I would be fine with the situation IF his credentials were good. The fact of the matter is though that his record isn't good, he plays negative football, sitting 11 men behind the ball, buying journeymen players, kicking all flair players and not bringing any youth through. I genuinely believed that the link to him was just another media guess, I posted as much on here. Simply gutted. I would stand by any manager appointed by our club bar a manager that had come directly from the blues. This really hasn't sunk in yet. I didn't think for a second that Randy would even consider considering Mcleish or any other manager that came directly from across the city. Hand on heart with Randy as chairman thus has been my favourite era (I'm not as old as some of you) but right now I can't see how this, even just confirming their intention to consider Mcleish will go down as anything but a shadow over his reign that will be commented on for years to come. I can't even contemplate the reaction should they actually go ahead and appoint him...I just don't want to think about it! Right now I feel I'm taking a season long strike from villa park. Regardless of who we appoint I am not going to be renewing my season ticket that's for certain. Hate to think how empty VP will be first home game. What I would have liked was a statement from the club laughing off reports linking us with Alex Mcleish. What we got was a kick in the teeth, I feel let down and I can't imagine the apology that will get me feeling the way I should about the club I love. The only way there will be a good atmosphere around the club is if he can get a really good start to the season, but until then we'll be a club in turmoil that potential signings will look at and think "No **** way".
