FamousHolteUnion
If Di Matteo is not wanted by Chelsea then go for him, he is out of contract in June - No compensation. No. He's done well at Chelsea (in the cups, not the league) but he was shite at West Brom in the prem. He really wasn't. He managed WBA in the prem for 25 games. Losing 13 (52% Lose rate) and winning 7 (28% win rate - admittedly better than McLeish). Eck at Villa after 25 games: 28 points Di Matteo at WBA after 25 games: 26 points (admittedly we probably have a better squad than they did a year ago) He was sacked at WBA after losing 13 games out of their previous 18 matches. When he left they were joint on points with then 18th placed Wigan , ahead by only one goal. They finished up on 47 points after Hodgson took over. Moorski
Di Matteo has learned from his WBA PL days the guy is only 41,speaking to West Brom season ticket holders and I work with quite a few they would love to have him back there. He has conducted himself well at Chelsea and done well in the league aswell as the Cups, winning the FA Cup too boot!

I remember them starting strongly, and just being on a bad run when he got sacked.

macandally
If Di Matteo is not wanted by Chelsea then go for him, he is out of contract in June - No compensation. Matteo has just covered over the cracks at Chelsea. That team is run by Lampard, Terry, Cole and Drogba. You upset them, it doesnt work (AVB), you let them play and "bend" to their will, all is sunshine and light. Do not get carried away with DiMatteo. Nothing special. Martinez, Rogers or Poyet much better coaches and options in my opinion. Do you know what Rogers is up to when the season closes. Straight out to Madrid to look at their coaching methods. Thats desire and dedication and exactly what we should be looking for.
Ulver
Any decent manager should be able to get Chelsea winning things. Not sure Di Matteo would be much use with our squad/budget constraints personally
Houlston
AVB upsets the apple cart and Chelsea do nothing but play shit but Di Matteo brings harmony and gets Chelsea to a CL final and yet somehow AVB was doing the right thing? This whole AVB love in is perplexing, other than he writes a thesis on tactics before each game, he took a very very good Porto to win a league and cup double over their only rivals Benfica after they sold their four best players without replacing them. Granted the Europa League was commendable but even CI would have had a chance with that squad. AVB's man management takes petty to a whole new level, things like not letting certain players park in certain spaces is pathetic as is getting Tommy Langley sacked. Swerbs
AVB has a better record than Di Matteo at Chelsea. Is this the ping pong or Fifa they play there? but granted, di matteo did slightly better in his 10 games compared to avb's first 10 games. Houlston
Brilliant skew of stats, + 1 FA Cup + CL final = Di Matteos win % is better than AVB.

ciggiesnbeer
Did somebody mention Capello? Would be nice. But he is one of the top 5 best managers in the world. No way would he come to Villa, sadly.
