I think what everyone failed to totally comprehend on Tuesday, was just how poor we were 2nd half.

Utd weren't amazing or suddenly 'back at their best', we just played one of the worst half's we've had under Unai - ragged, sloppy and complacent thinking the job was done.

On another night, maybe with 2/3 of the players who were unavailable able to play, we go on and win that by 4 or 5.

As it was, they got a bit of momentum and won the game.

Even the worst teams pull out a shock win now and again and that was theirs.

United noticeably stepped up their effort levels at 0-2. Several of the sulkers for whatever reason decided to put in a shift and put us under pressure.

Combined with what was undoubtedly poor from our-side resulted in the loss.

Man Utd beating us wasn't a shock, they're capable of beating any team in the league at Old Trafford, and when you combine that with our poor record there and our poor record on Boxing Day, it wasn't a shock at all.

Framing it as a shock result is part of the problem, because it leads to people having a meltdown over the kind of result that can happen to any team, bizzarely there was a bigger meltdown over the Man Utd result than there was over the Sheff Utd result, despite the fact we were away to Man Utd a team challenging for top four, and were at home to Sheff Utd a team who so far this season have been one of the worst in Premier League history.

Villa fans were desperate for Man Utd to lose yesterday and celebrated when they did so, for a reason, because it's known they can be a threat to our top four challenge if they pick up form, and so we need the self entitled gits as far away from us points wise as possible.

They're both awful, bottom half, sides. Not arsed how many points Utd have fluked, they absolutely stink and deserve to be 14th or 15th.

We were 2-0 up at Utd as well. That's why it stings a bit more.

We played into their hands.

They are a counter attacking team by nature with fast forward players.

Teams with high lines is the perfect game for them.

We weren't good in the first half... Writing was on the wall, utd had several chances missed due to poor touches or passing

I think the shock was because we were 2-0 up inside 30 minutes. It wouldn’t have been a shock loss if were weren’t in such a comfortable position score wise against a team with lots of issues.

We've dropped points to worse teams than them, and they have or will beat better teams than us. The annoying thing was the defeat was being used to speak of us as being in bad form, we weren't in bad form, we had had one result which was the Sheffield United draw, Man Utd defeat was disappointing and manner of it too, but it wasn't a particularly bad defeat, anyone sensible to the realities of the situation would have half expected it, I personally had them down as favorites.

It’s a bad defeat to throw away a 2-0 lead against anyone. That’s why it got the reaction it did. If we’d have lost 1-0 O doubt there would have been such an outpouring of frustration and anger.

Yeah it’s being 2-0 up and losing.

If we had lost 3-2 but had been 3-0 down at half time and shown a good account of ourselves in the second half the anger wouldn’t have been so pronounced.

Plus coming off the back of not winning the Sheffield United game, it’s an added annoyance.

It never rains… kinda mindset.

I think in context of the season so far it was a shock result.

They've lost at home to far lesser sides than us and we were 2 up.

This isn't the Utd of old. Their fear factor has gone - it's only their fans who still seem to think they have a divine right to be at the top of the Prem every season.

They also drew to Liverpool at anfield and spanked Chelsea.

United ha e been that team this season. They are wildly inconsistent.

Lindelhof gets a new contract 😂😂

Shame that. Rather he went to Italy, Spain or back to Portugal and got some regular playing time. Guess Varane to Saudi gets them more money.

Really surprising at half time we didn't just do what we did at Chelsea last season. Go to back 5 or something and low block them to death. Even at 2-1 up we were still offering Garnacho endless space to run into.

I just think the team lost their heads a bit and we just couldn't think straight out there once they had momentum.

We don’t have an answer to Garnacho which was a worry.

Scored, offside

Scored, goal

Scored, goal.

Nothing from us to during that period at all. Very unlike us of late. If they were wearing different shirts I’d swear it wasn’t Unai’s Villa.

We caught them offside in the first half then Ten Hag told them to time their runs deeper to beat the offside trap.

I dont even think it was that, first half Fernandes took a terrible touch when played through over the top, so did rashford, garnacho was put through and over hit a simple pass to give the striker a tap in

We were a mess at the back all game, the difference was utd were only a mess upfront in the first half

Not really true.

They were far dominant from the 30th minute and on.

Warning signs was there during the break
