Would anyone say that the worst category of offenders should be slaughtered for their organs?

A very good question and one which the experimentalists appear to have ignored.

On a more facetious note, I wonder whether they would advocate the use of these offenders as sex objects in order to give those whose lives are apparently worth more a little bit of pleasure?

Or live targets for munitions testing?

When somebody kills another human, well, that's hardly human, that's animalistic.

The moment someone sees himself as able to treat another as less than human (for whatever reason) then he himself loses some of his humanity.

The Snow-meister, he speaks much sense.

I fear for the day our government would start to use it's criminals as guinea pigs, human shields, organ donors etc on the basis that they're somehow sub-human animals beneath our contempt.

That would not be a society i would want to live in.

CED,

Do you wear leather shoes?

Nope!

Good try though :P

Although in the case of leather it could be argued that (as with wool) it's just a by product of our practice of killing cows for meat.

But hunting animals just for the sake of obtaining their skin is wrong.

And i'll ignore the cavemen arguement, as i don't see what relevance it has to the 21st century.

I also disagree with the aspect of losing your humanity when treating those who deserve it less than human. But that is getting into a debate about what exactly makes us human and is not the right place for it here!

I'd suggest you either didn't read what I wrote or didn't understand it.

I understand your argument that as soon as someone can justify to themselves that treating other humans less than human, they have lost some of their humanity (or have i missed it completely?)

But my retort was simply is treating everyone with the same values 'human'?

Fair enough, you obviously did get it and it's probably my fault that I didn't get that you did.

But my retort was simply is treating everyone with the same values 'human'?

I think Levi's post put it best:

It's quite likely (indeed almost certain) that lives are of unequal value.

However, how can any human know the relevant values?

Or Game shows.

I would take you any day, Snowy!

It´s a time to be proud to be black amongst the white sheeple.

Huh??? :o  :suspect: :wow:

Haha sorry :)

I thought you used the black sheep expression in UK as well.

To be the black sheep = to be strange, different etc. compared to the "normal" people or white sheeps.

Only this time the "normal" people are manipulated, easily feared (like sheep)zombies who swallow any headline at face value. Sheeple.

Mostly talking about my own little turned facist country but goes for most.

And we are supposed to be enlightened and educated...

Here is a conspiracy theory to laugh at:

The PC brigade clearly haven't got the same hold over your country that they have over ours.

It's OT and am not really looking for a reply to it, but given some of the things posted in this thread, it'd be very interesting to hear how some people would deal with these type of criminals.

I have no issue with the death penalty, providing the ultimate safeguards are in place (in the case of exoneration, every juror, attorney who spoke in court for the prosecution, and every witness called by the prosecution would agree to summary execution unless they stated to the judge and jury, under pains and penalties of perjury that they had sufficiently reasonable doubt of the guilt of the defendant that execution would not be warranted).

Why is it anyone who doesn't share the views of a Liberal or Socialist is deemed to have been "manipulated"or "will "swallow any headline at face value"?

Who says that?

You may well have been manipulated or have swallowed all and sundry but I doubt that has owt to do with your illiberalism.

It was the gist i got from DV's post.... you may read it different that's your issue.

I don't get manipulated or swallow any headline i read.... most papers are full of shit anyway..... i've never read one copy of the Daily Mail either which may surprise Mrs Snowychap... oops i mean Chindie.

The lack of blinkers probably helped me.

Ooh, more attempts at provoking others. I'd have thought you might have been guided as to how to conduct yourself like a grown up on VT.

It appears that, even if you have, you have chosen to ignore any basics of decorum.

I am disgusted at myself that I convinced myself that you might learn how to behave.

Just a difference of opinion then snowy. Your opinion is the above, mine is that you don't really deserve civilsed human rights unless you can act like a civilised human yourself. Murdering somebody is far from a human thing to do.

Quite surprised to hear this as your answer. We obviously disagree on the topic issue here, as you don't feel humans should ever be experimented on. But you feel it's okay for them to be killed?

I have no problem with true voluntary experimentation. You're not going to get voluntary consent from someone who is a ward of the state.

I don't think that there would be many executions given the standard I put forth.
