What have people said that is ridiculous? He was fantastic with Colchester and has taken Norwich to probably two straight promotions. He is an upcoming manager who deserves a chance. Nobody is expecting him to get into the top 4 next year. It is about stabilising the club and moving us forward, along with Lerner, similar to what Moyes did with Everton, albeit without the Lerner figure.
I don't think people have said much ridiculous stuff to be fair, it's just he's constantly mentioned on here and everyone seems to think he could take us really far but I think he still needs more experience. If he wasn't young I don't think he would be as popular on here. People cite Moyes but he may not turn out like Moyes (who IMO is a tad overrated anyway).

Sam Allardyce until the end of the season and review after that.
Not the worst idea in the world. He would make us immediately more difficult to beat. I do think dbs is right though. Sam probably thinks more of himself than a short term fire-fighter. He's been shafted by 2 teams in the recent past and probably feels like a dogs body as it is. So it's probably not a runner.

Although he is not going to find another role before the end of the season so he has nothing to lose and everything possibly to gain, especially if he is on a save us and we'll pay you £1 million arrangement??

That's the idea that I'd like to see. Get him to come in on a short term deal worth a good few pounds and say we'll review the situation at the end of the season if you keep us up. I'd rather next season in the prem, than next season in the championship.

So who would you go for out of interest??. Would you rather we stay Foullier??.

Just can't see any manager coming for a short term, unless you gave them a big bonus in keeping us up.
That's what I'm saying, offer him 2 or 3 million if he keeps us up. It's a lost less than if we go down.

Who exactly has said he would take us far?

I have seen people citing his fantastic record so far, the fact is he is a young manager who has done well with crap teams, and also I have seen people saying he deserves a chance.

He may be crap, who knows? Guardiola could have been crap. Moyes could have been crap. Fergie and Wenger could have been crap. Coyle could have been crap.

The fact of the matter is nobody will know until you take a chance and his record shows he deserves a shot at it at least.

I agree with Maradona as well. He will lead Norwich to the Premier League and stay there for their season. He'll probably keep them up and then his stock will further rise.

Exactly dbs, it's just too safe a place for a poster to be. "He's not proven therefore he mightn't be good". Well duh. Thankfully those making the decisions are usually a bit more considered. I think Eddie Howe is another with great potential having done arguably even better than Lambert in his embryonic managerial career. But Lambert will make it and I think he'll find himself in the Prem next season even if Norwich don't.

I have always thought a young, upcoming manager who has the hunger and a good record suits Villa to the ground. Someone who will stay the distance throughout their career. Those fancy foreign names don't work for us, unless you are a Mourinho.

Well Owen Coyle (another manager mentioned a lot on here) would certainly be a better appointment as he has actually proven he can cut it in the Premier League.

I thought you would wanted Houllier to stay because he'll turn us into a good side next season. You, and some others who had these fantasies thinking he can get us playing good football with good results. Why the change now by 1 result?

Fantasies?

Wasn't based on one result, people were willing to give him more time than others..

regarding "good football" it's called passing it around more and that blackburn game was by far the most enjoyable game I have seen for a long long time.

But 95% of this so called passing football has no end product, its all this tip tap shit in the middle of the park that comes to nothing.

Right so because Houllier has managed us to give us one enjoyable game since he got here, that makes him worthy enough for next season despite the fact we're 3 points from bottom?

Did you enjoy his Wolves game too?

And I agree with Fran. Most of the time we lack ideas in the final third.
