I have no faith that Purslow will pull the trigger in a week's time even if we get nothing out of the next two games. Offered Gerrard the job the day after Deano got the sack and didn't interview any other candidate so is up to his neck in this. It will need the owners to give the thumbs down to get this resolved.

Can someone explain this to me. We are told the player is a long term target. We obviously have contacted Watford and negotiated a deal. We have negotiated a contract with the player. We are now lead to believe that either Watford have upped the requirements or the player has. Because of the above we walk away from the deal, no further negotiations. That doesnt sound right to me. The other rumour that Lange wanted him and Gerrard didnt also seem a bit weird. I mean how can the manager pull the plug on a deal that has been done by someone else at the club?

Fans may have to make their feelings know loud and clear which isn’t great for the team unfortunately. Cannot see Purslow pulling the trigger any time soon

Without going over old ground there is obviously an issue between Tyronne and the manager. Removing him as captain and then not offering him a vice captain role and then to compound that drop him for the first game of the season screams that there is an issue. Hi comments to Radio WM just confirm it. Its not a stretch to believe Tyronne is a popular figure in the dressing room and this treatment will rile a few senior players and you can see that Watkins might side with Mings. The press briefings that the senior players are upset with Gerrards training and winning attitude is SGs way of shifting the blame from him to the players which again wont go down well at all. Its interesting to see how this pans out.

Dont believe the timescales mentioned by Purslow and Gerrard. He was pretty much offered the job on the Monday (day after Smith got sacked) it was left to Gerrard to decide if he wanted it or not. So anyone being interviewed was just for show and nothing more.

His record in Scotland did not deserve the chance to manage our club unfortunately and Purslow has to carry the can on this.

He would give him more time but hasn't seen anything during his tenure that makes it worth replacing Smith with Gerrard..........We have no style, no identity and Gerrard appears oblivious to most of the issues.

Dreadful decision from Gerrard. It reminds me a bit of when O'Leary (I think) took over and dropped Melberg (again I think). He did have sense to put it right for the next game, anyone want to bet that Gerrard will be more stubborn

Weren't there rumours before the start of last season that there was a bit of a falling out between him and the manager?

Disappointed he didn't see his future here but he won't be long at Chelsea as you can see him going out on loan. Wonder at what level that will be?
