Be prepared for utd fans to start banging tables telling everyone he's world class and it's a sign that they're back, in reality bayern are cashing in on a 31 year old who might not be a crock but will certainly need game time managing, they've probably got the better end of the deal

Good player, good signing and I'll be interested to see him in the prem at least but he's not what he was

Them back would've been them signing Toni Kroos or Cesc Fabregas in recent years, young players fully at their peak for club and country.

Seems Van Gaal is doing a Fergie, signing players in the 29-31 age range, maybe win a title and then leave his successor to pick up the pieces.

They're still quite a way from winning the title or competing in latter stages of champions league when you compare their squad to others.

Twitter last night suggesting shaqiri wasn't happening for them at least, Johnson and given aren't as good signings as they will be made out to be, Johnson might be better than what they have but everyone who isn't part of the media and the Liverpool / England old boys brigade thinks he's shit, given as 3rd choice will be a fair bit of money, if they sell begovic then given or butland as 1st choice leaves them weaker

I agree. Seems Shaqiri is going Schalke anyway.

It's that old age debate, do you risk another 50m to attempt to get in the top 6 or are you happy enough to just be in the top 10 which in fairness to Stoke they have built a top 10 side for very little money.

He's signed one player in the 29-31 range. He has also signed Memphis who is one of the biggest young talents in the world, Darmian who is 25 and Morgan Schneiderlin looks likely too who is also 25. Not to mention none of his signings last summer were 29+

With Carrick, Schwein, Schneiderlin and Ander we'll have probably the best midfield in the league. A backup striker for depth and a CB are all that are needed and one of Ramos or Otamendi, more likely Otamendi are looking likely.

Best midfield in the league?? Take those red glasses off... The midfield of Chelsea and arsenal is miles better, not too mention city could still get Pogba.

Agree with the original statement though, utd signing Kroos or fabregas would be them being "back" not schweinstiger, he spent a lot of last season injured, only started about 15 games, bayern are getting shot of him (much to the anger of the bayern fans #pepout)

Utd aren't buying a world class midfielder in his prime, they are buying a fading one who will need to be carefully managed

I don't need red glasses. Chelsea have the best full strength but their depth is shite. After Matic and Fabregas they are relying on Mikel and Ramires who are average at best and Oscar flatters to deceive most of the time.

Schneiderlin and Carrick are both better DMs than Coquelin and Schwein can play as a no. 6 as well. Ander is as good as Wilshere who is always injured and Ramsey who doesn't even get to play centrally anymore because Coquelin is so limited. Cazorla is great but he just adds to the problem of Arsenal constantly being physically overrun. There depth at DM is also horrible and will have to rely on Flamini or Arteta if Coquelin gets injured or his good form ends. They can play Wilshere there, if he is fit, but again it just adds to their problem of being physically dominated and overrun. At no.10 Ozil is also great but with the added defensive stability that Schneiderlin can add playing alongside Carrick or Schwein and we can play Di Maria or Mata centrally who are as good as Ozil.

Very doubtful City will sign Pogba and Yaya is a shadow of his former self and he is relied on to carry their midfield. Fernando is average and very limited and Fernandinho was pretty good in his first season but fell off since then.

he has a point though, Ramires is a good athlete but a bit of a clown when comes to tackling and Mikel well that guy really has stole a living he is actually worse than Reo-Coker

Schwein

You'll be best off using his proper nickname "Schweini".  Schwein means pig in German.

In fact, the literal translation of his name is "pigclimber".  Makes you wonder what his ancestors were up to when surnames were being handed out.

The two of them have played in about 40-45 games a season each since they've played for the club (Obi Mikel a little less and only 20 last season as they're probably looking for a replacement) in a pretty successful side.
