PompeyVillan
Which would you prefer, finish 4th in the league OR win the league cup? I would rather we win the LC, because I'm starved of glory.
briggaman
I'd rather win the LC and finish in the top six to be honest.

Vojskovoda
League Cup for me... I mean, finishing in the top 4 is overrated.
thegodfathertm07
LC as long as liverscum finish 4th and not spurs/man city, otherwise top 4.
Rob182
As much as I'd love us to get a cup, I'd prefer to finish top 4 - just because we'd be the first team to do it for a while, we'd get Champs League and we'd break up the usual, predictable man u, chelsea, liverpool, arsenal party. World_Domination
After reading the blues thread I was going to pose the question, LC winners or finish above blues? but I thought it was a bit mean. For me I'd take the first even if the question was for just a Wembley appearance.
VillaAsh
Are you three serious? I may have missed the sarcasm but...you would seriously give up a place in the CL for the mickey mouse cup? I too would love for us to grab some silverware this season, but not at the expense of the massive step forward that gaining Champions League football would give us! VillaAndLoyal
Finishing above Blues wouldn't even be a legitimate poll question. It will happen whether we vote for it in a poll or not :winkold:
daft
4th. The LC would be nice, but I think I would prefer a shot at the Champions League even if we have to get through a qualifying round or two first.

That's sort of a different question you've put foward. We'd have to play 1 qualifying round (3rd round) in Champions League to ensure ourselves in the actual competition... if it was a certainty that we'd be playing in Champions League proper, oh yes, I'd certainly prefer to play in Champions League than win the League Cup. wiganvillain
4th The potential to develop the team and club much much further would come from 4th not the Couldn't Care Less Cup
DiegoD
4th without any doubt, as much as i'd like some silverware getting into forth really gives us the opportunity to push forward and try to get that world class player

Zatman
League Cup for me. Champions League is a tournament im not fond of and i prefer a trophy
TrentVilla Posted December 29, 2009 Moderator Share Posted December 29, 2009 Although you can't put 4th in a trophy cabinet or on your club honours list I think it would be a far bigger achievement and far more significant for the development of the club. I'm greedy though I want both.
Gringo
Yeah, because it was a massive step forward for Everton wasn't it... Where are they now again?Unlike winning the LC, which really was massive step forward for boro. Where are they now again? You can't take the level of success of one particular club following a certain level of achievement and apply that to another.
Hanky
League cup for me. Champions League is too overhyped these days and we would still have to get through a preliminary round and keep it up next year much like Everton could not.
PompeyVillan
12 vote for each at the moment. Interesting. I feel my stance is partly down to fact that I feel deep down that it is far more likely that we'll win the LC than finish 4th. And I agree with Trent, , finishing 4th would be the greater footballing achievement, but less recognised. Would finishing 4th be better for our long term development though? I'm not sure. We could finish 4th, struggle to sign the star players that we crave and then fail to qualify for the group stages of the Champion's League.
