Southgate will pick Ollie but then sit him on the bench, that way he can act as if he's done us all and Ollie a favour whilst being an arrogant prick.

He'll need Harry Kane for that all important friendly at home to Australia...

Edit - seriously, c&b specs off he doesn't call up Ollie he calls up Wilson or Abraham on one leg or calvert Lewin despite showing he doesn't rate him or any other English striker his history for playing kane in pointless games like that rather than giving someone else this experience that he demands over everything else is the epitome of why he's such a shit manager

Craves experience, doesn't give any

He's such a word removed

I do think there's an element of The Clamour though where the media start talking about certain players, and there becomes a pressure for an England manager to pick them. I think the media narrative has switched quite rapidly to 'why isn't Konsa capped yet' and 'why did he pick Nketiah instead of Watkins'. Not sure The Clamour is quite as strong for Ramsey (from the media; I think other fans are quicker to see his value) but even Southgate usually ends up picking players eventually.

England are just extremely lucky that Konsa hasn't declared for any of the three other national sides he's eligible for, and there may be some pressure downwards towards Southgate regarding that as well.

I think part of his problem is that he doesn't see the midfield as struggling whereas most of us would probably say its been our weakest link since 2018 where we effectively bypassed it with kick and rush, he's now got CB issues taking the headlines but he's never fixed the middle, it was piss weak with phillips and Henderson anyway and now both of those 2 need to be got rid of

And if he think Gallagher is the answer then he's not going to fix it...he has to look at his options in the next 2 breaks, that includes Ramsey, probably Curtis Jones and maybe Elliot

He needs 5 midfielders in his squad realistically from rice and bellingham who pick themselves and then Gallagher, Henderson, phillips, Ramsey, elliot, Jones, Mount

Then you throw in he refuses to try foden there but will try TAA there

Boils your piss how much of a clown he is

When his wife asks him what he's looking at on his laptop, he shuts it quickly and says unconvincingly "it's just pornography, don't worry!"

Gareth got frightened when he clicked on his searches for "trimmed bush".

My level of dislike for the man is quite ridiculous given that it is only(!) a game and his level of success far outweighs any of his recent predecessors.

Just looking at his face angers me. Not because he doesnt pick Villa players. I don't give a crap about that  its because he is so risk adverse. A financial controller in charge of a team that needs a salesman at times.  They go about how England have a great team spirit. Who cares ? This is about winning and winning only with International football. Let them fight and hate one another. And then maybe just maybe when you need that anger and aggression it is the difference maker.

The fact it's still touch and go whether Ollie gets in the squad after the year he's had is just ridiculous. Konsa is also deserving of a call up and has been for a while but again doubtful he gets an opportunity. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if players like Nketiah and Colwill were picked instead and it's hard not to think it's just because they play (occasionally) for 'big' teams.

Konsa should've been looked at in 20/21 period instead of wasting time on guys like Coady and Dier as  squad cheerleaders. Now both are over 30, nowhere in premier league terms and there's an inexperienced void with lack of caps behind Maguire and Stones.

Only thing I'd say is Konsa then followed that up with a dodgy 18 months. Not like many on here were urging him to be called up in 21/22 period so I can understand him wanting to see if he can keep up this good form from March onwards.

I personally think Ramsey would've been in the September squads but for the injury given his influence at under 21 level.

Ollie should be in. I despair if Calvert Lewin just gets in having played about 2 games in six months, they'd certainly be an agenda as we saw with him overlooking Mings for the June games despite him being brilliant in the run in for us.

Maddison also went a good two years without any call up. In really good form at Leicester just before the World cup and I don't think he played a single minute in the end.

Goes to Spurs and suddenly he's starting games regularly.
