Bolded the part that some on here banging the sell player x drum don't understand. Very few teams are going to pay for our 2nd teamers. They just aren't that good, that's why they are a backup to begin with. You can post incessantly about selling "x" or "y" player but that isn't going to make it happen any quicker. The more likely outcome is that backup players on a mid table PL team go for a small loan/transfer fee or just see out their deal.

Yep. It's inevitable if you sign younger players they will want to kick on if the club doesn't progress at the same rate as their ambition. That is why we moved quickly to offer all of our young performers new deals. That way even if they do get their head turned the transfer fee we receive will easily allow us to find a replacement and further invest in the club.

Still the same guy from the championship. Can't deal with high balls at all. Club has outgrown him. Hopefully Konsa stays mostly injury free this season.

Maybe, just maybe all of the holes in our squad don't need to be solved by splashing millions in the transfer market.

Absolutely. You can see so many little benefits, like where Konsa pretty much set a pick on a FK to get Buendia open out wide. I love how Dean is working in the margins to manufacture points.

McKennie is definitely someone to get excited about. Much better than those random midfielders we were linked to in Ligue 1. Sanson, McKennie, McGinn and Ramsey as our #8s would be absolutely fantastic.

Buendia doesn't cut inside he literally drifts all over the field. There were a couple times he was actually on the left touchline. When a player wants a free role like that it's much easier to cover for him If he starts from the center. Do that from a wide position and you are leaving your FB 2v1 all day.

AEG contract still has two years to run. So by then we should know whether JPB is ready to step up.

Highly doubt we re-sign with JPB waiting in the wings. We either sell or let his contract run out. Wages aren't crazy and given COVID the rest of Europe doesn't seem to have the funds to make selling him worthwhile.

Because he knows half the stadium was doubting him. People don't realize how badly he saved us last season. We literally had zero pen takers in the squad outside of him.

We go on about our owners, well check out Rennes. They definitely sell players as part of their financial strategy but they aren't hard up like that.

Young, obviously is the much better diver since his won a penalty. That was a sh*t dive by the Newcastle player and Young was letting him know as much. Also, maybe he slipped a couple of pointers in as well .

Cheap? Rennes paid £20 million+ for him last year. If he shows the same quality this year as he did in the Euros you aren't getting him for less than £40 million.

Tired cliche but anyway he had no issues with Sarr 2nd half versus Watford. Again made it look easy versus Newcastle. More than good enough til Targett regains fitness.

Replaced Douglas. It was very late in game so I never got a real chance to see how he set up though.

Dean knew Newcastle was just going to lump it forward over and over again. Smart decision but wouldn't read much else into it.

Might as well go looking for the next Bissouma because Man City will be buying him to replace Fernandinho next summer.

You watch JJ and Carney in the wings and it makes sense why we have been relatively quiet with our transfer window activity in the midfield. Summer of 2018 Newcastle sold both Ivan Toney and Adam Armstrong for pennies. Then the next summer they went and bought Joelinton for £40 million.
