  1. I Havn't seen that brand of anti-football for many years since the heyday of Tony Pulis' Stoke. Whenever the ball was on the deck we drew a foul, blues lumped EVERYTHING long and eventually we gave up on trying to play it on the ground and started lumping it back, to zero benefit. In light of that, a point was a good result.
  2. Could help reading this in Alan Partridge voice: "Scum, sub-human scum."
  3. Even without audible booing I bet Westwood can feel this level of quite rage in his soul when he plays...
  4. He's a class act. Ran tirelessly on Saturday and looked shattered on the final whistle! He looked quite comfortable either on the wing or up top, although I think we will get the most out of him as a proper striker. He's got that goal poacher touch, like Jamie Vardy.
  5. He was solid defensively. I actually though he could be bombing forward taking players on more, as that how I seem to remember his old performances, but we cant be sure what instructions he was given by Brucey. You could see the confidence coming back to him throughout the game, I think we will see some very good performances from him soon if he is given a run.
  6. Both are beneath the mighty Aston Villa and Guardiola should be crawling over broken glass to manage here etc. etc.
  7. I think it could well be Bruce but glad the club is not stroking his ego by holding no other interviews and not looking at other candidates to find the best man. I feel like under the old regime Bruce would have been practically begged to join by now just based on a glance of the available managers, but we seem to have a bit more sense at least now to not rush anything without a proper process. The same was not true of RDM's recruitment to be fair - Dr Tony seems to think the same as he has tweeted that appointment wasrushed, I just hope they have learnt their lessons and really scrutinise the field this time despite the clamoring of the fans for an immediate appointment.
  8. This is a must win for ___________.
  9. Honestly, we would be lucky to get Steve Bruce. Aston Villa is the closest thing to career suicide going at the moment and has been for a long time . It wouldn't surprise me if Bruce bides his time for another prem league job - he interviewed for England 3 months ago and probably fancies that as his level...he's probably right. Sunderland, Stoke or West Ham will be available soon.
  10. As bad as we've been, it makes a change to finish a game well at least.
  11. Elphick is a poor defender. Jedinak is a poor midfielder. Shame these players were supposed to be the new spine of our team. I can understand why Ayew doesn't bother passing to anyone now.
  12. Let's look at the example of Leceister. Before promotion in 2014 they were average 22,000 at home. After promotion and before the title win the average attendance was already an extra 10,000 fans and a sell out; almost 50% increase. In the title winning season they of course continued to sell out the ground at 32,000. Does anyone doubt that they could happily sell out 40,000 or more now if they had the means? Many of them foreign I'd bet. Success will bring the fans.
  13. Round first rejected by Garde, now returns as tech director. We've come full circle.
  14. Haha this is fantastic. The AVFC_Religon tweet has already been deleted in shame. Might as well shut down the Villa ITK accounts now as none will have any credibility left soon.
  15. Interesting. He seems to have changed his tune from his Lescott tweet the other week: Wonder if he got to breaking point with paying others wages due to the breakdown of that deal!
  16. Pre-poured pints on the back counter. If anyone has been to a T-20 game recently you can see how quickly a beer queue can be like this.
  17. The Birmingham mail all but announced that it was going to be Steve Round.
  18. He really does look bad. Struggles to make any kind of positive contribution. Shame. edit: hits the post!
  19. Oh dear! He literally cannot stay at Villa for another year. Can you imagine playing this guy in front of a Villa crowd - it would cause a riot.
  20. First of all I love Tony but... a series question: what is Tony Xia's day job? The guy is the CEO and chairman of the RECON group, which apparently owns stakes in numerous other companies China. Doesn't this demand some of his attention? Judging by his twitter feed he has been working full-time on Aston Villa for the last 2 months now, and has obviously been based predominantly in England. I am glad he is rich enough that he can dedicate all his time to his main passion and hope it continues, but I do wonder what happens to the rest of his empire whilst he's hanging out in B6. What does the rest of his company think?!
  21. I will be very surprised if he actually leaves. My guess is he will shop around at other clubs who won't want to match his frankly ridiculous villa pay packet and suddenly another season with Villa won't look to shabby.
  22. Agree. Frank Lampard looked slightly 'overweight' his entire career and didn't do him any harm.
  23. Adama needs serious coaching if he's going to succeed here or anywhere else. He makes Daniel Sturridge look unselfish with the ball.
  24. Hope and optimism is taking hold at Villa Park...double relegation and bankruptcy are sure to follow soon! Joking aside it is amazing how the last 5 years have eroded all hope at Villa, so many false dawns it's unreal. The ultimate insult being our £50 million spending spree followed by the worst season in premier league history! It's not hard to understand why there has been so much mistrust and scrutiny of Xia from some fans. Can we dare to dream again yet?
