P90 X

I only eat bananas for the potassium.

I only eat bread because I don't know what else to put with an egg. Or make sandwiches with.

And fat isn't really a concern for me at the moment. My body fat percentage can drop to below 6% if I use the gym consistently for a few weeks.

Chest and Back there went well enough. The final dive bomber got 1 half arsed rep and my second round numbers were all in single figures, but it's a start. Now onto abripper x and then the shake.

I'm glad I've found this thread. My mate did this last year and the results were impressive.

Personally I have been doing this for 2 weeks now, I'm really enjoying it and am surprised by my fitness. After a week and a half I was able to hit all 349 crunches on Ab Ripper X and I am sticking with the majority of the other exercises (I have ditched Kenpo X for Cardio X cause I enjoyed it more). I am using the Ripcords resistance bands and I definitely recommend them to anyone thinking of doing this. I am also finding the diet good to follow, mainly eating chicken and rice with the odd pasta meal. A normal days food would be cereal for breakfast, a banana at about 09:30, lunch, an apple at about 15:00 and then tuna for dinner after the days exercise.

All in all, I reckon I have probably lost half a stone since Christmas doing this programme and I can certainly see the definition in some parts of the abdomen and arms but that is probably muscle memory from times past. I look nothing like my avatar or my name, well I haven't for a good while at least! The aim is to be no lighter than 11.5 - 12 stone by the end of it all with the minimum achievement being the removal of the student debt off the mid riff.

It definitely helps to have an aim, for me its because I am heading to the beach in April and intend to take my new body with me. Would be good to discuss if others are still doing it.

And lastly I have to mention that yoga is a new hobby of mine, its awesome for mind and spirit. Doing it twice a week currently.

Where are you doing that Tubby (the yoga)?

I started this during the week but like a poster above - I too find it difficult to come home, mark work, cook and go for a run followed by doing one of these sessions.

Im going to do it temporarily at the moment as I like to think my running and sit-ups are helping my fitness at the moment.

I haven't had a beer for a month either so am slowly gaining a bigger wallet again and clearer head - i find dropping the booze is really helping me to get fitter again.

Anyway, I will try and do the sessions when I can at the moment although realise that I need to be doing it everyday to get the best results (at least I assume that I need to be doing it as per the plan?)

The yoga? Just do it in my flat like all the other exercises. Its a 90 minute workout but its an enjoyable one especially if you can see improvement each time.

Much like everyone else I have to manage to fit it in outside of work. I live in the smoke but I have the privelege of being able to walk to and from the office each day. I generally start the exercises sometime between 6 and 7pm.

If your plan is to do some of it sporadically I recommend the Cardio X, Ab Ripper X and Yoga X to achieve weight loss and general toning. If you are running then use the Plyometrics video too. In my opinion, the 13 week cycle is a nice to have but if you are unable to meet the level of discipline required I think you can still make it work. The most important element is probably the diet so no drink and eating meals with low fat and sugar content is probably the way forward.

I can handle all the other resistance workouts but Ab Ripper X is way beyond me right now, having to stick with Ab Ripper 100 for now, going to move up to 200 in the next few weeks then eventually on to X. I agree about having a goal, I aim to get down to 12.5-13 stone, i'm currently at 13.5 down from 15 in October, quite pleased with myself.

I wish I could take 90 days off work and do this properly. I just know that when I'm working i won't keep this up. Annoying because I'd be nearly finished now if I'd kept it up from the start

I have a stag weekend in 2 weeks, if I can get passed that I will stick with it to the end. Get back on it Steve, little and often.

Im thinking of doing the P90 rather than the P90X as Im not that fit. However I dont really want to lose any weight though - Im about 12 stone, just shy of 6ft but there isnt much of me - have a bit of a belly that I would like to lose but thats it. Do you think the P90 is for me? Would like to lose my belly and put on a bit of muscle. What do you reckon?

Don't worry about having the odd day off and going nuts lads, we all need a break from time to time. The number one reason diets and exercise plans fail is because they are unsustainable, let's be honest, there's no way anyone can sustain the p90X routine for more than a few months. Take a day off now and then, treat yourself, get pissed, eat kebab pizzas, lie around on the sofa. If you have scheduled days off (I have one a week) it breaks up the intensity of the routine and makes it easier to keep up in the long run, not only that but having a high calorie day once a week boosts your metabolism and helps to keep your fat burning ability nice and high.

My advice would be to make sure there's plenty of protein in your diet when you do it.

Also, if you're worried about losing weight, substitute some of the cardio exercise days for some of the weight training.

Not sure what the routines are in P90, but using P90x as an example, instead of doing plyometrics one day, redo the chest and back day. That way you're still working out but not doing exercise that will lose your weight.

Cheers mate,

The P90 Basically gives you 3 'Sculpt' days and 3 'Sweat' days with Sunday off. The sweat days are obv the cardio ones - how many do you think I should drop? Just the one?

Make sure you weigh yourself regularly. I would advise to start with what it tells you to do, so do 3 sculpt and 3 sweat. If you notice that you're losing a bit of weight, then drop one and do an extra sculpt. if that doesn't work, then drop 2.

I think as long as you monitor your weight you should be able to judge it. if you definitely want to drop one from the start then I would say just drop 1 to start with.

Might be worth googling it. On p90x they encourage you to swap days if you think you need it. If you hate Yoga, then do another session of plyometrics, for example. Someone has probably been in your exact situation before so they may have tailored the routines to suit someone who doesn't want to lose weight and put it on the net

Saw this for people looking to just bulk up. He suggests doing the full p90x first though. Well at least the guy who links the article does.

Plyo went alright today although I skipped half a round and the bonus round. Tomorrow is my favourite. Shoulders and arms. Can't wait.

Right, IM sorting my garage out to make it it into a gym and am going to start the P90 next week. Do you guys reccomend taking any protein shakes or multi vitamins or anything? If so are any particular brand better? Not exactly flush with cash so the cheaper the better really :(

Definitely protein shakes mate. As I said before you'll need a lot of protein if you want to bulk up, or make sure you keep your weight up with muscle whilst losing the flab. It's hard to get enough protein in a normal diet so shakes are probably the best way.

I think you can buy some online for cheap, but there's a lot of dodgy brands out there. If you don't want to risk that, try popping to Holland and Barret. They have reasonably cheap shake mix in there, and they often do offers on it, so you might pick up two tubs for the price of one. Costs £10-£15 for a large tub but that'll last you a few weeks so it's not too costly.

Wish I I had a garage like you, would love a space like that to convert into a gym. I have a huge garden, i'm genuinely considering bulding a large shed in it and turning that into a gym!
