I don't mean to piss on your post but I'd bet that at least 90% of the regular posters on here don't even know who he is!
Then it's about time they **** did.

This is him with the 1963-4 squad, his last season with Villa but the one in which I remember him as goalkeeper most clearly.

Amazing how many of those players I can remember so well. Alan Deakin, Charlie Aitken, John Sleeuwenhoek, Tony Hateley, Phil Woosnam, Harry Burrows... they were my heroes when I was a nipper

Mind you it was a pretty terrible season and we were relegated to Division two within 4 seasons. :(

So that was you, was it?

I actually used to go with a schoolfriend, his dad and his grandad. The two grown-ups had season tickets for seats and they used to take us to the gates of the Holte End, wait for a responsible-looking adult to come along, and ask him to take us in and make sure we got good places.

Just wouldn't happen these days...

Exactly the same for me. Was great to see that picture again - just saved it for my PC.

The 'next' team has fond memories, too - with the likes of Pat McMahon, Willie Anderson, Ian Ross, Bruce Rioch, Ray Graydon, et al.
