  1. A right back who isn't a walking disaster. The play didn't break down every time he received the ball. Seemed very assured, I like him a lot.
  2. He must have a stiff neck tonight watching those balls from Elphick and Baker fly over his head. Difficult to judge him when he's not often fed the ball. If Lansbury and him can get on the same wavelength and get Jedinak fit to sit behind them, I think that'll be our best bet. Delivers a good ball in, and is a threat around the 18 yard box, should we ever get there.
  3. Hogan looks a great little player. An intelligent runner, pacey and direct. His solo run in the first 20 minutes was brilliant, and unfortunate not to score. He was badly let down by Kodjia, and will soon get pissed off with him. I just hope he keeps making the runs and keeps plugging away. RMC seemed to chuck the towel in with Kodjia and Ayew. The best bit of play came from a Kodjia flick, a sharp touch and low drive, which their keeper did well to keep out. I fancy him to notch his first goal next week.
  4. Ridiculously selfish. McCormack got pissed off with him and I'm sure Hogan will if he continues in tonight's vein. Hogan could have been played in by him countless times, but consistently tried to do it on his own and lost the ball. Hogans best 2 chances were a decent flick by Kodjia (need more of that), and a fantastic solo run. Should have been more opportunities if Kodjia got his head up.
  5. He was still recovering through pre season and wasn't deemed ready until we'd played a handful of games, so always playing catch up. The way he injured his knee will always be in his mind when playing too, which is a difficult demon to shift. It'll take time, but there's a decent left back in there. The real Amavi will be seen next season no doubt, and most likely in different colours to ours.
  6. Lovely finisher by the looks of it, and no penalties in there!
  7. Really pleased to have landed Hogan, due to the amount of interest in him, and all the hype about West Ham signing him. I hadn't realised he had played so little football though, and this is his first full season back from his knee injuries. As you say, when he has played he certainly knows where the net is. I just hope the shirt doesn't weigh too heavy, and he is allowed to play his game which looks to have been so successful for him until now.
  8. I enjoyed that, was the highlight of the match from a Villa perspective. Hopefully Lansbury, Hourihane, Hogan and Kodjia get can on the same wavelength, quite a prospect.
  9. Announce Hogan and Taylor to deflect from that shower of shite!
  10. He's been missed tonight protecting the back 4. I think with him back and Hourihane and Lansbury allowed more license we should see better performances. 'Should'.
  11. Seems overawed to me. Looked nervous pre match, and I think it's showed in his performance. I hope he settles quickly.
  12. Bruce should have never chucked him in tonight. Bacuna or Gardner would have had more of an impact. Unfair to judge him on tonight.
  13. Has he just stepped off the plane and turned up tonight - as he's playing like it.
  14. I reckon McGrath may be tempted. He'd do a better job - as would those 2 you mentioned.
  15. David Sullivan was on Talksport saying they're not going to do any business today. Ruling them out completely.
  16. Many have done much worse and come back from it. I think if he stays and apologises as Bruce asks then he could have a good end to the season. He will players around him more likely to be on his wavelength, and potentially another striker who may pass him the ball. I'm not writing him off just yet.
  17. I assume Gabbidon is referring to Taylor. Looks like he is there tonight, as avfctransfers said earlier today.
  18. Thanks for the insight SwansFan. Seems a strange transfer from Bruce and Round. Almost as though they've plumped for him. Sounds like he won't pull up any trees and will most likely be behind Amavi in the pecking order. Taylor is one of those players who I've never paid any attention to, even in the Euros I can't remember him. Chester on the other hand I felt was class and has proved to be this season.
  19. How are we going to focus on the game tomorrow night if there's still transfers up in the air? By us I mean the fans, not the players. Steve Round and Wyness will be doing mass overtime.
  20. Well Hernandez missed 2 penalties in the cup, and the last South American to do that for us was alright. On that basis I'm all for it. However, I'd probably prefer Shane Long. In reality it's probably neither, and it's going to be Ashley Barnes! Or Benteke.
  21. The Dr is no longer following him on Twitter. Strange one that.
