  1. Agree, was a poor shot by Watkins, the layoff was fine
  2. Thought he was fine. Not a starter but excellent squad player if he’s happy with that.
  3. There will be an enormous amount of bed shitting now on here, but I think we’ve always struggled more in these sorts of games than we do against teams that try to play a bit of football in our half. We are missing some creative talent in the final third to break down a parked bus. Our attacking players are all a bit samey - quick, athletic, direct. Think we need a more technical option in there. VAR was a bit frustrating, I thought the Ramsey thing was six of one, half a dozen of the other, and they should have just gone with the ref’s decision. Mostly though, our plan didn’t work. We clearly had a lot of planned moves involving a central hall over the top, but Foderingham anticipated all of them. I don’t know if that was bad execution or a flawed plan, or Shef Utd working it out beforehand. Whatever, it didn’t work. Frustrating evening.
  4. Being poor isn’t the same as being complacent. It’s not the attitude that’s the problem.
  5. You are, I don’t see any sign of complacency, we’ve just struggled to break them down and we have several key players out. You’re writing clapped out melodramatic dog shit
  6. I think it's great if more people are supporting Villa. The only hesitation I have is those performatively tribal, AFTV / Twitter troll type fans, who seem to be drawn to the most successful clubs. But kids seeing Villa and deciding they want to support Villa, and being inspired by our players... why not?
  7. Impossible for most straight men? Isn't the question how much crazy you can handle without ending up a complete wreck? I'd say being falsely accused of domestic violence to the point that other people are kicking the shit out of you falls somewhere outside the sweet spot, but others may differ.
  8. Agreed, I think he would be the hardest player to replace, which is why our rivals would be keen to buy him. He's kind of our Xavi now. He's so integrated into the way we play, has a good understanding with everyone around him. It would be ripping the heart out of the team. Losing Martinez would be enormous, but we'd probably get silly money for him. Losing Watkins would be a shame, too. But I wouldn't be as worried as if we lost Dougie, as I think his ceiling is potentially being seen as the best centre mid in the world in 2 or 3 years.
  9. Poetic for this to happen literally a day after they all gave it the big un, thank you Leicester, that was very very funny
  10. Yeah it’s one thing not judging someone morally for taking drugs, it’s another thing trying to have a relationship with someone who is clearly using drugs in response to major mental health issues and traumas that are way beyond your capacity to handle. Stick with the counselling and look after yourself. You can’t fix her. She might fix herself one day, but it’s not your responsibility unfortunately, and not the foundations of a healthy relationship. Sorry.
  11. Going to be tough in 15 years when a succession of promising young managers fail to replicate the Emery years
  12. In fairness to Brentford, there’s a load of their fans who recognise this is all a storm in a teacup. All clubs have silly, thick fans who give them a bad name. I prefer Brentford to plenty of other teams in this league.
  13. "I'd do it a thousand times" Love him.
  14. Watkins will be distraught about ruining his legacy at Brentford.
  15. We were 1-0 down and getting caught on the break regularly, and although we dominated possession, we weren’t creating clear chances. Of course the red card was deserved, but we needed that stupidity from Mee to change the momentum of the game. A well earned win on the road in the end, but wasn’t a vintage performance by any means.
  16. Mess of a game, got lucky there, glad to get that out of the way
  17. Not his fault really. We keep falling asleep on the counter which is why they had the corner in the first place, and we’re not doing enough around their box. Brentford playing well, clear what their plan is
  18. Agree, looked well offside and then somehow the camera angle changes it into level with play on the freeze frame.
  19. Charitably, I'd guess this is because Emery actually sees a lot of potential in him, and wants him to learn. Some players (e.g. Bailey) take longer than others (e.g. McGinn) to absorb the information.
  20. People can fix themselves while they’re in relationships, but @T-Dogthis sounds like 100% one of those situations where the fixing needs to be done outside a relationship. You’re putting your own safety and mental health at risk here, and you need to remind yourself that “the one” doesn’t exist, and someone else you will like this much exists somewhere in the world and will NOT accuse you of domestic violence and whatever else. I’d def recommend getting therapy if you can. Not because I think you’re being crazy or anything but because this is heavy stuff you’re dealing with and you need to talk to a professional, not a bunch of randos on a football forum, however bright and well intentioned and good looking we all are.
  21. Getting really boring reading this kind of take on every single thread. We’re third in the Premier League and apparently most of our squad have a shit attitude, can’t play football etc
  22. That’s just completely untrue. He was making loads of runs off his defender throughout the game, but it was too crowded for anyone to pick him out. I don’t think you can judge Durán off last night’s game. It was a striker’s nightmare - especially a quick striker who is more comfortable attacking space. He’ll have more joy coming off the bench against better sides.
