Modern Warfare 3

Previous thread got locked.

Thoughts? I was a big fan of mw1+2, not so much Black Ops. However I'm a little hesitant about getting this one, it just looks SO similar to the previous games. Yes: new weapons/maps and a new campaign, but I can't help but feel a little annoyed that it just seems like a rushed, minor upgrade.

I'm beginning to become tempted by BF3. As far as I'm concerned it's one or the other, and I'll probs end up going with mw3 in all honesty.

Anyone have any similar feelings?

Some good gameplay vids:

I have loved all the COD's so far but I dont think i'm going to bother with this one. It just looks like the exact same all over again... which isn't necessarily a bad thing, just not for me this time round. Maybe when it drops down in price and i'm bored of other games I will pick it up.

I was more interested in BF a few months ago, but with the Beta seemingly like BF2 all over again, I lost interest. Don't think I'll be getting it all now.

Hopeful for this one. People can say it's getting old, infact CoD hasn't made any big changes since CoD4, but it's still a good game and it's still the best FPS out there.

Watching the gameplay of this, you forget just how much better technically MW2/3 are compared to Black Ops.

Will be getting. Didn't get on with Battlefield at all (just a matter of personal preference, I definitely fall into the "run round like a prat" camp and not the measured, tactical one), plus I've gotten immense enjoyment out of every CoD I've played (Black Ops included). Hell, I don't even mind if they haven't changed anything, as change scares and confuses me. :)

Same here. Was looking forward to Battlefield but the Beta really put me off the multiplayer. But i decided to keep my pre order in the hope that the single player and co-op were decent. Reviews for it have started to come in for it though and the single player and co op recieved a bit of a bashing.

So i cancelled my pre order last night. 6 months of waiting for this game and i cancel 4 days before it comes out

Will probably end up getting MW3 at some point but Im just waiting for Skyrim now

Eh? Most reviews I've seen are praising it up. 9/10 most of them.

I didn't get on with the Beta, but I joined it late on so I was still getting used to the map. Everyone else seemed to know it well hence me getting killed and stropping.

I'm looking forward to diving straight into MP on release.

Yeah...those 9's you mention are purely for the multiplayer, they say the single player is boring and totally out of place. They say if they had released the game with just mulitiplayer then you wouldnt be missing anything.

And since i think the mulitiplayers shite i dont see much point in me buying it.

the single player is actually quite decent

Hmm IGN think its awfull.

Heres a quote that sums up reviews so far, taken from the inquisitr

For the short version, reviewers tend to agree that while Battlefield 3 excels in multiplayer – which is good, considering that’s what it was famous for – it falls short in almost every way in the singleplayer and co-op campaigns. Things holding back the solo experience include apparently incredibly poor AI, bothersome and uninteresting quick time events, and more.

I think the battlefield series is alot like Marmite. You love it or you hate it.

Don't worry, the beast is out in 2 weeks.

:thumb:

To be fair, if i did buy this it would have become redundant on the 11th November for at least 6 months anyway. By the time ive finished with Skyrim this will be £10 in the bargain bin. Might pick it up then. Might

This game has sucked me in again. I was adamant i wasnt gonna get it but i was watching a few of the new videos that have come out and i think its looks really good. The new way of earning killstreaks (or pointstreaks as theyre now called) looks like it could potentially put an end to all the camping and killstreak reward hoarders that annoy people. You also now choose the type of pointstreak you want when going into the game, assault, recon or specialist. The assault killstreaks are your basic damage dealing rewards like predator missiles, air strikes etc. The recon ones are things like UAV's and turrets and little helicopters that fly around that spot enemies. The specialist ones look interesting though...instead of earning normal rewards you add a new perk instead, so by the time you get to 12 kills you have every perk in the game! You lose them all when you die but that sounds like alot of fun. The gameplay itself looks very slick as well, alot better than BLOPS. Quite looking forward to it now actually. Even thinking of getting the hardened edition.

The only thing is...its released THREE days before Skyrim

Modern warfare seemed more pro online however BF2 was waaaaaaaaaaaay more fun and cooler to play.

MW was all about kills and kill streaks, whereas BF2 it was more "can I take my quad and drive off a cliff and detonate it into an apache helicopter" or c4 ing a building with campers inside and getting multi kills.

also Skyrim is out soon and until then Batman Arkam City needs it's back doors caving in, otherwise I won't be able to trade it in and buy it.

only way I can afford to keep up with the gaming industry at the moment.
