our survival depends on beating the teams around us now. The 6 Pointers are massive.
  7. Losing a 2 goal lead against anyone is disgusting but a point away at a good team like everton is still a decent enough point. Shame we are not going to stay up the easy way if at all.
  8. Forget other teams we need to win our own games to stay up. Not the last game of the season yet it's still in our own hands.
  9. If we concede now we will lose, get Sylla on to shore up the midfield
  10. Good second half performance but nobody ever won the league with spirited second half performances; we need points and we've dropped a crucial 6.
  11. This will be a good indicator of how this team might handle the mid table championship fodder if we get relegated. This is not an attempt to get a rise out of anyone btw, Genuwinely think this will be an interesting test of the waters.
  12. I could hardly watch that to the end, painful viewing. Had all the chances in the first half but most were half chances at best, never looked totally convincing. Conceding another set piece killed us dead, no rhythm from there on out. Lamberts changes were counter productive at best and ruined any semblance of shape. Same old story.
  13. I think Liverpool are pretty avergae team tbh, but Suarez is undoubtably class. If we can keep him quiet, maintain our decent posession stats and if Benteke has his League Cup scoring boots on, I think we have a decent chance of grabbing a result. We are obviously a work in progress but I'm certain we're improving as a team and this should be a decent test to guage how far along we are.

I know its bad form to be positive but I'm going to go out on a limb and say we will beat QPR fairly comfortably. I've seen enough in Villa in the last month to believe we have actually turned the fabled corner and we are clicking as a team. Tactics look good, performances look good, we just need a run of points and the relegation scrap will be forgotten. And for all the talk of QPRs improvement against Sunderland they still didnt win against a team with an equally dire record to us, which would have given them a confidence boost to bring against us.
  15. Bit harsh mate, If I'm remembering his interview upon arrival at Villa Park correctly he had been in the Crewe youth system since age 7. Just the 15 years of loyalty before moving up to the prem!

It's too soon to judge the "dutch" contingent surely, they are still settling to the pace of the league. As for Ireland, which limit are you talking about because he was fantastic at city. Surely that is the limit for him to achieve? Maybe he can recapture that as our system beds in. I feel you may have a point with Delph though
  17. Why it's forgotten McCleish signing Enda Stevens!
  18. Observations: Ron Vlaar is huge Baker is tallest by (literally) a hair Gabby looks middle aged (thanks Macron for the baggy shirts) Guzan resembles a giant thumb
  19. If he bangs in 20 goals would you not rather have him back? 20+ goal strikers don't grow on trees even if it is the Championship.
  20. I must admit I was ready to cast Bannan, Clarke and Delph into the same 'not good enough' boat as Delfonzo after last season/the Everton game. Great to see at least two of those players have suprised me under Lambert. The jury is still out on Delph, but I still remember his debut season and live in hope.
  21. Sounds good this lad. Sign him up Paul!
  22. People shouldnt write off Given completely, he was instrumental in us staying up last season. However there is no denying he has been on crap form for a while now, but I dont buy that he is a spent force. The rise of Guzan will give Given some much needed time off to fully recover from whichever injury, fatigue or lack of confidence is causing his shocking form and then we will have 2 world class goalies to choose from, which is great: strength in depth.
  23. I for one hope he is Given more chances to Marshall our defence.
  24. Apart from all the great saves, a promising part of Guzans performance was his reaction to Ben Arfa's goal; he jumped up straight away and yelled at the defence/Holman for allowing him so much space to shoot. A sign of a vocal goalie wants to command his defence and stop goals with tactics rather than just his own hands.
