  1. Literally every season people go into the last week thinking the REALLY big signing is still to happen. And it basically never does. Who was the last big name player we picked up in the last week of a window?
  2. I’m still working through all the missed pages. Seems like Jack Harrison is nearly done.
  3. I think there is a reason Diaby is being kept 30 yards away from the defense. From what I've seen from his tackling so far which backs up the Bundesliga stats is that he makes Bailey look like Roy Keane. So I dont see him playing any deeper than he is now. I can see that team being used but more in a 4-3-3 where it makes sense as a game plan against the opposition.
  4. Good news we’re close. Seems like a deal with plenty of upside. His goal is to be better than Bailey, a kid who’s never played in top flight of any league and not get an ACL. Shouldn’t be the highest bar but who knows.
  5. Because they are top of the FFP league. The ONLY league that matters.
  6. Profile wise ESR would be a good replacement for Emi. But given the unplanned nature of this I think we’ll be shopping in the bargain bin or clever transfers. Think Arsenal would want decent money for him.
  7. Yeah agreed our game will now adapt. I also thought he looked good on the ball. Guess that’s a given with his reputation. Really need to make sure we our able to adapt to cover the things we’ll now miss with Mings out. It’s a huge challenge but he’s got the pedigree and the manager to hopefully figure out a game plan that play to his and our strengths in both directions.
  8. Defensively - probably. Mings was a monster in the air. Like a magnet to the ball, always seems to be in the right place. It’s something Carlos, Torres and Konsa are going to have to really work hard at because it’s a big big loss. Offensively - not at all. Mings is surprisingly terrible at attacking corners. From what I’ve seen of Carlos and Torres I think this is one area we’ll actually improve.
  9. Agreed. What we need is a dominant CB like Mings but given we won’t be able to throw the money at it that would be required then we really need Torres and Carlos to step up and show their worth.
  10. Watching Rollheiser YT vids was the tonic I needed tonight. He looks like Messi. Thanks VT.
  11. Correct me if I'm wrong but I dont think Archer is used to being the figurehead of an attack. He played up top with Akpom at Middlesborough and pretty sure there was a target man type player alongside him at Preston. At Villa he is playing the Watkins role leading the line and maybe that doesnt get the best out of him. Anyway assuming we bring in another striker I'm happy. Seems to be zero links to strikers though, that is the concerning bit.
  12. Saw a line on BBC text updates in Charity shield saying Rice had been neat and tidy and not much else. I burst out laughing because what else were they expecting him to do, people think because they paid so much he must be Messi.
  13. One thing that I’ve not seen mentioned is that if Archer is going and Dendoncker is able to leave then it suggests Tim Iroegbunam will be kept around as part of 1st team being 4th home grown player and back up to Big Boubs.
  14. I thought that but already done. Wonder if they will think twice on Aaron Ramsey though, don’t think that’s sealed yet.
  15. I think most of us form our opinions on these players we’ve seen little to none of on the first YT video we see. I’ve been underwhelmed from the videos I watched. But then I found this one and he looks very very good indeed. Moral of the story is YT videos like our sharing of opinions are fun but nothing more. What they do in Villa shirt is all that matters.
  16. Or two weeks of Dignes wages. Depends how you look at it.
  17. He was slow as he turned on inside against Lazio too, Kamara bailed him out. Something he’ll need to work on or it’ll get picked up by analysts in PL for sure.
  18. Going to need John Nash to figure out Chelsea’s position with FFP at this rate.
  19. He has no choice if he wants to leave Spurs this summer. He’ll have no shortage of offers next summer.
  20. If he ends up leaving for free he will 100% stay in England, think the scoring record is important to him.
  21. You keep saying this but I'm not sure Pau Torres fits your narrative. Might be that some transfers work one way and some work another. No one sizes fits all rule to this.
  22. Still seems really odd the Saudi's havent come in for him. Given the blue print of players they are targeting he seems like a very obvious target. So either we have made it clear we want to keep him or he has made it clear he doesnt want to live there. Probably the latter. He's looked a little bit quicker to me in pre season. Still not really done anything. Here's hoping Unai can rejuvenate him.
  23. Think that was a different movie involving two girls.
