  1. That's where I'm at. He's a stopgap til Mcginn makes his comeback.
  2. Susso and Dean have done it again. Mings last year and now Reina. Lost count how many times he retained possession out of the back where a lesser keeper would have hoofed it.
  3. Yep would be a winger if he had any pace. Not sure if he will ever be a plus defender but his crossing and overlapping runs make up for it.
  4. Can't wait for Douglas's thread to come full circle and it's nothing but post about his buyback clause come the end of the season.
  5. For me he is a better version of Tuanzebe. He can stay fit and isn't scared of an aeriel duel. As we get more comfortable with the back 3 can see him overlapping the wide men effectively like Sheffield United do. Another young player rising to the occasion. You love to see it.
  6. 10/10 performance right there. Did all the dirty work then he started doing a full on Mcginn impression. His drives up the field in the 2nd half were so needed. He is right behind Grealish and Mings as far performances go. Must start going forward.
  7. OMG I had to go check the highlights for myself
  8. Just like Jack during his age 20 & 21 season in the prem. I vividly remember Jack coming on against Hull, with Bruce as the manager, and closing out the game for us. I sometimes go back and watch the highlights from that match just to see Hull utterly fail to get the ball off him(he was so tiny back then). Douglas seems to be at the same stage in his career. He can't yet maintain a consistent effort for 90 minutes but put him on for 30-40 minutes and watch him wreck havoc.
  9. Against Burnley we close out a victory on the road while the home team is throwing the kitchen sink at us. Now, against Brighton and Watford we have come back from losing positions to grab 4 points and it wasn't by luck we fully deserved both results. If you can't see the progress by this point then you're choosing not to. UTV!!!

Che Adams is another one. Cost Southampton 15 million and hasn't scored a goal yet. He is mostly making sub appearances after an early run of starts didn't go that well. Same age as Wesley. Given that Southampton has 2 senior strikers in Long and Ings he has little pressure to perform and can take his time bedding into the premier league. We weren't able to have that same luxury. It's been a trail by fire for most of our young guys and I think in future seasons they will be better for it.
  11. Probably why Smith rotates him every now and then with Mohamady. The physical demands of the Prem can wear even the best player down over a season.
  12. His passing is his weakness. Pretty much every pass is a hope. Looked better in the 2nd half but at best he makes the 18 but doesn't start week in and out. Mings has to stay in that center sweeper role so for now Hause is the best we have for the left sided CB in the 3-4-3.
  13. As others have mentioned Brentford went in a free fall after Smith left. Then Brentford brought in 19 players over the summer window. Comparing that team to last year's is just plain dumb. Using it as a stick to beat Dean is even dumber. Anyone who is saying get rid of Smith when he sits a whole point off our target for the season really need to check themselves. At least don't be the same people complaining when a player looks to move on to a better team one season after signing.
  14. Just watched that goal again.....WOW! The crazy thing is every goal is better than the next. The more difficult the situation he just rises to meet it. He's stay healthy, we stay up. Their I said it.
  15. Maybe we were saving our energy for the 2nd half. I can't understand how else the 2 halves were so different. Happy for the away draw. Please Dean, no more of the Danny Drinkwater experiment.
  16. Same, Leeds already owe Wolves 15 million for Helder Costa promotion or not. Can't see it.
  17. The Athletic just dropped an article on Bournemouth's struggles. They are at 85% wages to turnover. Their two 13 million pound summer signings have played a total of 4 games this season due to injuries. The poor transfers of Ibe and Solanke have been mentioned on here before but I had no idea Begovic cost 10 million. So in summary they're in real trouble and probably don't have much to spend this window on improving their chances. Also, the Solanke transfer was mentioned as a panic buy with most people at the club not knowing the deal was done til it was announced on Twitter. That transfer happened during the winter window so it shows how a club can really screw themselves when a panic sets in.
  18. Honestly it looked like the same amount of effort they gave during the Fulham game. No tackles, barely any physical play. Just looked like they were trying to stay healthy. Makes for horrible viewing but I get it.
  19. Just go back one page on Nakamaba's thread and he was the worst midfielder on the team. Now Smith was wrong to bench him. .
  20. Smith tried something to make our midfield more solid in possession. It failed spectacularly. All you can do there is throw that plan out and try something new against Brighton.
  21. Really hard to judge a keeper when the whole team was shit in front of him. Should have saved that Mahrez one at his near post but that would have only delayed the inevitable.
  22. I get it. He needed a run out, hasn't played in ages. The game that we really need him for is next week. All that said he looked awful. The only way to go after that is up.
  23. Either that or start preparing for your championship promotion campaign. Watford's second goal was 8 Bournemouth players watching Deeney stroll up and crush a loose ball just bouncing in their own box. If that isn't the effort of a team who's given up then I don't know what is.
  24. Liverpool spent heavy but you can still find bargain purchases any club could have made. Robertson was 8 million from Hull. Matip on a free and Gomez cost only a 3rd of what we paid for Konsa. City on the other hand is just huge purchase after huge purchase. The only smart buy is maybe maybe Zinchenko who they got for roughly 2 million from shakhtar Donestek. It's almost comical looking at their expenditures. Also, if KDB went for 80 million 2 years ago then Jack is easily 100 mil plus.
  25. I was wondering what was going on with Fraser. Just going through their past fixtures and they desperately need to bring in some attacking options. In October they had 3 games and scored 0 goals. In December they had 6 games and scored 2 goals. That type of ineptitude in attack will keep them in the relegation battle all season.
